Chapter 2

Wisdom meets Deshal and Idris after leaving the pack. The three had pedicures, and she and Idris got their nails done. Deshal is waiting for her and his mate to finish when two young ladies sit beside him and flirt. He ignores the ladies and even shows them he has a mate.

Idris stops talking to Wisdom and raises one finger. "Hold that thought. Do you see those two Ms. Thangs hitting on my man?"

"Yep, we know he'll put them in their places if they continue to make fools of themselves." Wisdom is looking at the pink nail polish on her toes. "Good choice." She sees Deshal walking to them.

Idris hasn't taken his eyes off the two women. "Just look at their sleazy tails.  Can you  believe they had the audacity to think they can have my man?"

He kisses Idris's forehead. "Ladies, this is my boyfriend. Should I say any more?"

"Deal with it—damn cheap and trashy asses." Idris snaps his fingers twice.

The two ladies hurried out of the spa, saying they couldn't believe that the 6'3 handsome blonde man was mated to that rude man. 

Wisdom changes the subject and tells them she was at the pack when Beauden arrived. She isn't looking forward to working with him and has even considered resigning the same day Alpha Carmine steps down.

 Idris wants to know what he looks like. Wisdom could describe him from the pictures in the Alpha's office. That's he’s handsome and has short dark brown hair and green eyes. Wisdom adds that Beauden from what she heard from Alpha Carmine and some of the women talking. Beauden is condescending. She believes what they are saying about him is the truth by his tone with her when he calls.

Deshal tells her that talk is going around. Some members want him to be something other than the Alpha of the pack, especially the older members. He even mentioned it to his Father and asked why they felt that way toward Beauden. Lonergan said he didn't know and changed the subject. Deshal wasn't close to him since Beauden was older than he and Wisdom were.    Beauden wouldn't have hung out with them even if they were the same age because they weren't conceded and didn't think the world revolved around them as the kids Beauden considered friends.

Wisdom is wondering why members are against Beauden being their Alpha. Besides being an arrogant jerk, what else can it be," She's brought out of her thoughts when Deshal cell phone beeps. She and Idris knew by the expression he gave them after reading the text he wasn't taking them lunch.

It's Alpha Carmine, and he wants Deshal to meet with the future Alpha and future Beta Roarke. Deshal isn't looking forward to this meeting. He has to attend since he's the number one warrior now.

Idris is going off because the meeting is on short notice and says it can't be that important since rogues aren't attacking. Wisdom is laughing at Deshal, trying to calm him down. He offers to pay for their lunch and to buy them both outfits.

Idris folds his arms and then holds one hand out. Deshal put his Mastercard in Idris's hands. "Sorry to interrupt your birthday pampering day." He kisses Wisdom's forehead.

"It's fine. Now go before the Alpha calls you." Wisdom looks at him, walks away, then looks at Idris. "You should be ashamed of yourself."

"True. But I'm not. I got us new outfits. It works every time" Idris chuckles and holds the credit card up.

Wisdom laughs. "He's going to stop falling for that trick one day." 

“Yep, But today isn't that day. Let’s go do some damage.” Idris takes her hand, leading her out of the spa.

Roarke noticed Beauden hadn't heard anything he said. He hit his shoulder. "Who is she? Which one of the she-wolves are you about to conquer?"

He waves his arms. "I wouldn't fool with either of them. Besides, even if I wanted to, my father wouldn't allow that. Pandora called me this morning. I ignored the damn call. She had the nerve to text me that I could have woken her up before I left and something about taking her imaginary virginity. It's a damn good thing I was on my damn toes and recorded her ass plotting to name me as her baby's father. Virginity, my ass. Her ass probably hadn't been a virgin in years. Can you believe she had the nerve to act as if she was a good girl? I have never met a good  girl before."

“That's some fucked up shit” Roarke shakes his head. “What are you going to do about her?”

"Ignore her scheming ass for now. Damn,  I'll give her ass an award, she had fooled the hell out of me. I thought she was a lovely young lady. It just shows you don't judge a book by its cover. " Beauden looks at his father walking into the room with Efrem, Deshal, and two other men. He starts to say something until he hears Deshal saying he left Wisdom at the spa.

Deshal tells the Alpha he was at the spa with Wisdom, treating her to a day of pampering and lunch.

Alpha Carmine laughs, "Oh, I'm in big trouble now. That I interrupted your day. Wisdom is the only one that keeps me on the straight and narrow."

Beauden clenches his fists and frowns, thinking Deshal is Wisdom's boyfriend. "My damn mate has a boyfriend. Hell no, I can't allow that. Her ass could have waited for me."

His Father starts the meeting, but he can't get over the fact that his mate's boyfriend is sitting across from him. Then his mind goes to all the pleasure Deshal is giving his mate. Beauden cringes when he thinks about Wisdom moaning and touching Deshal. He rubs his forehead, wiping the sweat off, and thinks, "Son of a bitch."

When the meeting is over, Deshal looks at his watch. "At least I'll make it in time to take her to a movie" He rushes out of the office.

His Father stares at Beauden, wondering why he is clenching his fist and what is wrong with Deshal taking his best friend to a movie.

Efrem and Roarke are wondering what has got Beauden so angry that he has turned red.

Beauden walks out of the office, cursing under his breath about his father encouraging that man to date his damn mate.

"What in the hell has gotten into him?"  Alpha Carmine mumbles

Pandora is furious that Beauden left her sleeping after making love to her. Now he's not answering her calls or texting her back. Her friend Jacy has been watching her for almost two hours, going on and on about how she can't let him get away with it. Jacy doesn't see what the reason for her being upset is since she didn't love him, and he was only a scapegoat so her father wouldn't kill her lover Paulo.

"Let's see what the arrogant fucker says when I take his damn pack. I don't care how long it takes. That jerk's pack will be mine, and his ass will die in front of me.

Jacy throws her hands up. "Whoa, girl, you have lost your damn mind. You want Beauden Ralston's pack because he fucked you and left to go home. That's ridiculous. Hell no, my family, my mate, and I aren't fighting in that damn war. Nope. Besides, your ass will be showing soon. I suggest you worry about this situation first." She’s looking at Alpha Larkin and Luna June entering the room, and she tries to signal Pandora. But Pandora is still talking about attacking Fierce Growlers's pack.

Alpha Larkin walks over and taps his daughter's shoulder. Pandora jumps and almost falls when she sees her parents staring at her.

"Continue telling us how you will attack the largest pack in Colorado. The last time I checked, I was still the Alpha here, and I only go around attacking other Alpha's packs if they come after my pack first. That hasn't happened." He tilts his head to the left. "We're waiting. The reason better be damn good."

Luna June sits down and folds her arms. "Young lady, I agree with your father. Do you need a minute to think of a lie?"

Jacy bows to the Alpha and Luna and swiftly leaves the room. When she reaches the hallway, she pats her chest and thinks, "I have never seen the Alpha that mad before. The look Luna June was giving Pandora was scary as hell. Damn, I'm glad I'm not her. " She looks back in the room at Pandora crying.

Pandora couldn't think of a reason to tell him. She couldn't tell them she was pregnant. It did come to mind to say she was pregnant with Beauden's pup.  Knowing Beauden, he would have asked for a DNA test right on the spot. Once the test shows it's not he's not the father, then her father will surely command her to tell him who the father is. He might have banished Paulo and never officially announced her Alpha of the pack. The only thing she could come up with was the future Alpha broke her heart, and she was only speaking out of anger. 

Alpha Larkin waves her out of the room. Alpha Larkin stares at her walking upstairs. "That girl couldn't tell the truth if her life depended on it. "

"No, she can't. Her tail would be dead in so damn fast. Pandora believes we're stupid and don't know about her promiscuous ways." The Luna cut her eyes at her mate. 

He shakes his head. "Don't worry. That girl will never be the Alpha of this pack. Not as long as you and I are alive."
