Aurora POVThe Solstice Glow pack was a world unto itself. High mountains, rolling green hills with stone-built houses as far as the eye could see. It was annoyingly beautiful. Perched like a crown on the mountain, Teddy’s estate shone so brightly it hurt to look at — like it knew what it was hiding. A beacon for all to see, even the gods. Worse, as soon as we had arrived at the border, the guards let us in as if we were expected. It was impossible to stop the jelly in my stomach threshing since we entered the pack grounds. We all felt it. The car was silent except for the hum of the engine. Ethan turned the radio down as we drove. It was almost as if he didn’t want anything to distract us. We were all on our guard. Tropical palms and foliage guided our way up to his estate. His Cliffside villa had an infinity pool where the water overflowed like a waterfall to the pool below. The view was spectacular from here, miles of blue ocean and cliff as far as the eye could see. The warm hued
Luca POV My fingers are cold and covered in dirt. I don’t like dirt on under my nails. My clothes I have been wearing for so long I can’t smell the fabric softener or mum’s scent from when she hugged me anymore. I don’t know how long I have been here for. There are no windows to see when day turns to night. They don’t even bring me food often. My stomach has long stopped rumbling. I keep to the dark corner, hoping they won’t see me. Hoping they will forget about me. I just want my mum and dads. The door metal scraps open, the sound dragging along the floor before the bulb flicker on blinding my eyes. I keep in the shadows though as the lady walks in. “where is the little rat?” she demands, her mismatched eyes scanning the cell for me. I don’t want her to find me. This lady is terrifying. Her skin is covered in black raised veins. Her long blonde hair looks almost white, nothing to how pretty mummy’s is. This lady wears nothing more than a thin black dress that barely covers her bum.
Aurora POV “My work here is clearly done. My pumpkin and I will see you lot tomorrow don’t wait up,” Jaden, snickers pulling Stacey up from her, seat their eyes locked on each other before their hands and mouths fuse back together again.“Don’t destroy my fucking castle,” Elio growls after them as the door slams shut. “Animals,” he mutters under his breath as Kara gives him a look, his anger deflating instantly. “You don’t know for certain. And in the meantime, are we meant to put up with all of this?” Kara just nods and Elio shakes his head, muttering under his breath. I don’t have the bandwidth to deal with this right now.“How do we play this? Teddy doesn’t know we have seen this, as the video has been sent to everyone except our three packs. If we just show up unannounced, it’s going to look fucking obvious,” Sabastian growls as I nod, letting go of his hand to begin pacing the office. “We had the conclave meeting only a week ago can’t we just try calling on packs to see if anyon
Sabasian POVI watched Jaden’s cocky look as he strolled over to Elio’s desk without a care in the world. Never mind the urgency this message gave us. They were going to strike soon. Of that, I was certain. His hands flew quickly across the screen, fingers trying so fast they blurred and all I could hear was the tap tap tap of the keys. This was my thing. I was the hacker in our group. It was me that uncovered this type of information. I had even run a trace program on the dark web looking for something like this. How did Jaden get an alert and not me?Sensing my frustration, Aurora took my hand in hers, giving them a squeeze. It didn’t matter we still found our answers, but I just knew Jaden would be insufferable. More so than normal. “They we have it. I’ve got the IP address. Just give me a few seconds and I’ll have the pack it came from.” He grinned at me, my jaw clicking as I tried not to punch him in the face.“Damn baby you’re so impressive,” Stacey cooed as the two of them lock
Aurora POV The ‘wolf’ is clearly using a modulator to transform his voice, making it trickier to identify who the guy really is. “It’s time for Selene’s reign to end,” my eyes flick to Jaden, his lips pressed in a hard line as he nods at me to continue. Is this a joke?“Too long have we been under her thumb? What has she done for us but expect us to bow down?” The voice continues as my brows knot together. You mean other than giving us life with gifts and abilities? Yeah, not much. It’s only then that it occurs to me that my mates and I have extraordinary powers compared to other wolves. Kara, being the moon goddess daughter, is different and Elio a hybrid has his powers from his demon side, but my brother and Stacey don’t have any other heightened gifts. Why did she only bless us?To make Luca. My stomach twists as the video goes on. “It’s time for a new god to rise, a new type of wolf to be born. No longer are we bound to howl to the moon. No longer will the sting of rejection of o
Aurora POVIt was later that evening Jaden and Stacey had arrived when we met in Elio’s private office. Like the rest of the castle, it had high vaulted ceilings, cool sandstone walls, and mosaic tiles. Despite the setting sun, the castle was still warm — maybe from the fire crackling in the corner more than anything else. Kara and Elio had handed out drinks. We had gone through the greetings and general chitchat.“How do you think I can help you?” Elio mused, his fingers steadily drumming on the back of his office seat where Kara was perched. He towered over her protectively, his presence engulfing the room. His gaze kept flickering to the flames each time a log cracked and popped. “We have reason to believe there is a French coven involved with Luca’s disappearance. We were hoping you might have heard about them, as I just tried meeting with someone at Bloodmoon Bay,” Ethan asked, as Elio’s eyes darkened. His gaze dipped to Kara before masking his features completely. That was a lit
