Adult Supervision

last update Data de publicação: 2026-09-04 10:44:27

I made it halfway down the stairs before August caught up with me.

“You are not seriously going to speak to her,” he said, his voice a low rumble behind me.

I kept walking. “I thought you weren't speaking to the reporter.”

“I’m not.”

“Then why are you following me?”

“Because apparently someone in this building requires adult supervision.”

I glanced over my shoulder. “You know, Paul told me you were fun.”

August’s expression remained perfectly flat. “No, he didn’t.”

“No. He really didn’t.”

God,

I kissed him slowly at first, tasting champagne and the quiet satisfaction of the day. Then I bit his lower lip just hard enough to make him inhale.August’s hands settled on my waist. “Melody...”“Shh.” I pushed his jacket off his shoulders and let it fall. “You’ve been very patient all day. Signing papers. Shaking hands. Smiling politely while people congratulated you.”I worked his tie loose and dropped it. “Now it’s my turn to congratulate you properly.”His eyes darkened. “Is that so?”“Yes.” I unbuttoned his shirt with deliberate care, spreading it open so I could drag my nails lightly down his chest. “Eleven hotels, August. Eighteen months of work. And you still looked at me across that conference room like I was the only thing that mattered.”I shoved the shirt off completely and reached for his belt. “That deserves a reward.”He let me push him backward until the backs of his knees hit the edge of the blue chair. I guided him down into it. The worn fabric creaked under his we

I had never attended the acquisition of eleven luxury hotels before. So, naturally, I had questions."Is there a ribbon-cutting ceremony?"August glanced at me as he fastened his cuff links. "No.""Champagne?""Afterward.""Confetti?""Absolutely not."I sighed. "You really know how to take the fun out of buying an international hospitality empire."He looked up, amusement flickering in his dark eyes. "It's a controlling interest in a hospitality group, Melody.""Eleven hotels," I corrected."Yes.""In Europe.""Yes.""Worth an amount of money you refuse to tell me because you know I'll start calculating how many theaters I could buy with it.""Precisely."I grinned.August crossed the bedroom and stopped in front of me. He looked unfairly handsome in his dark suit, his hair neatly styled, his expression composed. Almost too composed."Are you nervous?" I asked."No.""Liar."He raised an eyebrow. "I've been negotiating this acquisition for eighteen months.""Which means you've had ei

The first message arrived while I was eating breakfast.Paul: I know you think you've won.I stared at my phone for a moment, then turned it facedown beside my plate.Across the kitchen island, August glanced up from his tablet. "Everything okay?""Paul."His expression tightened. "What does he want?""Apparently, he thinks we've been playing a game and I've won something.""Don't answer him.""I wasn't planning to."I picked up my coffee and took a sip.It had been almost a week since Paul followed me into my apartment building. Since then, I'd heard nothing directly from him. My attorney had been dealing with his lawyer, and I'd been enjoying the relative peace of rehearsals, performances at Ainsley, and getting used to living with August.I'd almost convinced myself Paul had finally found something better to do. Apparently not.My phone buzzed again.Paul: You can't just pretend like you and I never happened.I showed August."Forward those to your attorney," he said."I will."Ano

  • Revenge Dating My Ex's Brother   A Bigger Stage

By Thursday morning, I had discovered two things about living with Augustus Belcourt.First, he apparently considered six thirty in the morning a perfectly reasonable time to be awake.Second, he made excellent coffee but had absolutely no respect for people who wanted to drink it in peace."Are you listening to me?"I looked up from my mug. "Of course.""What did I say?""Something important involving money."August leaned against the kitchen counter, looking offensively handsome in a charcoal suit. "That narrows it down considerably.""You're welcome."He smiled and slid a plate of toast toward me. "Your rehearsal starts at ten?""Nine thirty. Rebecca wants everyone there early.""Full cast?""Full cast. Full stage. Full opportunity for me to forget every line I've ever written.""How could you forget lines you wrote yourself?""Because nobody knows how badly I can screw them up better than I do."He laughed.I took another sip of coffee and glanced at the folder beside his phone. "

I was curled up in my blue chair with a glass of wine when August came out of the study, sleeves rolled up, tie gone. He stopped when he saw me.“You’re going to live in that thing, aren’t you?”“I have since I bought it. Why do you think I brought it with me?” I stretched my legs out and took a slow sip. “It’s surprisingly comfortable for something that looks like it lost a fight with a moving truck.”He walked over, wine glass in hand, and looked down at me. The city glittered behind the glass. The chair creaked faintly as I shifted.“You’re staring,” I said.“I’m considering the structural integrity of the legs.”“Rude.”“I'm being practical.” His eyes darkened just enough for me to notice. “Stand up.”I raised an eyebrow but set the glass aside and stood. August stepped into the space I’d just vacated, turned me around by the hips, and bent me forward over the back of the chair in one smooth motion. The worn fabric pressed against my stomach. My hands braced on the seat cushion.“

  • Revenge Dating My Ex's Brother   Making Room

By Wednesday morning, I had discovered that moving in with a billionaire involved considerably more people than moving in with a normal person.Specifically, six.Six professional movers were standing in my living room, waiting for instructions. I looked at the man holding a clipboard."Are you sure you're all here for me?"He checked his paperwork. "Melody Brooks?""Yes.""Then yes, ma'am."I looked around my apartment. I was bringing twelve boxes, two suitcases, and one chair.I'd agreed to let August organize the move because, after spending Tuesday night at his penthouse, I'd realized I didn't particularly want to spend the next three evenings carrying boxes across Manhattan. I'd expected a truck and perhaps two men. Apparently, that was what happened when I failed to specify a maximum occupancy."Okay," I said. "Well, most of my furniture is staying here."The man nodded and glanced at his clipboard. "We have that noted."I stared at him. "Did August send you an inventory of my b
