FREYA'S POV

My stomach dropped. Sam stepped toward the monitor.

“Are you certain?”

“Yes, sir. We’ve checked it twice.”

He stared at the figures for several seconds. Then he slowly straightened.

“That’s enough.”

His voice had changed. The calm tone he had used earlier was gone. In its place was something colder, something that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

He turned toward the other officers.

“There’s definitely something we’re missing here.”

  • Revenge With My Brother’s Best Friend    Chapter 65 [THE END]

VICKY’S POV Three Weeks Later The church doors opened, and the wedding march began to play. I looked down at the white lace dress I was draped in, pullin’ my veil a little tighter over my face to hide the hot sting of tears formin’ in my eyes. I was sulkin’ real bad, my chest feelin’ heavy. Cindy had called me yesterday, cryin’ over the phone and sweet-talkin’ her way through a miserable excuse about how a last-minute flight cancellation and a sudden fever in her daughter meant she couldn’t make it to my wedding. It had completely messed up my entire day. I didn’t have any real family to speak of back home in Boston. My parents were divorced, and they hated each other so much that neither of them wanted anything to do with the other. They couldn’t even set aside their differences for special occasions. As far as they were concerned, the sun and the moon could never exist in the same sky, and they sure as hell weren’t about to make an exception for their daughter’s weddin

VICKY’S POV “What?!” I shrieked. My heart was poundin' against my ribs like a war drum, and my mind went completely blank. I stared up at Leonardo in total disbelief. I couldn’t believe he had just announced our wedding right in front of everyone: the board members, the executives, and every single one of those miserable vultures who had been whisperin’ shit about me since the second I walked into this building. And God, he didn’t even give me a heads-up! I wasn’t even remotely prepared for this. This crazy old man sure knew how to make me lose my mind. The whisperin’ and murmurin’ around the table died down completely the exact second Leo made the announcement. You could’ve heard a pin drop on the carpet. Everyone sat there lookin’ like they had just seen a ghost. Finally, one of the board members managed to summon enough courage to clear his throat, adjustin’ his stiff tie with a shaky hand as he looked between the two of us. “Mr. Verilli … if I heard you correctly

LEO’S POV I had called an emergency meeting that morning for all the department heads in the Verilli Group. I wanted everyone gathered in the main boardroom to hear my announcement. I walked into the room, and everyone was already seated. My eyes scanned the long table until they landed on Vicky. She wore a fitted cream blouse tucked into a black skirt, her waves falling around her face. Even with her serious expression, she looked adorable, and I had to stop myself from smiling. The moment our eyes met, she caught me off guard with a playful, wicked little wink. A sudden wave of warmth spread through my chest, making me want to smile, but I quickly hid it behind my usual serious expression. I walked to the head of the table and took my seat. Alaric sat to my right, looking a little confused by the sudden urgency of the meeting. One of the senior board members cleared his throat and leaned forward. "Mr. Verilli, we received the notice about this emergency meeting, and we

  • Revenge With My Brother’s Best Friend    Chapter 62

LEO’S POV The next day, Vicky and her assistant, Freya, went back to work as usual. Vicky knew absolutely nothing about what had happened on that ship the day before, and Freya knew better than to tell her. I could not have Vicky thinking that the business and the position she had just taken over from my daughter was dangerous. It was important to keep her in the dark, if only to keep her safe. I did not want her exposed to the darker side of being tied to a man like me. So, the best thing I could do was keep my eyes and ears around her at all times, protecting her just as Agent Mercer had been doing from the beginning. I had not spoken to Vicky or seen her face in two days, and every possessive part of me was itching to see her again. I missed the sharp fire of her tongue. I missed the defiant look in her eyes. Should I go see her at home later tonight? Yes, I thought to myself, pulling down the cuffs of my shirt. That would do perfectly. But for now, I needed to focus

  • Revenge With My Brother’s Best Friend    Chapter 61

FREYA'S POV My jaw literally hit the floor, because what kind of brilliance and intelligence was this?! How was he able to turn the entire situation in our favor so quickly? And the fish? How the hell had he even managed that? I knew damn well those fish weren’t on board before, so how had he done it? Leonardo Verilli, what a sly man you are. No wonder your enemies couldn’t get to you over the years. You were always a thousand steps ahead of everyone else. Sam was practically fuming with disappointment. He seemed to be having a hard time accepting the truth right in front of him. He tore open the third, fourth, and fifth crates, his face turning to complete bewilderment as hundreds of pounds of frozen seafood stared back at him under the bright beams of the flashlights. There was no contraband, as he’d expected to find. There was absolutely nothing illegal whatsoever. It was just a massive shipment of commercial frozen fish, packed tightly into crates to account for the ex

You gotta be kiddin’ me!” Sam ignored her. “That difference in weight is too significant to dismiss. We’ve now checked it with two separate devices, and both readings match. There’s additional weight on this vessel that isn’t accounted for in the cargo records.” He paused, looking from one officer to another. “I want every section of this ship checked. The cargo holds, the storage compartments, the maintenance areas, everyth

~DAMIAN’S POV~ Cindy threw Vicky a look across the room, so fierce it could’ve roasted her on the spot. Vicky, the little traitor, instantly whipped her head away, pretending to admire the wine list like she hadn’t just helped me set this whole thing up. I bit the inside of my cheek to stop my

~Cindy’s POV~ My brain short-circuited. I jolted, sucking in a sharp breath that tasted like chlorine and trouble. My back arched, chasing his touch shamelessly, but he quickly pulled away, a taunting smirk gracing his face. My cheeks burned. I had never felt so disappointed. “See that?” His vo

Damian’s POV Two days. Forty-eight goddamn hours of her stuck in my head like a bad song on repeat. I couldn’t stop thinking about her, about that evening. How those blue eyes glazed when I had her pinned against the glass, how she moaned my name like it was a fuc*ing prayer. “Damian, please…”
