LUCIAN

Watching Violet desperately try to cling on to that mask of confidence was laughable. I knew she was tensed about where we were headed.

I’d opted for a route that she wasn’t particularly familiar with so it wasn’t any surprise that she’d be skeptical about where the hell we were actually headed.

“Lucian?” She finally turned to me.

I hummed out innocently. She swallowed. “I’ve never taken this route before.”

“I know.” The reply came out as smooth as butter.

“You still won’t tell me where we’re going?” She tried again.

I waited a couple of beats before finally answering her question. “See for yourself.”

She finally faced forward and the rest of her words died in her throat. A few meters away was a two-story building that seemed out of place being huddled up deep within all the forestry that surrounded it.

I drove a bit further before bringing the car to a stop. A small breath left my lips as I finally let go of the steering. How long had it been since I last came to this place?

VIOLETThings had been more or less clipped since that little spat with Lucian. It had been a little more than a week now and I barely ever saw him save for the few moments when he’d want to make a show of our relationship.Better to avert any suspicions about our relationship.I suppose it was better that way. There was this sneaking suspicion I had—that he was intentional with all his actions. No doubt he was. He was probably doing all he possible could to put that space between us, do whatever was necessary to make sure we never got feelings mixed in the way.It didn’t make it any easier with the mark actively working to push us together. Every once in a while, I’d find my mind infiltrated with thoughts about him. What was he doing? What kind of thoughts went through his head?Just how deep did his disdain for me really run? That along with some other thoughts frequently had my mind in a twist. It got especially worse at nights when I could feel his presence on the other side of th

The ride back from Theon’s was quiet. Not peaceful. Just quiet.Zayn said nothing, sunk into the back seat with that same look on his face—the one that reeked of unfinished business with Reese. Not my problem.Violet sat beside me, stiff and silent, like she had something to say but didn’t trust me enough to say it. Smart girl. She kept her eyes on the window the whole ride, her hands fidgeting in her lap. Not fear. Not guilt.Just unease.I didn’t like that.I didn’t like her silence. Or the way she moved slower than usual. She was either hiding something or falling apart. And either one made her a liability. When we finally pulled into the estate, I didn’t say a word. Just stepped out, shut the door, and let Zayn mutter something about checking patrol logs.I didn’t watch Violet as she walked away—but I noted the drag in her step. The subtle unsteadiness in her shoulders.Useful people don’t get the luxury of falling apart. The first thing I did as soon as I and Violet parted ways w

VIOLETSitting down in silence while waiting for a man who was in nothing but a skirt looking underwear hadn’t been on my to-do list when I got up today. But it wasn’t like I had much of a choice in this.Lucian had practically dragged me out here for some reason best known to him. I had no other choice but to honor that.I turned to him, noting the small glimmer in his eyes as he regarded the man. He looked…more alive than I’d seen him be in a while.Just who was this Theon to him?”“Haa!” Theon cackled before slowly getting up.Then his eyes landed on me. My breath hitched and my whole body went rigid. Before I could think, my hands had already made their way to the hip belt I had concealed under my dress.I didn’t know when exactly I became so paranoid but one thing I knew was the lengths I would walk to protect myself.Even if it ended in a few stab wounds.“I wouldn’t do that if I were you. There are no weapons allowed here.” He said, his voice solemn and somewhat hollow.Maybe i

VIOLET“Ready whenever you are.”I bit my lip, trying to hold back my frustration. “If you’d just give me a minute—”“I think I already gave you enough of those.” Lucian cut me off coldly. We were supposed to leave to meet up with one of his ‘partners’. I still had no idea why he was so insistent on taking me along with him. Something about me being his Luna becoming known around us.Not like I cared that much.I just found it really annoying that he was rushing me so much and putting me under a lot of pressure. It was aggravating.“Done?” He asked again.I let out a breath when I fixed the last strap of my gown. “Done.”I’d settled on a matcha green gown paired with some white sandals and a few jewelries to match. I gave myself one last look in the mirror before stepping out into the room.Lucian’s gaze was focused on his phone, forehead creased in what seemed like annoyance.“We can get going now.” I said to call his attention.“Finally.” His eyes raised up to meet mine. Then they f

  • Revenge on The Alpha Who Rejected Me   Chapter 51 What do You Think of Me?

LUCIANThat night, when it was just the two of us in bed, away from the prying eyes of every single member of the pack, I found myself wanting to say something. My body tingled with the need to see her eyes, gauge what words I would have to say to get a reaction out of her.Right then, I was at the desk, putting back some documents into the drawer. I’d seen her go in before, in search of something I wasn’t sure of.When I’d caught her then, she’d looked like deer caught in headlights. I could have dragged the matter, demanded what the hell she was doing going through my things. But for some reason, I hadn’t.Not out of some nuance of pity, but an odd reason I couldn’t quite put my finger on.Violet was seated on the edge of the bed, towel in hand as she dried her head. It wasn’t often I got to see her in just a robe.Sometimes she’d change in the toilet, or at the very least, make sure the door was locked and I was behind it.But lately—lately she’d become pretty bold.“Are you just g
