Lucian’s gaze remained on me for a while, eyes raking shamelessly over each and every inch of my body, both clothed and devoid of covering. I hated it.

We’d been at this for what felt like more than two hours. The attendant had brought different racks of dresses and left me to make my pick. Lucian had insisted we try as much as possible. Somehow that had led up to this—me wearing the outfit and showing it to him.

It wasn’t like there was anyone else to validate the outfit. Reese was still back at the main house. Which left me to Lucian’s prying eyes.

It wasn’t like being under his gaze was particularly discomforting. Those cerulean blue eyes had a way of making you feel like you were the only thing that existed. There was something about the way his eyes would never waver for even a second as soon as I stepped before him.
