RHONDA

People had already gathered around, with their phones out to take photos and videos of the scene unfolding. Whispers also rippled through the crowd.

Suddenly, the rage in Malcolm’s eyes evaporated like mist and was replaced by mere discomfort. His control was impressive.

“Alpha Theodore, I believe this is really inappropriate, and I demand an apology,” he calmly said.

“What is inappropriate is speaking to my mate and looking at her like that!” Theodore retorted.

The audacity to be jealous after the humiliation he put me through every day.

Theodore snapped his gaze at me. “How do you know him anyway?”

“How is talking to my childhood…” Malcolm started, but paused, choosing his words carefully. “How is speaking to my childhood friend, catching up with her after a very long time, inappropriate?”

Theodore narrowed his eyes. “Childhood friend?”

His phone suddenly rang, and he answered immediately. A hard frown twisted his face as he listened.

“What?” he barked suddenly. “Rush her to

THEODOREA highly anticipated notification popped on my phone’s screen within an hour. The very talented Seven had fixed the problem and given me back the project I thought I had lost.Relief flooded through me, and a wide grin spread across my face. “Yes!” I exclaimed, making a power gesture. “Yes!”Whoever Seven was, they were too good at what they did. I had tried so many times to uncover their identity, but to no avail. I really wanted to know who this guardian angel was. Everything I owned, I owed to them.Pushing those thoughts aside, I immediately pressed the intercom on my desk.“Come to my office. Now,” I said firmly.Chloe Jenkins, my secretary of about two years, walked in shortly after. She was a redhead, with eyes as green as the forest. She was dressed in a fitted black corporate dress with a touch of white at the collar.“Alpha,” she bowed slightly as she walked in.“Send an email to the government’s tech department,” I instructed. “It’s time we launch the project.”Her

THEODOREI fixed Malcolm Hitler with a deadly glare, silently promising him that this was far from over, before storming out of the apartment complex. My jaw was clenched so tight it hurt, and my fists were curled at my sides as I marched toward my car.James, the tech director, met me at the lobby when I arrived at the company’s tower. He was about forty years old and had a short stature.“What happened? Give me details,” I groaned as I quickly walked toward the elevator, with him trying to catch up behind me.The company had suffered far too many setbacks in recent months, and that project was my only hope. The government would without a doubt sign a contract worth billions of dollars with DTech if we pitched the project to them. That contract would help us get back on track.I couldn’t lose that project.“I don’t know...” he began to say as we stepped into the elevator.“What do you mean you do not know?” I growled, grabbing him by the collar and yanking him closer. “You are the te

RHONDA“My—my—my talent?” I stammered, my voice faltering as countless thoughts raced through my mind.“Yes, Rhonda,” Malcolm said gently. “I remember how intelligent and talented you were back in high school. You coded purely for the joy of it, building websites at such a young age. One can only imagine how much you’ve improved now at thirty-one.”Admiration shone clearly in his eyes as he continued. “You inspired me, you know. You inspired me to become who I am today. I admired you so much that I learned how to code after I left Westhaven City.”My mouth parted as I listened to him talk. Before I could reply, he continued, “and that is why I owe it to you to help you break from his shackles. When you told me that you were married to an Alpha and had a pup, I did my research. At first, it was just curiosity. But then I found out from trusted sources…” He hesitated. “How badly he treats you.”He inhaled sharply, looking me straight in the eyes. “Rhonda, you are smart and intelligent.

RHONDA“Me?” I leaned forward, steepling my fingers together as I studied the faces around the table. “Am I that special?”“Uhm…” Theodore cleared his throat, visibly uncomfortable. “We were, uhm… just talking about the new project that’s about to be launched.”“What about it?” I lifted a brow, fully interested in whatever they had to say about what I built, “and how am I linked to it?”“The following days after launching it would be really tasking, and I would need an assistant who would make everything easier for me, including decision making.”“Hm.” I breathed, intrigued at how he just blatantly called me stupid before his staff.“No, no. Do not get me wrong,” he quickly added. “I do not mean it the way that you think I do. We just need someone with at least basic knowledge in tech to carry out the task.”“And who says I’m naive in that aspect?” I raised a brow. “I know one or two things about tech.”“Rhonda,” he called flatly, looking at me with furrowed brows. “You do not have to

RHONDA“Mother, it wasn’t her fault,” Theodore said quickly, stepping forward. “Rhonda would never intentionally embarrass me like that in public.”“But she did,” Agatha snapped sharply, her eyes blazing with contempt as she pointed at me. “And that’s not the only reason I’m chasing her away. She adds no value to this pack. She is useless and unworthy of being Luna!”Her harsh gaze softened immediately as she turned to Layla. Her lips curved into a pleased smile. “But this damsel right here,” she continued, pulling Layla closer, “is everything a Luna should be. She’s kind. She’s loyal.” Her eyes flicked back to me with open disdain. “And she’s not barren.”“I am not barren!” I groaned through clenched teeth. “The child I suffered to bring into this world is out there somewhere, and I will find him!”“Yes, mother. She’s not barren. I will find our pup. I promise. So please do not make her feel bad,” Theodore wrapped his arm around my shoulder and smiled at me. “Don’t be sad. I’ll alway
