Chapter 24 - First heat!

“Mom! Wait!” I was feeling far too dizzy to walk at the pace she was walking and I stopped. She turned to look at me and confusion flooded her eyes.

“What’s wrong, sweetheart?” She smiled and it looked familiar. Why did it feel as if I was in a fog?!

“It’s nothing. What did you want to show me?” My mind was reeling, and my emotions were all over the place. I knew my mom was dead but yet … She was right there in front of me. I followed her out of the hall and into a long dark passage which didn’t look familiar. She was walking too fast for me and I couldn’t keep up. When she let go of my hand, I panicked. I didn’t want to go back to the world where she was dead! I didn’t care if this was a dream.

“Mom! Don’t let go! Wait!” I cried out as the sound of her footsteps echoed further and further away from me! “Mom!” I cried out in the darkness, but she was gone. I was alone and it was so dark that I couldn’t see my own hands! Which way did I go? Where the hell was I? I was just about
