chapter 5

DERRICK'S FEELINGS

Max had called me out early the next morning for a brief meeting with his council. It was regarding Jasmine Brooke, my mate.

"You are violating our law" The lady who didn't want Jasmine freed, spoke up.

"Becky, let me talk, will you?" Max interrupted. He looked at me again and sighed, "Derrick. You barely know this girl you chosed" he added.

"I don't need to know her to want her. I believe my senses can't fail me" I insisted.

"Why her?" He asked.

"I don't know. I just want to be with her"

"We made a decision that might not favour you. Derrick it's not too late to change your mind" Max warned staring pitifully.

"Go ahead" I smiled.

"It has been decided that, if you still insist on taking Jasmine. You and Jasmine are banned from coming back to this pack." Came Becky Mendes, the rude girl.

I smiled and walked away. I didn't know what Jasmine did to get such punish, but I was ready to face those challenges with her.

I found love, I couldn't let it just slip away.

I stepped into the room and  met a shocking stare from Jasmine Brooke.

"Why do you look so shocked seeing me? Were you expecting someone else?" I looked around.

She sighed.

"No. I was scared you'd left" She answered immediately, "I should pack, since you are getting ready to leave" She added walking to the wardrobe.

I smiled.

Remembering what she had said the other night thinking I was asleep. I liked her, and I was sure of not being interested in her past. I wouldn't think of reminding her of pain.

"Please, promise you will never make me look for you again. It could kill me" she said backing me.

"I promise" I replied gazing at her.

While heading to my pack, our bond grew stronger than it was. I taught her how to hunt for animals, how to fight, how to survive in the woods. Our bond grew deeper. I wanted her in front of me always.

Her smile was the most beautiful thing I saw everyday. If I was a minute late that night, she wouldn't be here. I would have lost her. She didn't deserve that torture.

We arrived at a certain pack quite late, and decided to pass the night. We asked to meet the alpha and seek for his permission first.

"No! We can't accept a murderer into our pack." The alpha said

I could see the fear in her eyes. I wasn't surprise nor shocked. I chosed not to care about her past.

"News fly that fast. We will pass then. Thank you for your time" I humbly said as I held unto her trembling hands. She gave me that look again, the look she gives when she is ashamed.

"I'm sorry" she cried.

"Hey" I wiped through her eyes with my thumb softly. I couldn't stand her tears falling through her face. It was a pain to me as well.

"I'm always beside you, every step of the way. I don't want to know what happened. I trust you" I assured, then softly placed my lips on her wet lips. I kissed her.

We continued our journey even in the dark. We had no way to sleep just yet. At some point, Jasmine got ill due to the cold in the woods. I would stop for a while and send my wolves to fetch us woods, so I can make fire to keep her warm through the night.

"I don't want to be a burden to you" she shivered.

"You are the most amazing thing that

has ever happened to me" I replied resting her head on my chest, "Hold on a bit, we are almost there" I added while I wrapped my hands around her, I cuddled her.

I was grateful. I fell in love with a stranger and I found happiness with her.  I hoped nothing comes between us because I wouldn't stand losing her nor replacing Jasmine.
