Chapter Twenty-Two

 

Dale often hung out on the other side of Market Boulevard, at a business called, Club Vapor. Few people acquainted with the club because it performed a secluded strip joint in North Atlanta.

He had met Lorraine five months earlier. She helped him get his mind off of Shannon. He admitted he and his wife couldn’t do the things they used to since she had become ill. Shannon had sickle cell anaemia. Dale afraid she would die soon, leaving him behind to take care of Laura and Michelle alone. Although the doctors hadn’t diagnosed her impending death, she looked close to it. Dale couldn’t recall the last occasion he made love to his wife. He felt plagued if he touched her. They slept in separate rooms. Dale spent most of his time at Lorraine’s house when he wasn’t working. Shannon called him, wanting to know where he was, if he was okay.

Dale took good care of his wife, no matter the circumstances. He would never leave her and his kids. Lorraine encouraged him to leave her, put the
