—SAMANTHA—

The sharp sting burned across my cheek, forcing my head to the side. For a moment, I stood there in shock, my skin pulsing where Ophelia struck me. But before I could say anything, she let out a loud, exaggerated gasp of her own and clutched her cheek as if she had been the one hurt.

Then she started crying.

“Why… why did you slap me, Samantha?!” She wailed, tears threatening to spill from her eyes, but I could see the malicious gleam behind them.

I froze, caught off guard. My eyes widened in disbelief and anger.

Just then, footsteps sounded from behind, and I turned to see Lillian standing at the end of the stairs. She took one look at Ophelia’s tear-streaked face, and her eyes immediately locked on me with an accusing glare.

Lillian’s face darkened. “Did you just hit her?”

“No!” I shook my head quickly. “I didn't! She—”

"Don’t even try to deny it," my sister in law snapped at me. "I saw you hit her!"

My hands trembled at my sides. "I said I didn’t touch her!"

—SAMANTHA POV— The soft golden rays of the morning sun poured into my bedroom, seeping through the white curtains and dancing across the floor like a gentle wake-up call. I blinked my eyes open slowly, stretching my arms above my head as the warmth kissed my skin. For a moment, I lay there quietly, letting the stillness of the room wrap around me. The bed was soft, the room peaceful—but my mind wasn’t.With a sigh, I sat up and swung my legs over the edge of the bed. My feet touched the cool marble floor, and I stood, rolling my neck to ease the stiffness. I padded over to the window, tugging the curtain aside. The city outside buzzed faintly in the distance, already alive with motion. Another day to survive. Another day to pretend everything was fine. I turned, just about to head into the bathroom, when my door flew open with a loud bang.“Samantha!!!”I blinked. What the—? Before I could speak, a whirlwind of energy rushed into the room.“Maryjane?” I asked, frowning as she cam

—DALTON— I watched her walk away. The world around me even the annoying flashes of cameras, none of it reached me. My eyes followed only her. Samantha. The way her hips swayed in that damn black dress, the way her hair—longer now, sleeker—brushed against her bare shoulders. She moved with that quiet confidence like she owned the world, like she hadn’t just disappeared for five years with my child and that set something intense inside my chest. She didn’t even look back. Not once.My fist curled by my side. I could feel the tension building in my jaw, the quiet fury that boiled in my veins. I didn’t even realize I was grinding my teeth until I tasted blood. The crowd could see it. The storm in my eyes. They moved out of my way like I was something wild and unpredictable. No one dared speak to me. Not even the auctioneer who had practically wet himself earlier when I bidded three billion like it was spare change.I didn’t do it for applause. Or ego.I did it because I was claiming wha

—SAMANTHA—I found my seat near the front, away from Zeke, Ophelia, and Dalton. Maryjane slipped in beside me moments later, her eyes wide with everything she’d just witnessed.“Samantha…” she whispered, her face darkened with concern.“I’m fine,” I said softly, still staring straight ahead. But the truth was, I wasn’t fine.Dalton was here. Zeke was here. And now the whole city knew I was back. And I could feel it—this was just the beginning. Something was coming. Something I wasn’t ready for.And when I turned my head slightly, I saw Dalton in the far corner… watching me.I looked away. But his eyes didn’t.The auction had barely begun but the energy in the room was already intense. Silence falls as the loud voice of the auctioneer announced the first item up for bid. A rare painting, something from an old, forgotten artist now rediscovered and selling for thousands.“Ten thousand,” someone called.“Fifteen,” another added.“Twenty-five,” came from the back of the room, a man with g

—SAMANTHA—"Let me go." I simply said, my eyes cold at my ex-husband who barely recognized me. But the bastard still held me and it grated my nerves. Bile rose in my throat with disgust. Ophelia glared daggers at me. Her grip on Zeke tightened possessively. "Darling, we should go inside," she purred, shooting me a venomous look. But Zeke wasn’t listening. He was too busy studying me, his gaze unnervingly intense. "Have we met before?" My lips parted to retort, but no sound came out because a concerned hand landed on my arm. Maryjane. Her face pale. "Samantha, are you alright—" Shit! “SAMANTHA?!” Zeke’s voice cut through the noise, sharp with disbelief. His eyes widened. His grip on Ophelia slackened. Ophelia gasped with disbelief. Now they all know nMy ex-husband stood there, staring at me with wide eyes. His expression shifted from confusion to stunned silence. He quickly grabbed my arm again. I didn’t mean to freeze, but it happened. My body remembered things my mind

—SAMANTHA—Night had arrived, wrapping the city in a silence. Inside the room, the only sound was the gentle strokes of a makeup brush on my skin.I sat before the vanity mirror in my black evening gown. The dress fit perfectly. Elegant but powerful, with a slit that traced the line of my leg. I felt no nerves. Only cold, steady calm."Almost done," Maryjane stood behind me, her brows furrowed in concentration as she finished applying the final touch of lip gloss to my lips. When she stepped back to admire her work, her eyes went wide."Sam..." She breathed. "You look absolutely stunning."I smiled, though it never touched my eyes. "Thank you, MJ."She set down the brush and grinned while I studied my reflection. The woman staring back was a stranger. All sharp cheekbones and dangerous red lips. My hair, once wild with curls, now sat sleek and pinned in an elegant updo. A few strands framed my face, but there was nothing soft about me anymore. This wasn't the Samantha who got pushed

  • Revenge After Divorce: Ex-Husband Regret    The invitation

—SAMANTHA— After hours of flying, the tires of the plane finally hit the ground with a soft jolt.We had landed.I was back.Skyline City. The name alone once filled me with fear. Now, it felt like a challenge I was ready to face. As the plane taxied and passengers began unbuckling their seatbelts, I gently woke Amore.“Sweetheart,” I whispered, brushing her hair back, “we’re here.”She blinked her sleepy eyes and nodded, still too tired to speak.I stood up, pulling our small carry-on from the overhead bin, then helped her down from the seat. Together, we walked out of the plane and through the long corridors of the airport. I held her hand tightly, never letting go.Once we collected our luggage, I stepped outside into the open air.The city looked almost the same. Busy streets, people rushing, honking cars, chatter, and movement everywhere. Yet something in me had changed so much, it all felt different now. I stood by the curb, bags at my feet, one hand holding Amore’s tiny finger
