I barged into Amelia’s office, my blood boiling.

She was seated right behind her desk, and she was engrossed in a document,and her pen moving with fast

The moment the door swung open, her eyes flicked up, locking onto mine.

“It’s alright, Lucas,” she said coolly to her assistant.

“You can leave.”

Lucas bowed and slipped out, leaving us alone.

I marched toward her desk, my fists clenched. Amelia barely acknowledged me, her gaze dropping back to her work.

“You know, Mr. Caldwell,” she said, her voice sharp, “there’s a reason they invented the word ‘knocking.’ It’s so people like you can show some basic etiquette.”

Her words stung, throwing my own past lecture back in my face.

I forced a smile, but it didn’t reach my eyes.

“Why are you doing it?”

“Doing what?” She glanced up, her expression unreadable.

“ Stop playing dumb, Amelia,” I snapped, slamming my hand on her desk.

The impact echoed in the room, but she barely flinched, her composure infuriatingly intact.
