View MoreThe busy hospital corridor was filled with sounds of footsteps. Some people were there to visit loved ones, while others were there for a check-up.
Jane sat nervously on a bunch, her hands resting on her stomach. She was waiting for the results of her check-up. Her heart beat faster with every passing minute.
Suddenly, a nurse stepped into the room and called out, “Mrs. Jane Anderson!”
Jane quickly stood up. “Yes, that’s me,” she replied.
The nurse smiled and waved her forward. “Come with me, please.”
Inside the doctor’s office, Jane sat down, her fingers tapping against her knee. The doctor looked at her with a big smile.
“Mrs. Anderson, we have your results. Congratulations. You’re pregnant with sextuplets. Six babies.”
Jane blinked in shock. “Six?” she whispered. “That’s not possible... I mean, we only...”
“Yes, it’s very rare,” the doctor said, nodding. “But it’s true. You're the first person in a long time at this hospital to be carrying sextuplets.” the doctor informed her with a wild smile.
Later, as Jane left the hospital and stood outside in the bright sun, she stared at the ultrasound images in disbelief. Six babies. Her hands shook slightly.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed. A message from an unknown number popped up. Curious, she opened it.
It was a photo.
Logan—her husband—on a beach resort, lying on a sunbed, arms around a woman in a red bikini. They were laughing, drinking, and way too close.
Jane’s jaw tightened. Her eyes filled with anger.
She called a taxi and got in. “Take me to the Silver Coast Resort. The Anderson suite,” she said, her voice sharp.
Thirty minutes later, she arrived at the luxury resort.
She walked straight to the beach, where Logan was lounging with the woman from the photo. Without a word, she grabbed the woman’s drink and threw it right in her face.
“Hey! What the hell is wrong with you? Are you crazy?” the woman screamed, wiping the champagne from her drenched hair. But when her eyes landed on Jane, her anger turned into mockery.
“Oh… you. Where did you crawl out from, looking like that? Do you even realize where you are?”
Jane didn’t flinch. Her hands clenched at her sides, but her voice was steady, her gaze locked onto the woman with quiet fire.
“I’m Jane Anderson. The wife of the man sitting beside you. Do I really need to explain more?”
The woman’s smirk faltered, but she lifted her chin. “You—”
“If you’re so eager to take my place,” Jane interrupted coldly, “maybe wait until we’re actually divorced. Otherwise, you’ll stay exactly what you are now a secret. A shameful little stain. Or would you rather I call the police and make this official?”
She slowly pulled out her phone, her eyes hard with warning.
The woman froze. Her lips parted in hesitation as her gaze shifted to Logan, expecting him to say something—anything. But he didn’t move. He didn’t even look at her. He just sipped his drink like none of this was happening.“I’ll go get changed,” she muttered, then turned to leave. As she passed Jane, she shoved her shoulder hard, hissing under her breath, “Filthy little country girl.”
Jane stumbled back, her hand slamming against the wall for balance. Pain shot through her arm, and her leg throbbed—but it was nothing compared to the hollow, crushing ache spreading in her chest.
She blinked rapidly, holding back the urge to cry.
When she finally walked over and sat opposite Logan, her heart was pounding. Her voice came out faint but bitter.
“Did you have fun?”
Logan glanced up with a bored expression, lips curling into a mocking smile. “Oh, come on. You showing up like this? Now it’s fun.”
Jane stared at him, disbelief washing over her. “You’re really proud of this? Of humiliating me?”
He leaned back lazily in his chair. “Don’t pretend you didn’t bring this on yourself.”
“Logan, you’re pathetic,” Jane said, her voice low but shaking with emotion.
Logan’s eyes narrowed. “Pathetic?” he scoffed. “You’re calling me pathetic? When you tricked your way into my bed that night? Was that noble of you? Or is sleeping your way into a marriage your idea of pride?”
His words were like poison each one sharper than the last. Jane’s breath caught in her throat as the pain shot through her chest.
She lifted her hand to slap him, tears brimming in her eyes but Logan grabbed her wrist before she could reach him and shoved her back without hesitation.
“You disgust me, Jane,” he snapped coldly. “You’re the most shameless woman I’ve ever met. What makes you think you deserve anything from me? You’re nothing but a clingy, manipulative little leech.”
Jane stumbled but managed to steady herself, her heart pounding wildly. Her voice cracked as she spoke.“I told you… you were the one who came to me drunk that night. I never forced you.” Her hand trembled at her side. “No matter how much I’ve given you… even if I tore my heart from my chest and laid it at your feet, you’d still throw it away. Why can’t you see I loved you?”
Her voice faltered, but she forced herself to stand tall. “Do you really hate me that much?”
Logan chuckled coldly. “Hate you? You were never worth my feelings, Jane. A backwoods girl like you? What gave you the delusion that I’d ever love you?”
Her face paled, lips trembling, but she held her ground.
“Then why… why did you marry me?”
He shrugged, as if the answer meant nothing. “Because of our families. That’s it. A formality to keep the peace. If not for that, I wouldn’t have even looked at you twice.”
“So…” she whispered, voice brittle, “there’s no chance you’ll ever love me?”
“Don’t even say that word around me,” he said with a sneer. “It’s pathetic coming from you.”
A flash of pain crossed her face. She bit her lip hard, trying to hold in the sob threatening to break free. Her fists clenched at her sides.
“Then let’s divorce,” she said, voice hollow.
Logan’s paused his swirling of wine glass, surprised. “Finally,” he muttered with a smirk. “You’re actually agreeing?”
“I won’t beg for someone who’s never going to be mine,” Jane replied softly. “You’ve never been loyal to this marriage. What’s the point of holding on?”
He studied her for a moment. “Well, at least you’re making sense now. But what about my grandfather?”
“I won’t say anything,” she said quickly. “Once it’s over, you can tell him whatever you want. I won’t get in the way.”
Logan leaned back, watching her with mild interest. For the first time, she didn’t look like the desperate girl he had always seen her as. She looked… tired. Wounded.
“I’ll arrange some money for you,” he offered.
But Jane shook her head instantly. “Don’t bother. I don’t want a cent from you. I came into this marriage with nothing and I’ll leave with my dignity.”
Logan didn’t argue. “Alright,” he said quietly. “I respect your decision.”
The conversation was over. Jane pushed back her chair and stood to leave. But after a few steps, she paused, turning to face him one last time. Her voice was calm, but the hurt behind it was unmistakable.
“I’m not second-guessing this,” she said, her eyes locked onto his. “He was never a good husband… and he won’t be a good father either.”
With that, she turned and walked away, not noticing a slip of test report had slipped from her hand and drifted to the floor behind her.
Logan sat still for a moment before rising. His expression unreadable, he walked toward his car with heavy steps. For years, he had waited for this day. The freedom of finality. But now that it had come, an unfamiliar weight sat in his chest. He tried to shake it off, telling himself it was nothing.
When both of them had left, a figure slowly emerged from the corner of the hallway. A woman, sharp-eyed and silent, picked up the report. As her gaze scanned the words on the page, her features hardened. She pulled out her phone and dialed.
When the call connected, her voice was like ice.
“I need something handled.”

The ink was barely dry on the divorce papers, and Jane found herself under the flickering lights of a rundown pub. Her fingers wrapped around a half-empty glass, the taste of cheap alcohol clinging to her tongue.
She tilted her head back, downing another shot.
“Fuck you, Logan…” she muttered, her voice cracking as tears threatened to spill.
She had given everything her heart, her loyalty believing he might one day love her back.
She was wrong. With no family to turn to, he had been her anchor. And now... She was pregnant. Not with one baby. But six babies growing inside her.
Her shoulders shook slightly as tears welled in her eyes, blurring the edges of the room.
Six lives growing inside a woman who could barely stand without falling apart.
“How am I supposed to do this?” she whispered.
The world around her swayed.
Her hand trembled, and the glass slipped from her grasp, shattering on the floor. A sharp gasp left her lips as her legs gave out beneath her.
Something was wrong.
Heat surged through her chest. Her vision doubled. The sound of the bar dimmed into a distant hum.
She collapsed.
A moment later, a man in a black hoodie walked up, unnoticed by the crowd. He crouched beside her, checked her pulse, and then lifted her effortlessly into his arms.
“She’s ready,” he said into a burner phone, then disappeared with her through the back exit.
The next morning, Jane had just settled at her desk in the project department when Ethan Underwood appeared. “Come on, there’s a meeting,” he said casually.“A meeting this early?” Jane muttered, a little surprised. Still, she grabbed her pen and notebook and followed him without much thought. When they stepped into the conference room, she instantly noticed Logan seated at the head of the table. Her brows drew together slightly, but she said nothing. The manager welcomed everyone, then turned to Jane. “Mr. Logan has extended a rare opportunity to Jane. Go ahead and share your proposal.”Jane didn’t know what Logan was planning, and she didn’t expect much from this meeting. But she calmly presented the revised version of her project. As she explained, the room grew quiet. People listened carefully, their brows furrowed—not out of confusion, but curiosity. The structure was different from the previous proposal.Logan, flipping through the pages, finally spoke. “If I recall, this versio
Jane stepped into the house, the warm smell of home-cooked food already filling the air.As she closed the door, little footsteps ran toward her. “Mom! You’re back!” Clara called out excitedly.Jane opened her arms, ready for a hugnbut Clara came to a sudden stop, squinting at her instead.“Mom... what are you wearing? That outfit is a crime against fashion.”Jane blinked. “Wow. Thanks, sweetie.”Honestly, it made sense why Clara’s fashion sense had grown so fast she’d been styling her mom since she could talk.“I think you look amazing,” Benjamin said as he walked over, his face full of admiration.Clara gave him a look like he’d just said the sky was green. “You’re a straight guy. Your opinion doesn’t count.”Benjamin opened his mouth to reply, then closed it. He knew better.“I think she looks great too!” Liam added with a grin.“Fair skin, pretty face, long legs totally star material,” Bryan chimed in.Clara threw up her hands. “Ugh! That’s three straight guys now. Someone save me
Meanwhile, Vanessa had hired a private team to dig into Jane’s life overseas. But after weeks of searching, they had nothing to show."You're telling me you found nothing?" Vanessa asked, her voice sharp with disbelief."We’re just as surprised, Ms. Young," the investigator replied. "With our level of access, we should’ve uncovered every detail by now unless, of course, someone intentionally wiped her records."Vanessa narrowed her eyes. She didn’t believe Jane had that kind of influence. Still, something about this wasn’t adding up."Are you trying to stall and squeeze more money out of me with this excuse?""Respectfully, Ms. Young, we’ve worked together for years. When we need a higher fee, we ask straight. We don’t play games," the voice on the line answered calmly.Vanessa thought for a moment. Fair enough."If you can't dig up her past, then start with the people around her. I want everything friends, colleagues, anyone she’s interacted with.""...Understood. About the payment—"
*Night* Logan jolted awake, heart pounding from a nightmare. In his dream, Jane was covered in blood, waving at him as she drifted farther and farther away into the darkness. He sat up, forehead damp with sweat, and ran a hand through his hair. The room felt suffocating. He got out of bed and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window. Outside, the moon hung high, surrounded by a sea of stars. He lit a cigarette, its glow casting fleeting shadows across his tired face.It had been six years, but the regret never left.Back then, after their divorce, the nanny had found a small leather-bound journal hidden in Jane’s vanity drawer. Without saying a word, she had handed it to him.Logan never opened it.Maybe he was scared of what he’d read — scared to confront the truth of how she’d felt. So, he locked it away in his bedroom safe, untouched all these years. But tonight... after that dream, something shifted. He walked over to the built-in wall safe, entered the code, and pulled out the jou
The meeting lasted about twenty minutes. Finally, Manager Kim turned to Logan. “Mr. Anderson, what do you think?”But Logan didn’t respond. He hadn’t said a word since Jane’s presentation, his eyes distant, thoughts clearly elsewhere.Vanessa cleared her throat and spoke on his behalf. “Manager Kim, the proposal is impressive, but we need to discuss it further internally. Once a decision is made, we’ll get back to you.”Though slightly anxious, Manager Kim nodded politely. “Of course. Our new project lead was the one who solved the core issue. But if Mr. Anderson or your company have additional requirements, we’ll be happy to accommodate.”Vanessa gave a polite smile and began gathering her documents. “Logan, let’s go.”Logan stood, following her toward the door—but just as he reached it, he suddenly stopped and turned around. His gaze locked on Jane.“What’s your name?” he asked, voice low and unreadable. The entire room froze. Heads turned toward Jane in stunned silence.Jane, caugh
"No wonder the manager is so serious. With a client like that, we won’t have to worry about this year’s performance!""Did you see Mr. Anderson? He’s so handsome! And isn’t that woman with him his rumored fiancée?""Seems like it. She’s stunning. How do these people look even better in person than in photos?""Money, of course.""Sigh, we’ll never understand the world of the rich."Jane vaguely heard the whispers outside. If only they knew he was a demon, would they still be so excited? Her eyes shifted to Andrew Smith he was sitting upright, visibly more serious than the others.Just then, someone entered the room. "Jane Adler, the manager wants you and your team in the conference room."Andrew immediately stood and walked out with three others. As he passed Jane, he paused and said coldly, "Remember what I told you. Don’t interrupt.""I’m the head of the project. I speak when I’m supposed to," Jane replied with a calm smile.Andrew was caught off guard by her composure, but said not
