Alison
I opened my eyes and, for a moment, I thought I had died. I had to be in heaven or something! There was no way I could be anywhere else! The room was luxurious. More luxurious than anything I had ever seen. My hand slipped over the bedding and it was so soft to the touch! Spencer’s bedding wasn’t even that soft! Fine, so I didn’t have that much experience, and I had not seen many bedrooms, but I was convinced I was in heaven and that was that.
I got out of bed and nearly jumped right back when my feet touched the cold floor and I realized I was completely naked! Did people walk around naked in heaven?! Okay, so werewolves sometimes walk around naked after shifting, but I couldn’t for the life of me imagine people walking about naked in such a sacred place!
I pulled the covers tightly around my body and started looking around the room. I was just about to peek into one of the cupboards when the door opened, making me nearly jump out of my skin! The moment our eyes met, it was as if everything finally made sense. The huge bulky wolf had the same eyes that I had!
“Alison!” He gasped before closing the gap between us and pulling me into his arms. His scent was strong! He was a rogue. Was that why they left me at the orphanage? I pushed out of his grip and frowned.
“How did you know my name?” I had a million other questions, but that seemed to be the first one as the words flowed out of my mouth. He took my hand and led me to the small sitting area near the fire.
“You are my daughter, Alison. I’ve been looking for you since the day you were stolen from us.” He frowned and I felt so confused. This was clearly not heaven.
“Where are we?” I looked around the room and I didn’t see many signs of a female wolf around.
“We are in my room in our pack house. This is our kingdom, and you are its princess. You were taken from us when you were just a couple of weeks old.” Sadness filled his eyes. I was afraid to ask, but I had to know. I could feel that what he was telling me was the truth. Almost as if I had known it all my life but just forgot and was now remembering. As if I had woken up from a terrible nightmare to find my real life was much better than the awful dream.
“You are my father, and you are the king, right?” I was just trying to process the fact that this wolf was telling me I was his daughter and a princess! He nodded. “Where is my mother?”
“She died of a broken heart. The doctors tried to tell me something different, but she never recovered after you were taken.” He looked away, but not before I saw the tears in his eyes. My mind was telling me that this couldn’t possibly be the truth while my heart was screaming for me to accept that I had somehow found my family.
“I need some clothes.” I still had so many questions, but I thought they would be best asked if I was dressed, and I was relieved when the door opened again and a young rogue female walked in with a dress draped over her arms. It was the most beautiful dress I have ever seen!
“It belonged to your mother, sweetheart. If it’s okay, I thought you might like to wear them for today. I can have new ones made as soon as the seamstress has your measurements.” The man was faffing around me like a father should be, but it still felt really strange. I knew he was my father. I could feel it. I just couldn’t believe it! I nodded, and they gave me a moment to get dressed.
I was half expecting to find the door locked as soon as I got dressed, but as I turned the knob, it opened. My father was waiting for me on the other side of the door and the man standing beside him looked even more familiar.
“You saved me!” I gasped as it all came flooding back! I had passed out because of sheer exhaustion and I remember in my haze seeing his face!
“Yes, your highness. I am Ralph. I am your father’s beta. I’m very pleased to meet you.” He held out his hand and I took it. We shook hands for only a moment before the huge wolf beside me softly growled. Ralph let go instantly and I burst out laughing.
“Come, sweetheart. We have a lot to catch up on and I want to get some food into that tiny body of yours.” My dad … I couldn’t believe it! My dad held out his elbow and I softly placed my hand in the crook before he took me to the dining room. As we walked through the double doors, I gasped. We were met by the biggest pack I had ever seen! Silence fell as all eyes turned to us and I suddenly felt incredibly self-conscious!
“Everyone! The princess has returned.” My dad announced, and a loud roar erupted as the rogues celebrated. My father was the king of the rogues! The shock was almost too much to deal with as he led me to the table all the way in the front and pulled out the chair beside his. I sat down and he sat down beside me. He was right. We had a lot to talk about, and I was starving.
All of this was so new to me, as an omega brought me a plate filled to the brim! I wasn’t sure if I could eat all of it, but I sure as hell was going to try! The food was delicious, and I was grateful that my dad gave me the opportunity to eat some of it first before he started asking me where I had been all this time. He told me how they had searched for me and when I told him about the pack that exiled me, he was furious.
I wasn’t ready to tell him that I had been kicked out by my mate. He was already fuming because I was in the one place he thought I was. I was shocked to find out that, according to the Wolf King, I wasn’t there. I wondered if we would ever find out the truth about how I ended up in the orphanage.
Spenser It took a couple of days, but I finally started to feel more like myself again. I could only guess that the omega died. It was the only explanation I could think of for the pain finally subsiding. The rumours about what happened spread through my pack and I had to quickly get us back on track. Those damn rogues could attack at any moment, and I was just lucky that they hadn’t. I had survived the rejection and so had my pack. We could finally move on with our lives. There was a small possibility that I could get a second chance mate at some point in my life, but I didn’t count on it happening. We were fighting a war. I had to keep my focus on that! Alison It was incredibly strange at first. My father had my room redecorated with everything I so much as looked at, and I had to keep reminding him that I was used to a lot less. I also now have a cupboard filled with both new dresses and some of my mother’s old ones. I liked them even though they were apparently out of fashion.
AlisonMy life instantly changed the moment I found my father. Or at least, the moment that Ralph found me. I would never give Spenser any of the credit. He might have been the one who started the ball rolling for me to end up where Ralph could find me, but he didn’t do it because he was trying to help. Spenser rejected me without a second thought! The pain was slowly subsiding.I had to credit my dad, Ralph and the pack for that. They were nothing like I thought they would be. They were nothing like the people in the kingdom thought. I had heard stories over the years, but it was all hearsay. Very few people who actually saw what was going on beyond our borders spoke about it. I very quickly figured out that it was the king’s way of making sure that his people wouldn’t leave his kingdom.“Okay, so you started this war because you believed he kidnapped me or, worse, that he had me killed?” I frowned at my dad who had been telling me their side of the story. I had been there a couple o
AlisonConvincing my father to leave their pack territory was a huge thing. Ralph quickly got what I was planning, and he helped me to convince my father in the end. The warriors needed rest. Proper rest. Away from borders that they had to protect. Some of the younger warriors were thrown into the deep end and were never properly trained. One of the advantages of my position as omega in the old kingdom was that I had a lot of time to just watch what was going on without anyone realizing I was doing it. I wanted to give them all the information I had about the army. I wanted them to know which step they were going to take before they even took it.In order for us to properly prepare, we had to leave our home. We had to get away from everything that could distract us. I wanted to be trained so that I could lead our army in the final battle. I wanted to be there when we ran over their defenses. I wanted to be there when that monstrous king was ripped from his high horse and his throne wa
SpenserIt was the strangest thing! The rogues simply disappeared as though they were never there! I walked through what used to be their town and it was a complete ghost town. I was half expecting one of them to jump out at us at some point or some trap, but they were gone. From the state of their town, they left in a hurry. Furniture was strewn all over the place. I found a cupboard still filled with food that had gone off. It had been two months since the last attack and nobody had seen a single rogue since then. Since it was so unbelievable, the king instructed me to check it out myself. I met up with my warriors in the square before returning home.I wasn’t sure how the king was going to take the news, and I wasn’t looking forward to telling him. The rogues were gone. The war was over.AlisonWe watched Spenser and his men walking through town from the safety of the cliff. Our people were still keeping an eye on our territory. We had to make sure that nobody moved in and took ove
AlisonMy father came out of nowhere and told me to wait with the army while he moved forward. I had learned to respect his wishes over the past two years, but it was difficult to watch him approach the people who hated us so much. I was even more surprised when the old king suddenly appeared on the other side of the field, and he met my father in the middle.I couldn’t hear what they were saying, and my hearing was the best in the pack. Ever since my father crowned me queen, I have grown even stronger. The two old kings shook hands in the middle of what was going to be the most epic battle of all time and my father returned. He was frowning, and I just knew I wasn’t going to like what he was about to say.“I’m sorry, Alison.” My father frowned before turning his attention to my pack. “The old king and I have come to an agreement. We have all lived without war for the past two years, and we want to keep living in peace. We’ve all lost so many people that we both feel we don’t want to
AlisonI was furious, but I couldn’t tell my father. All that work was basically wasted. He also made a huge decision on his own that was meant to be my decision to make. I wouldn’t have agreed to a truce and he knew it. I knew that was why he did what he did. Over the next couple of days, I was torn between what my father wanted and the revenge plan I had been working on for two years. As I walked through town, it also quickly became clear that the pack was confused. Some were relieved about it, just like my father was.“The king declared war because of the princess. Now that she is back, there is no reason for us to fight anymore.” I overheard a guard who didn’t realize I was just around the corner.“But they took her! They have to pay for that!” His companion growled and I smiled.“They have been paying. For twenty years. So have we! I want peace. I want to sit on my porch and watch my grandchildren grow up one day.” The guard hit back and I rolled my eyes. Some of our pack were cl
AlisonIn the morning, the beautification process started. I honestly couldn’t understand why I had to be put through all of it just so people could stare at me, but my father insisted, and I didn’t want to disappoint him. I wanted him to be proud. I also wanted to rub it in the faces of all the people who ever belittled me or tried to make me feel less worthy.I was a lowly omega when I was chased away like a dog. I returned as the queen of the rogues. That in itself was huge. I also looked different, and I knew most of them would notice it instantly. I was stronger. More toned, and definitely more tanned. I looked good, and I knew it. Even in the ridiculous dress my father wanted me to wear.“Wow, you look amazing!” My father’s eyes lit up the moment he saw me and his happiness made it all worthwhile. I couldn’t shift in this monstrosity, which meant my father had to arrange for a car. I had never been in one, but the car that was waiting outside the house was definitely very old. I
Alison“Welcome,” The old king smiled. He slowly got up and walked down the three steps and I knew what he was doing! He was showing us that we were in his territory! If my father didn’t agree to this stupid truce, this would all have been mine!“Thank you, your highness. May I introduce my daughter, Alison? Queen … of the rogues.” My father hesitated to let it sink in, and the old king raised a brow.“This is news to me. Was she queen when you and I came to an agreement?” The bastard ignored me on purpose!“She can speak for herself.” I softly growled, drawing their attention. “Thanks to your greed, I didn’t grow up with my parents, and I wasn’t taught proper royal protocol, but …” I looked at my father who was about to say something. “The truce will stand for now. Since it is clear that neither of us want more blood spilled. I will honour my father’s agreement.” If I hadn't been so irritated with both of them, I might have smiled at the old king’s reaction. It was clear that I made
