177. Don't Turn Me Down

April's POV

I was in my room, my heart beating at an uneasy pace. I couldn't believe it, but it was finally all over.

It had been a while since I last saw Dorian. Ever since his coronation, the council had swamped him with work. He was having Ivar help him, and everyone seemed to enjoy his leadership.

Azura was on my lap, and I was stroking her. It was still shocking that I was the wolf that the prophecy foretold. I could give life to people.

I had been thinking about it, which was absurd, but it made many things fall into place. It explained how I was able to save Jacob's dad and how I was able to bring Azura back when I saw her in the park.

Despite all of this, I was still worried. If I had found out sooner about my powers and paid more attention to them, I could have saved the King.

The thought haunted me, and the whispering from people I walked past didn't make it any better.
