She wore a tight, glittering dress far too loud for her age and taste. Her makeup was thick and her jewelry excessive, but her eyes… those cruel, calculating eyes hadn’t aged a day.

“Well,” she said with a smirk, crossing her arms. “You’ve grown into a real woman, I see. Playing dress-up and seducing powerful men. You must be so proud.”

I stood frozen for a second. Not in fear.

But in disgust.

“I didn’t know roaches were invited to this banquet,” I replied calmly.

Her lips twitched, but she chuckled anyway, fake and loud. “Still sharp-tongued. I see nothing’s changed. You may be pretending to be someone important now, but I raised you and your sister, remember?”

That word—raised—sparked something sharp and bitter inside me.

“You didn’t raise me and Gina!” I said coldly. “You locked us away. You worked us to the bone, beat us when we were late, and you let your children mock when we cried. Don’t you dare pretend you ever did anyt

—SAMANTHA— The moment I stepped out, the screams and camera flashes hit me like a wave.Reporters leaned over the ropes, flashes blinding, microphones shoved forward. The announcer’s voice echoed through the speakers, confusion mixing with excitement.“And arriving now—wait… Is that…?”Yes. It is.Me.Samantha Dawson. The woman they all thought was nothing but a shadow in the background. But tonight?I would be Alice Mcqueen. The moment I stepped into the hall beside Ryan, everything stopped. The clinking of glasses. The hum of conversations. The echo of the grand orchestra.Every eye turned. Every breath caught. And every whisper stilled. My heels clicked softly on the polished marble floor, echoing through the banquet like a drum announcing war. The gown Dalton sent wrapped around my body like liquid fire—deep red, daring, and unforgettable. My hair cascaded over one shoulder in stunning waves, and the soft glow of the chandelier above glinted off the diamond earrings I wore. The

  • Revenge After Divorce: Ex-Husband Regret    The banquet is here

—Samantha pov—I hesitated. For a moment. My instinct screamed to hide it. To keep it all locked inside like I always did. But this time… I was tempted. Tempted to tell my beloved aunt everything.About the chase.About the disgusting men who thought they had power over me.About the red gown Dalton left in my room with a note like I belonged to him.About how close I was to finally burning it all down.Instead, I said, “Let’s just say… last night reminded me exactly why I’m doing this.”Aunt Penelope hummed knowingly. “Good. Let it fuel you. But don’t let it change your heart.”I stared at Amore again, who now waved at me with a frown.“It won’t,” I whispered. “I promise.”“Tonight is the banquet, right?” she asked.“Yes.”“You’ll be the storm they didn’t see coming.”A soft smirk curved my lips.“That’s the plan.”Aunt Penelope gave a small laugh. “Then make sure you’re dressed like thunder, Alice.”“I will aunt.”We exchanged a few more words, then said our goodbyes. I hung up and

  • Revenge After Divorce: Ex-Husband Regret    What happened?

—SAMANTHA— My mind raced again. No. It couldn’t be Dalton. He would never put his duaghter life in danger like this. Then who was it? Any of the four families? But they dont know my real identity yet! This person must be powerful. He or she has the nerve to send three damn sedans after me in the middle of the night. Did they hthink this would scare me? Intimidate me?Well, it was working. But I wouldn’t show it.Not in front of my daughter. “Ryan,” I said through gritted teeth, “Head for the tunnel. If we can get through it and mix with traffic, we might lose them.”“Got it!” He sped up, pushing the car harder. I could hear Amore crying behind me now, sobbing into her car seat. I wanted to comfort her, hold her, but I couldn’t even turn fully. All I could do was shout back and hope she felt safe.“We’re going to be okay, Amore! I promise! Just hold on!”She sobbed louder, and my heart broke. Then, just ahead—I saw the tunnel.“Go!” I shouted.Ryan gunned it.We darted into the tun

—SAMANTHA— Ryan drove us home quietly, the car moving smoothly through the city streets as the orange glow of the setting sun bathed everything in soft warmth. I rested my head slightly against the window, closing my eyes for a moment, trying to calm the nerves that had been poked at all day. Finally we reached home and the moment we stepped into the house, the sound of hurried little footsteps echoed from the hallway.“Mommy!”I blinked and looked down just in time to catch Amore running into my arms. I knelt and scooped her up, hugging her tightly. My heart eased the moment she wrapped her arms around my neck.“Hey, my sweet girl. How was school today?”“Fine,” she said, her voice muffled against my shoulder. “But I missed you!”I smiled and kissed her cheek. “I missed you too.”Then she pulled back and gave me a hopeful look. “Can I have ice cream today?”I raised a brow. “Ice cream? Hmm… did you behave at school?”Amore nodded eagerly, eyes wide with excitement. “Yes, yes, yes!”

  • Revenge After Divorce: Ex-Husband Regret    The restroom

—Samantha pov—For a moment, there was a pin-drop silence. The air although quiet was intense. With a hard face, I gave Mr Zhao a short bow, then turned without another word, walking away with grace and quiet rage building inside me.Tomorrow, they’ll all know exactly who they’ve been playing with! My hands trembled slightly as I pushed the restroom door open and then entered. The mirror greeted me with a reflection that I barely recognized. My jaw was tight, my eyes sharp. Sighing, I reached for the tap, letting the cold water run over my palms before splashing it onto my face. The icy sting helped chase away the lingering anger and exhaustion that clung to me like a second skin.Hence, I took a few steady breaths and used a paper towel to dab away the droplets clinging to my cheeks. Then I ran my fingers through my hair and adjusted my blazer. I was calm again. Composed. I didn’t want anyone to see the storm raging inside me. Not yet.Just as I stepped out of the women’s restro
