—Samantha’s POV—

I hadn’t taken the driver with me today. I needed this moment to feel… in control.

The road to Serenity Villa stretched like a silent promise before me, the evening sunlight casting warm hues over the hood of my car. Amore sat beside me in the front seat, her legs crossed in her seat, her soft blue gown fanned gently around her.

She had her AirPods in, head bobbing lightly to whatever melody she was listening to. I glanced at her from the corner of my eyes. So carefree, so innocent. Her presence alone was a balm to my restless mind.

Suddenly, she tugged one pod out and turned to me, tilting her head. “Mom?”

“Yes, sweetheart?” I kept my voice calm, though my fingers tensed slightly on the wheel.

“Who’s your special friend?” she asked for thr hundredth time, eyes round with curiosity. “You said someone wants to see me really badly.”

I forced a smile, ruffling her hair gently. “You’ll see when we get there, okay?”

  • Revenge After Divorce: Ex-Husband Regret    A special friend

—Samantha’s POV— “What?” I muttered in disbelief. From the couch, Maryjane suddenly screamed loudly, “What the fuck?!”She shot to her feet, phone clutched tightly, her expression horrified. Without saying a word, she marched over and thrust the screen in front of me.I took it from her and stared. There it was. A picture of me. On the balcony. With Dalton. My face—clear as day. His wasn’t visible, shadowed by the angle, but mine... mine was unmistakable. The moment captured looked intimate, like we were kissing. And to be honest, we were. The caption was brutal:*CEO by Day… Whore by Night.”It was posted anonymously, already shared by hundreds—no, thousands—of people. Comments were pouring in. Some called me a fraud. Some shamed me. Some said they expected better. Others just mocked me for being caught. My phone started vibrating violently beside me—call after call flooding in from different people. Investors. Press. Acquaintances.I didn’t answer.Instead, I handed the phone back

—SAMANTHA— By late afternoon, my body screamed for rest.My eyes stung from staring at the screen for hours, my inbox had been a nightmare, and every few minutes there was a knock on my door demanding a signature or decision. Reports. Financials. Strategy reviews. Meetings. Phone calls.Ryan wasn’t around today. If he were, the work would’ve flowed better—he was a calming presence and efficient to a fault. But no, the smooth-talker had vanished for some business meeting across the city, and I’d been left to deal with the entire empire alone. With a deep sigh, I slumped against my chair, peeled off my heels, and groaned as I massaged my aching toes. The relief was almost sinful.“God, I need to fire whoever invented stilettos,” I muttered.Just then—BANG! The door flew open and slammed against the wall, making me jump.“Who the hell—?!” I snapped, eyes flaring—until I saw the grinning face pop in like a sunbeam through storm clouds.“Surprise, boss lady!” Maryjane beamed.I couldn’t

—SAMANTHA— Dalton’s lips found mine again, slow and careful this time, his powerful hands ravaging every inch of my body, our moans filled the air, but my heart was screaming in panic. This wasn’t supposed to happen! I wasn’t supposed to feel this.I wasn’t supposed to want him.And yet here I was… drowning in his warmth. Sinking into the past that still haunted me.When his kiss stopped, and he pulled back slightly to look into my face, I turned my head away.“We shouldn’t be doing this,” I whispered.“But we did,” he said softly. “And you felt it.”I opened my mouth to argue but no words came out.We lay there, quiet. And when I finally turned back to face him again, I saw it.That same torment in his eyes. And that scared me more than anything.Because part of me… still wanted to believe him.“Sleep,” Dalton whispered in that deep, velvety voice that somehow settled the chaos inside me.I didn’t respond. I just let out a sigh and turned away, facing the other side of the bed, hop

—Samantha’s POV— I stood frozen, drenched and burning. Every part of me knew this was dangerous. He was dangerous. But still—his touch was warm, his coat smelled like him, and the storm outside suddenly didn’t feel so terrifying anymore.Without another word, Dalton pulled me forward, guiding me under the shelter of the archway. His hand never left my back, steady and firm.I didn’t say a word. Neither did he.But between the thunder, the rain, and the racing of my own heart—there was a silence thick with tension. One I was afraid might consume me if I let it.And God help me…A part of me didn’t want to resist.Dalton continued to lead me silently down the hallway of Serenity Villa. I could feel the heat of his hand still lingering on my back even after he dropped it. When we reached one of the guest rooms, he paused, turned slightly, and in that low, ever-commanding voice, said,“Goodnight.”Wait… what?I blinked, taken off guard. He wasn’t going to try and follow me in? Wasn’t th

  • Revenge After Divorce: Ex-Husband Regret    His threat

—Samantha’s POV— The gala was over, but I was far from feeling the peace that should come after a successful event. My heels tapped with quiet rhythm against the marble steps as I made my way to the parking lot, my purse clutched tightly in one hand and annoyance pulsing in my veins.I had told Grace, Maryjane, and Ryan to head home. I didn’t want them hovering around me tonight—especially when my mood had sunk into irritation. Why? Because Dalton Montclair had disappeared without a single word, leaving me to drive his sick grandmother back to Serenity Villa.Coincidence? Please. My jaw ticked as I slid into the driver’s seat. The cool leather did little to calm me, especially not with Mrs. Bellamy already dozing off in the passenger seat, her fragile hands resting quietly on her lap, her head tilted gently to the side.A sigh escaped my mouth as I adjusted the mirror. “Typical,” I muttered, pulling out of the parking lot. “Disappears just when he was needed.”The city lights dimmed
