Chapter 14

“What happened?” he asked as soon as I rolled down my window. As much as I wanted to stay away from him, I felt fate was taunting me.

“My car is in trouble,” I told him to just go because I’m bound to call the emergency hotline for help.

“I’ll send you home. Just leave the car here and I’ll send someone to take care of it,” he offered, but I had no plan of coming with him. “Denver, just go,” I exclaimed exasperatingly, but he was hard-headed to let it go.

“Ara, it’s already dark, and it’s too far from your house,” he kept on reiterating that it’s risky to wait alone for help. “Don’t be stubborn. It’s for your safety,” he was trying his best to convince me.

“Will you just go?” I burst, clearly annoyed at wasting my three minutes talking to him. He growled at my firmness as he tried to collect more patience. In the side mirror of my car, I sighted someone stepping out of his car, and of course, I recognized Meadow instantly.

She walked flawlessly toward us, “Denver?” and called softly
