KAEL

The woods were darker than I expected and I thought briefly if it was because it would rain any moment. Regardlessly I moved quietly through the shrubs darting my eyes here and there for any signs of him.

The drizzle that had been falling earlier made it harder for me to catch a whiff of his scent even as I stepped past the first line of trees.

By the time I walked a few more steps in, the rain turned heavier, soaking through my shirt until the fabric clung to my skin.

“Damn! Why in the hell did he ever think of it while going to the woods.” I muttered silently.

My boots sank a little into the damp soil, each step crunching into the twigs as well as the wet soil.

I told myself I wasn’t searching, that I just needed air myself…Still deep down I knew better.

Logan had been off all evening. Right from his frown, the way he kept pulling out his phone, the quick looks he and Lorna exchanged when they thought no one was watching. Something was definitely wrong.

My mind told me it wa

ASHLEY The moment Kael walked out of the hall, something in me felt like something was off. His absence brought a bit of calm to the tension as well as skepticism. For a moment everything slowed. The laughter, the clinking of glasses, the low hum of music at that moment, all of it felt distant compared to the silence he left behind.I didn’t want to stand there pretending anymore like everything was alright when it wasn't. Matter of fact we should be telling him about the entire situation of things but with this way I was doubting if we could.Logan had been restless all night and it was a point to start from. I’d watched him frown at his phone, slip out of conversations, and avoid Kael’s eyes like the truth was written on his face.Twice I had told this to Lorna. I had told her that he might blow this up and sweet Lorna had thought that I was exaggerating till the last minute when he had walked out awkwardly.I couldn’t let this drag on. Not with Kael already suspicious, not wit

KAEL The sky was darkened with the promise of more rain as I sat still and quiet, trying not to get absorbed in whatever thought was running through my heart. For whatever reason, I still couldn't get the thought of Ashley off my chest. It had been minutes since we fought, and even if I wasn't convinced then, I was starting to tell myself that perhaps I was starting to do too much by giving the entire situation more attention than I should.I sat there close to the window, stapling my fingers while in deep thought. My gaze was far away to the end of the woods that I could see in a spatial image that stuck to the back of my mind. One thought flickered at the back of my mind, and for a minute I almost gave into the tempting option of going for a run.I glanced up at the clock. It was barely three hours till dinner, and going out there would mean that I wouldn't be able to eat early for dinner.“No, Asher. Not today," I muttered gently to my wolf that I could feel stirring in my soul.I

KAELShould I be worried or shouldn't I?Who knew that all of these things could cause so many doubts as I was having that moment. Maybe all of this was absurd but still I felt like it was my fault. The thought that I could just trust her more felt constant in my mind all through that morning. At the same time I thought that I could admit that all of this was my fault but what I won't accept was the fact that I had caused all of this…Not when Ashley herself wasn't making this easy for me to deal with.I heaved heavily and closed my eyes, I could still feel the words restrained at the back of my mind trying to force it out that moment and admit to all that was happening. Logan all this while said nothing as he appeared to be in his own wild fantasy as he had been lately. What was on his mind as well? There were many questions that I had zero answers to even as I tried to understand them."Guess we will have to leave this for later.” I muttered as though I was still giving it a deep

ASHLEYWhat a Night! It was the first thing that crossed my mind that morning as I lay awake on the bed thinking of the nightmare that I had.Part of my mind keeps buzzing over the situation even though he told me it was all fine and there was nothing to worry about . The why's of it is what I had no idea about. The spot where Kael was last night still carried his faint scent. My attempts at getting the memories out of my head were frail even as I carried through with washing my face and changing back to the dress that I will be wearing that day. Standing in front of the mirror. I gaze at myself for what felt like a while. “You are going to be fine Ashley. Everything will fall in place.” I mutter to myself while brushing my hair backward. The words felt heavy even in my lips enough that I didn't find myself believing any of it.In a way I felt a bit stupid, perhaps I should have kept this to myself judging by how Kael has reacted.Still yet it felt like this was the last thing

ASHLEYThe candlelight flickers in the small sitting room, throwing a shade of light across Lorna’s worried face. She sits with her knees pulled close, mad hands clasped as if she’s holding back something. I lean forward, my voice quiet though my heart pounds inside me.“We can’t keep waiting,” I say. “Kael is already suspicious like I said earlier.” " Every day we hide this, we make it worse.”I point out.Lorna shakes her head quickly. “I don’t know, Ashley. What if he reacts badly? What if this pushes him to do something crazy.” It was her turn to sigh. Her eyes are wide, almost frightened, and for a moment I see the fear that was in her eyes. She was not the strong woman I know her to be at this moment but someone filled with fear.I reach across the table, laying my hand over hers in a bid to offer support. “Lorna, listen to me. If we tell him while he’s angry, he’ll explode. But if we plan it, if we bring him to a table like I suggest, maybe then he will listen.”She gives th
