Charles' POV
Mr Adams just left me in charge of everything while he left the company happily with Dave.
I haven't seen this side of Mr Adams before. He looked so happy. I just hope the relationship they have between them becomes something of benefit to this company and not it's downfall.
Well, however it may end, I still have work to do.
Hilton POV
"No mom! What happened to the University we have here!?" I said in anger.
"We know what's good for you Hilton and that university isn't good enough for you." My mom replied.
"Really? You want what's best for me? Or maybe you just want to push me as far away as you can from Dave?" I replied.
"That's enough Hilton! Not a single word! You are going to study abroad and that's final." My dad yelled.
"But... But..." I said.
"Not a single word young man. I know you only want to attend the university here so you can have your chances to continue meeting Dave. Well, news flash for you, that's not every going to happen! Now go to your room!" Dad said.
I walked up the stairs to my room angrily. I even had some tears running down my cheeks.
I and Dave has been childhood friends since we were five. We are the same age, so we got along very well.
I really don't know the kind of hatred my parents have for him that hasn't subsided in all these years. I could have given Dave my phone number so that when in future, he would give me a call, but he is just so busy these days with his new job. Dad has already left for his meeting by now. It's five minutes after six already and he has a meeting by six.
Hilton's mother POV
I know it hurts him now but he will thank us later. What we are doing is for his own good but he doesn't know it yet.
Dave isn't a bad person but their friendship is a distraction for my son. We don't hate him at all, even though Hilton thinks so.
Hilton spends most of his time with Dave and can hardly create time for his books. I see him almost everytime at night, trying to stay awake and read but he always doses off to dreamland.
I remember quite well when we went abroad for a year. Hilton was at the top of his class. He would always have an "A" in every subject but ever since we returned home and he continued his friendship with Dave, he dropped to just "C" and "D".
I don't know why he didn't notice this at all on his own.
Dave POV
Mr Adams continued asking me questions about myself. He asked me what I want to be when I grow up, what kind of life I imagined my self being in in the next ten years of my life. He even asked some minor things like, my favorite colour, food, sports and so on.
I never knew that he would ask me so much questions. It was so stressful but I answered all.
When I told him I wanted to own a company like he did, he told me that I can't match up to him. I became shocked. I looked at him in surprise. I never expected such response. He then burst into laughter and told me he was just joking and that I should have seen the look on my face.
I and Mr Adams have been in the restaurant for the past forty minutes now.
I enjoyed his company in the restaurant but sometimes he would speak in a way I can't quite understand. We were done from the restaurant and it was time for Mr Adams to pay the bill.
Mr Adams took out his wallet and searched through it then counted the amount and gave it to the waiter.
"Let's go. I'll drop you home" He said.
I nodded.
We entered the car together and he started the car.
"Tell me something about your family." He said.
"Me?" I asked.
What a dumb response. Of course it's me. No one else is in the car but us.
"Yes, of course you." He replied.
"What do your parents do for a living?" He asked.
"My father died three years ago and my mother just stays home. She doesn't have a job. I'm the only one working to feed the both of us." I replied.
"That's fascinating. I'm quite impressed. Most widows I see around here do all the work, even if their children are old enough to help." He said.
"Thank you sir." I replied.
"You know what Dave?" He asked.
"No sir. What?" I replied.
"I want to help you and your mother out. You dress so well so you should live in a good home too." He said.
"What are you trying to say sir?" I asked with a confused look on my face.
"I want you two to move from that place to one of the houses owned by my company." He said.
"I really don't want to be a burden to you sir." I replied quite surprised.
I never expected that he would make such an offer.
"And I don't think I and my mother can afford to pay rent in a big house." I added.
"Oh, no no no. It's free, think of it as a gift from me to you." He replied.
"Thank you sir. You don't know how much this means to me and my mother." I said with tears in my eyes.
"Don't worry about it Dave." He said.
"I'll be coming to your place tomorrow to talk to your mother about it in person." He added.
"Okay sir, thank you once again sir." I replied.
"Don't mention." He replied.
We finally reached my house and he stopped the car. I turned to look at him and he seemed to have gotten lost in his thoughts.
"Any problem sir?" I asked.
He didn't respond. I don't know how he could have just trailed off immediately after stopping his car.
"Hello. Sir?" I said and he still didn't respond.
I don't know if it was the right thing to do but I took the risk and clapped at his face.
In front of his face not on it.
He finally snapped out of it.
"What did you do that for?" He asked.
"I'm so sorry sir but I've been calling you for the past five minutes but you weren't responding." I replied.
"Oh. I'm sorry about that. I was just thinking about... Something." He said.
I suspected he wasn't telling the truth but I decided not to dig into it.
"Okay sir. Good night." I said.
"Good night and goodbye." He replied and drove off.
I wonder what he must have been thinking about that seemed to be giving him a lot of trouble.
Adams POVWhen I arrived at Dave's place I started thinking about the beautiful woman again. This place reminds me of her. It was just a bit farther away I saw her. I just can't seem to take my mind off her. Since the night I set my eyes on her she has been stuck in my mind. Why was she hiding from me in the morning? Perhaps she just recognized me as the drunk man who was after her.One thing is for sure. I must have her. Such a woman must not go to waste.I heard a loud clap and jolted out of my thoughts."What did you do that for?" I asked Dave who clapped at my face."I'm sorry sir but I've been calling you for the past five minutes but you weren't responding." He replied."Oh. I'm sorry about that, I was just thinking about... Something." I replied in a not so convincing tone."Okay sir. Good night." He said."Good night and goodbye." I replied and drove off.
Dave POVI just left from Hilton's home. I don't really know why he was grounded but at least I have his number now.His father, on the other hand, was acting weird. He behaved differently with me today. I mean that, this is the first time he has behaved this nice to me. I think something's fishy.Oh well, I don't have the time to think about all these things right now. I have to get to work. It's a good thing that Hilton's father didn't waste me time.I reached home before Mr Charles could arrive to pick me up. My mother called me on the phone but u didn't pick. I walked into the house instead."I was just calling you. How did it go?" She asked."It went well." I replied."Was Hilton's parents there?" I only saw his dad. He is the one who gave me Hilton's number and told that Hilton wasn't allowed to see anyone since he is under punishment." I replied.
"Mom! What are you doing here?!" My son, Hilton yelled in surprised."I am here to stop you from making the worst mistake of your life." I replied."Madam please calm down." Dave's mother said."Stay out of this woman." I said to her."Hilton, I will not stand aside and watch you ruin your future with this woman's son. Go home now!" I said in anger."Please leave. You can't just come into someone's house and start laying insults." Dave's mom said to me."Yes. I am leaving. And I am doing so with my son! I won't leave him here with your distraction of a son." I said."Get out!" She replied."Please mom let's just go. Please stop saying hurtful things to her. I'm tired of hearing all that. Please." Hilton begged."Let's go son. I've had enough of this stinky place." I said and dragged my son out. This won't be the last she'd hear of me.Anna PO
Dave POVIt's another new day. Although I'm kind of upset that Mr Adams postponed the day he was supposed to transfer us to a new house.Oh well, who am I to oppose? It's not my money and it's not my house."Good morning mother." I said to my mother immediately she woke up."Good morning son. You're getting ready for work already?" She asked."Yes mother. I'm afraid I might not have time for breakfast today because I don't think I have enough time to go and buy it." I replied."That's why I am your mother. Don't worry. I'll get it for you." She said."Thanks a million." I replied. She left the house and went on her way as I continued preparing.Anna POVI'll definitely not let my son go to work on an empty stomach. Not when I know that there is enough money for food. That reminds me. What about his boss? He was supposed to come yesterday wasn't he? I gue
"Hello. I would like to speak to Hilton if you don't mind." I said."Sorry but that's not possible. You see, Hilton won't be able to speak to you from now on." The voice said.It was then I recognized the voice to be that of Hilton's father."How can this be sir? I asked you for Hilton's number but you gave me yours instead." I said."You will never be able to reach my son again. Now he can finally be successful without you disturbing his life. He has traveled abroad and you will never see him again." Hilton's dad said."But... What have I done to deserve this?" I asked. He didn't answer. He just cut the call.I felt so shattered. Hilton is my best friend. How could his parents be against our friendship?Hilton's mom POV"Do you have it with you?" I asked."Yes madam. I have it right here." He replied."Where? Let me see." I said and he
Anna POVI saw my son standing outside watching a car drive away."Dave? Why are you back so soon?" I asked him."Mother!" He yelled and ran to me. He hugged me tightly and started crying."What happened Dave? Did you get fired?" I asked, hoping he didn't."No mother. These are tears of joy. Mother our lives have changed for the better." He said."Really? How? I mean, what happened?" I asked anxiously."Mr Adams." He said and my heart skipped. What did that useless man tell him? What did he do that has my son excited? I just hope it doesn't involve me cause I don't have anything to do with drunks."Mother! Are you even listening to me?" He asked and I flinched."Yes, yes, I'm listening." I replied."Okay. As I was saying, Mr Adams, my boss," He started and I breathe a sigh of relief.I can't believe his nice boss has the sa
Adams POVI was waiting for the lady to pass by at the usual spot I expected her to.I got bored of waiting and decided to walk around a bit, hoping to maybe bump into her. Then I came across Dave's house and decided that maybe I should check if Charles has taken them away. Charles just arrived and I watched what he was doing. He spoke some things to Dave before they decided to leave. This is the point I got the greatest surprise of my life.I saw the beautiful lady in question, coming out of Dave's house. How could it be? So she is Dave's mother? Look at the way she looks so young and beautiful. My mouth fell open. One would never expect that such a woman would have a son the age of Dave.I saw Charles look at me before he could enter his car. I'm sure he must be wondering what I'm doing here.I don't blame him anyway. If I were in his shoes
Dave POVI stretched wide on my bed. It's been a long time I've slept on such a comfortable bed. I went to my mother's room to check if my mother was awake yet.Yes, you heard me right, my mother's room. We now have different rooms of our own."Good morning mother." I greeted as I opened the door."Good morning son. Why aren't you prepared for work yet?" She asked."There is still a lot of time left." I told her and pointed at the clock."Oh. Yes, you are right." She said.I got some money from the back I kept it in and went back to my mother's room."Mother, what should I buy?" I asked."Don't worry about that. I will handle it. Just start preparing for work." She said."Okay mother. I said and gave her the money. She stood up and took the money with her
