VIOLET

“Do you understand how many we’d need?”

“What?” I raised my head to look at Reese.

She frowned, eyes raking all over me suspiciously. “You’ve been zoning out more often these days. What exactly is going through your mind?”

“Have I?” I shook my head. “I don’t know. I’m sorry about that.”

She sighed, pushing the ledger off her thighs and leaning down onto me. “Wanna talk about it?”

I shook my head again, forcing a smile. “I’m okay. I think.”

For a second, it seemed like she was going to protest. Surprisingly, she simply sighed again. “Alright, alright. I hear you.”

I brightened my smile some more. We’d been going over how much female care products would be brought into the pack since morning and had just about finished rounding it up. That is, until I started zoning out.

There was a lot more on my mind than I could talk about. There was still the un

LUCIANMy days had become increasingly choked up, more than I was actually pleased with. But it was something I knew I had to do. So far so good, I still had those reports Zayn had given me about Violet’s scars.Something told me it ran deeper than that. I would have to do my best in finding out what it was by all means necessary. Why did I care so much? I wasn’t so sure. It was like an itch that needed scratching, something I just felt the need to handle.“So tomorrow then?” Zayn yawned.I nodded, waving him goodbye as I made my way up towards my room. Sure enough, Violet was already on the bed. Her gaze was focused on the ceiling. She didn’t even look my way, not budging as I slammed the door shut.I bit back the words that were itching to leave my throat. As soon as I was done freshening up, I made my way back to the bed and took my spot there. Still, she didn’t move. What was she thinking about? Was it the events of the day?“Violet.”Slowly, she turned towards me. I could barely

TRISTAN“If you’d just look through this, Alpha, you’d see that…”Why was everybody becoming increasingly annoying these days? The man in front of me went on babbling about the recent expenses that had been incurred from sending some men to the east to assist a neighboring pack.It hadn’t been done out of some nonexistent kindness. No. I didn’t have any to spare. It was simply a necessity. Helping out more packs meant having their allegiances. And that was what I wanted. Now, however, I was annoyed. Today had been all sorts of wrong from the start and now this man’s yapping was the icing on top.“The first prom—”“Are you done?” I cut him off.He stared dumbfoundedly. “S—Sir?”“Get out of my sight.” I said, the calm tone seeming off for the expression on my face. The man was at a loss for what to say next. “Al—”“I said get lost!” I growled, fangs already out in case he needed me to repeat myself. That was enough to send him scampering out of the door. He just managed to avoid bumping

VIOLETWhen Lucian had said he had somewhere he wanted to show me, I didn’t think it would be this. A large lake stretched wide before us. The movement of the water was soft, occasionally clashing with the banks before eventually receding again.“Come on,” Lucian’s voice broke me out of my daze.I nodded, taking off my seatbelt before getting out of the car. Now outside, it was easier to get a better view of the whole place. There was something surreal about the whole place. One would think it was something straight out of a movie. It was all so surreal.“What do you think?”I turned to Lucian. Had he been watching me the whole time? His eyes were mostly always an unreadable mask so it wasn’t easy trying to read his mind.My gaze flickered back to the lake. “It’s beautiful.”Before I realized it, my feet were wandering, eyes soaking in the whole place as much as I can. “Has it always been here?”Different trees and flush forestry lined the adjacent area making the place somewhat seclu

VIOLET“Eh?”Lucian blinked. “Got something in your ears?”“I heard you the first time.” I grumbled. “What do you want to show me?”He gave me a blank stare for a couple of seconds before rolling his eyes. “Would you pipe down first?”I folded my arms, staring me down in hopes of whatever he had in mind eventually spilling. Sadly, Lucian had always been a tough nut to crack.“Is this you rejecting my proposal?” he finally said after a moment of silence.I pondered on the thought for a second before letting out a sigh. “Don’t say it like that. Makes it sound like an actual proposal.”I half-expected some sort of sarcastic or grumpy reply. But so far, nothing. He simply stared, eyes scouring through my face like he was searching for something. Then they dropped to my abdomen, and my stomach churned instantly. Was this about the scars? I knew he wasn’t over them just yet. I opened my mouth, about to come up with an excuse as to why I didn’t think going out would be a good idea.“Come wit

VIOLETThe body always remembers. It never forgets, regardless of how much time seemingly passes, or how long it had been since the incident occurred. It always remembers.“Is this okay, Luna?”I turned my attention to the little girl standing in front of me. Dokcha. She was one of the pups in the pack, just reaching three years old. In her hands was a crayon drawing of a sun with a bunch of stick people raising their hands up to the sky.“Oh, it’s lovely.” I cooed. “Mind drawing me another one?”She nodded vigorously. “Yes!”All too happily, she went back to her workbench, excitedly fishing out a red crayon. I let out a breath, eyes preening over the other pups in the playroom.Viola and Jax had settled with keeping themselves busy with some Lego. Suzuru was more of the quiet one, seemingly satisfied with the toy horse in her hands. I’d taken it upon myself to come to the estate. It was getting a bit uncomfortable at the main house. Not because anybody was making me feel that way. I
