Rejected Chapter 15 - Waking Up
Elizabeth POV I awaken lying on my stomach. I tense as I try to take in my surroundings. I do not move as I do not want to draw attention to myself. My body hurts but not as bad as usual. I try to recall everything that happened. I cringe as I realize I had been punished once again. But the wounds are not as severe. Elizabeth POVMy eyes go as wide as saucers, “Hell no,” I mutter as I look away from him. He has removed his jeans standing in front of me in his black boxers. “Hell yes, mate,” he says as he steps forward. “I am not going to leave you alone. I promise it will just be to help you shower, nothing more,” he says as he pulls me into his arms.I am shaking at the thoughts. The sparks bouncing between us are working in calming me. “I am not ready,” I whisper to Carter. “Not ready to have a shower?” he teases. Alpha Carter POV My mate moving willingly into my arms catches me off guard. I take advantage of the moment holding her. I need to feel her close to me, it calms both Max, my wolf, and me. We were still devastated she had been hurt under our watch. It made us more committed to protecting her than we had naturally been. I had not advised the Elders that I had found my mate yet. I knew they would push for me to make an announcement sooner than later. I knew Elizabeth would not be ready for any announcements nor taking over as Luna anytime soon. She would need time to adjust to her new environment. Adjust to being in a place she could feel safe and loved. I paused at that … love. It was true, I was falling crazy in love with my mate. I did not know how or what she would feel, but I knew for me I was all in. It made me crazy knowing I had been uncertain of wanting a mate to knowing how strongly I felt about my mate now that she was here.
Rejected Chapter 18 - Intentions
Elizabeth POV I do not know who this woman is, but she is demanding answers of me, and I do not know what she is asking. I wait for Carter to explain. He takes my arm, “I suggest we take this conversation to a more private area,” he says tersely as he guides me towards his office. I walk in and I can smell his scent everywhere. It calms me even more than simply being in his presence. He moves to help me sit in a chair in front of his desk and then pulls the other chair closer to me sitting beside me holding my hand. As everyone takes spots around the room, I see the woman looking at me waiting for answers. I am confused with her anger. Was she angry at me? I do not even know who she is. “Who are you?” I ask surprising everyone. Elizabeth POV I could not believe how big this Pack was compared to my old Pack. The people I met along the way were curious, but respectful. Kinsley was learning her way as well. Many knew she was the Beta Female. I appreciated her not introducing me as the Luna. I was not ready for that. I had so much to work through … would I ever be ready? Kinsley took me to a beautiful garden out a side set of doors. It had been well cared for and had a sitting bench in the middle. From this vantage point the person sitting at the bench could take in all the garden had to offer. It had a calming presence to it. Kinsley POV “Alpha, I am sorry. I heard Elizabeth say she could not swim, but then she was in the water. I did not see her fall in,” I admit. Elizabeth POV We finally made it back to our room. I had gotten ready for bed quickly, after taking a shower. I blew dried my hair once I figured out how to use the dryer. I am not sure how to style my hair but at least I did not have to go to bed with wet hair as I did most nights. I walk out and see the lights are turned down.
