Grace’s pov

Four years.

The thought settles quietly, but it doesn't stay there.

My fingers pause over the sketch pad, the pencil hovering mid-line. The curve I was drawing loses shape, the line breaking off.

For a second the line blurs, not because it wasn't beautiful but because something else presses in.

Four years…and I'm still here.

I set the pencil down, my palm smoothing over the fabric sample beside me. The silk shifts under my touch. Clean lines, structured cut, better than anything I have seen before.

A faint smile touched my lips but it didn't reach my eyes. The truth still sits there.

Ava.

The name lingers longer than it should.

She has been gone for four years yet…my jaw tightened

Nothing changed.

My fingers press into the fabric, wrinkling its smooth surface before I flatten it.

I exhaled through my nose, this isn't the time, not today.

Today changes everything.

I will prove to Desmond that I'm all he needs.

My lips curve again.

Everything has to be perfect. “It has to be,”  I murmured under my breath

The black dress fits exactly the way I need it to be. The slit runs clean along my thighs. My hair falls over my shoulders.

The moment I stepped into the conference room, it felt quiet. My heels whispered against the polished floor as I took my place. Conversations fade, eyes follow.

Nothing about me is accidental.

At the far end, Desmond stood composed as ever. His gaze held mine for minutes, almost like a warning.

I tilted my head, a deep breath followed.

This is my moment.

After today, Desmond wouldn't  have a reason not to make me his wife.

I moved with ease, it was time. Fingers brushing lightly against  the table as I begin, my voice firm. I walked them through the designs, concepts and visions. Every detail flowed gracefully…

For a moment, it feels right.

Then the room goes quiet.

The smile that once filled my face faded. Before I could say another word, a voice cut in

“Interesting,“ one of them said, leaning back in his  chair, fingers tapping once against the arm rest. His eyes narrow slightly.

I clamped my lips, my fingers pressed lightly into the table.

“This isn't what we asked for” another voice, sharper

My gaze flicks to Desmond, his brows lifted, his eyes shifted briefly towards the door.

My chest tightened

“I believe this direction is stronger” I say, my voice steady “it improves the previous…”  The rest of my words were cut off.

“We didn't ask for improvement, we asked for consistency” another investor snapped.

Silence.

Desmond says nothing.

Soon the door swung open, every head tilted as the woman walked in.

My gaze lifts slowly, taking her in. The ivory suit, tailored to precision. The kind of confidence that demands attention without asking for it.

For a second, the room shifts.

Desmond’s lips broadened and his legs couldn’t hold still as he approached her.

“Welcome” he said, his hands reaching for hers.

“This is SG, the famous designer you requested.”

“SG?” I murmured

The room stirs immediately.

I straightened, my gaze sweeping over her.

The moment her design was revealed, my lips parted slightly.

She steps forward, presenting her designs, laying them out with quiet confidence.

For a brief moment, something flickers in the room…

I fold my arms loosely, waiting.

Then it fades.

“This isn't it either.” One of the investors says flatly.

A sharp inhale through her lips, barely noticeable but it’s there.

Another exhales, clearly disappointed. “This is not SG’s work.”

She bit her lips slightly, her fingers tightened around the folder in her hands.

Minutes later chairs scraped against the floor, papers gathered.

“We’re wasting time. This is not what we invested in.” A woman snapped.

The sound of their shoes echoed like a reminder of what had happened.

My fingers tightened at the edge of the table.

When the investors left, her steps faltered toward the doorway but arms crossed her.

“Stop” Desmond’s voice rose.

“You seemed convincing when we met.”

“Why did you impersonate SG? You could have said you didn’t know her, why make a fool out of me in front of the investors?” He asked

The moment her lips parted, Desmond turned away.

“Take her away” he said

I stood still, trying to process everything.

My head tilted slightly towards him and our eyes locked for a second.

“You said you could handle it” he snaps

My fingers curled slightly at my side

“I did,” I replied, holding his gaze. “That was a better direction…”

He didn't let me finish

“I didn't ask for better,” he said flatly. “I asked for results.”

“Results?” I flared back

“You had no faith in me Desmond” my voice sharpened.

“Faith?” His eyes harden. “You should have known the investors are not idiots.”

“Was that plan B?” I asked.

He turns away, “Meeting’s over Grace”  voice cold.

The footsteps disappear, leaving me behind.

The strength drained from my legs so suddenly, and my hand curled against the edge of the table, until the tension finally snapped.

The design sits in front of me perfect but useless.

A slow breath leaves me.

“Who the hell is SG and how did Ava find her?” I muttered.

She died yet it still feels like she has something on all of us.

My lips pressed into a thin line.

No, this isn't over.

Whoever  SG is… I will find her.

  • Return of the Billionaire Heiress   CHAPTER FIFTY FIVE

Desmond's POVI knew things were not the way they used to be. Grace and I had a lot going on, even before we got married. We still chose each other but this time it felt different. She was right in front of me yet I wasn’t satisfied. After the drama at the restaurant, all I thought about was how to appease my wife but it wasn’t working. The entire time my mind drifted to Morgana. Such beauty, gorgeousness. Oh, how I wish she were the one lying naked on my bed. I had Grace panting just beneath me minutes ago. Her hands still lying on my chest like she was trying to stake her claim. The room smelled of sex and expensive perfume, the kind she made me buy.Yet Morgana was the only thing on my mind.It was intense. I shut my eyes trying to erase her image, especially the unique smile she always wears and the way her lips curve each time a word is spoken. I can swear I hadn’t met someone like her in years. The curviness of her body and how she carries herself when walking. If this was

Ava’s POVOMG!My eyes widened immediately as I stood in front of Desmond. He had already picked it up, he opened the wallet but then I snatched it from his hand. “That's mine,” I said softly.“Oh uhm, I… I” he stuttered, “I thought you left already,” Oh no Desmond, I didn't. In fact, I heard everything you said about me. I wanted to say that but instead I blinked once before answering. “Yes I had,” I paused, “but I realized I forgot my wallet so I came back immediately.”“Oh okay, I found it beneath the table” he said looking at the table.“Thank you,” I said, finally trying to act grateful, but I wasn't. I wish I could punch him in the face for all the terrible things he did to me. Gosh, I hated him so much.Grace sat down staring at me as if the world depended on that gaze. “So you didn't hear anything,” she said finally. I shook my head like a little puppy before answering, “No, I just arrived here.”I lied. “Alright, Morgana, we were about to leave,” Grace said, standing on

Ava's POVThe keyIt was in my possession the entire day, yet I sat in front of them and I never knew they wanted it so badly. What exactly is in that safe my father mentioned? I stood still and leaned against the wall in order not to be seen. “We don't know who has it,” Grace said. Wait a minute, so Grace knows about it too. I inhaled slowly, and my ears sharpened.“We have more pressing issues,” Mia cut in, changing the subject. What could be more pressing than the key to them?Desmond nodded his head in agreement with his mother. “Parker Group isn't the way it used to be,” he continued, “we don't have investors anymore, the only person backing us is the Adams Foundation.”Right, Adams Foundation. I smirked and let a faint smile rest on my lips. “I guess you still haven't found SG, “ Mia said softly.Desmond shook his head, “Sometimes I wish Ava was still alive.”“Careful of what you wish for, Desmond.” Grace barked, “I'm right here.”“Relax babe, I meant she would know where SG

  • Return of the Billionaire Heiress   CHAPTER FIFTY TWO

Ava's POVOur eyes locked for a moment. He blinked once, twice. Desmond Parker. My ex-husband, the man behind my death and other things I'm yet to find out. He stood in front of me in a suit that clung to his lean frame, hands slightly resting on my back. For a minute, neither of us spoke a word until Mia broke the silence. “Do you two know each other?”Desmond immediately removed his hand from my back. I straightened immediately, “Yes.” I looked at Grace while talking, “Grace has told me a lot about him and I'm delighted to finally meet him.” Her eyes widened, I'm sure she must have wondered about the time she told me such a thing. But I stretched forth my hand with a smile on my face, for a handshake with him. “Morgana, nice meeting you.” Desmond couldn't say a word, he just obeyed like a dog who listens to its owner. “Desmond Parker,” he said, giving me a handshake as well. “Great,” Mia interrupted.I took one more sip of wine before standing on my feet. “I will take my leav

Ava's POV “Grace?” The voice repeated so I turned fully and smiled.Mia ParkerMy biggest nightmare and ex-mother-in-law. The one person who made me shake whenever she spoke to me. I remember feeling as though the floor should open for me to fall inside one time. And today she stood in front of me, looking as elegant as ever but the only difference was that she didn't recognize me. But I did. I smirked, slightly this time.“Mother,” Grace said, trying to fake a smile. Mia walked into our space, “What are you doing in the restroom? We're supposed to have lunch in the restaurant.”Before Grace could respond, I cut in… “I will take my leave Grace , see you around.” My heels whispered against the floor as I headed toward the door. But Mia’s gaze fell on me. “Wait…” I froze mid-step.Oh my God! Did she recognize me?No, no, no, no, no, this can’t be happening. “And you are?” She asked softly.“Anna,” I turned facing her. She rolled her eyes. “Anna?” She repeated the name, “Never

  • Return of the Billionaire Heiress   CHAPTER FIFTY

Ava’s POVSilence filled the restroom, the kind that settles before chaos begins. The steady trickle of water from a leaking pipe was the only sound, setting the stage for the battle about to unfold.I turned toward her and smiled brightly. Her hands were shaking already, “What… you… Morgana.”“Did you forget how to speak?” My brow lifted slightly, “Well, hello to you too, Grace.” I said immediately and tightened my jaw.“Surprised to see me?,” I smiled awkwardly this time. But it didn't last long.I moved further to dry my hands, deliberately, and walked back to her. “You seem tense though, what’s the issue?”Grace realized she was holding the hem of her dress so tightly, so she laughed nervously. “You scared me. I.. I wasn’t expecting anyone.” She finally spoke.I nodded my head, “Is that why you can’t find the right words?” My tone was sharp. She paused, her shoulders already stiffened. Minutes later she opened her mouth, “I thought you travelled after the kidnap incident.” “Of c
