"You mean you got all these injuries from a fall?" Martin asked in disbelief.

"Yes," I replied guilt-ridden.

Martin's POV

For some reasons I could not fathom, I sensed that she was lying. Perhaps, it was true that she got the swollen head from hitting her head against a stone but I couldn't understand why she has the bruises. Aside from that, there was a kind of deep sadness in her eyes.

"Whitney, I will be honest with you. I don't believe you. I perceive something bad must have happened to you, nonetheless, I will not coax you to tell me," I paused as I gazed at her.

"Whenever you are ready to talk, I am always here for you. I have got your back anytime. You have to get up now and go and start your morning chores. You are way past your waking time," I said as I got up from the bed.
