“Don’t worry, someone will send me back home!”

The driver was worried about Jian Jianan, but seeing she had already made up her mind, he nodded and left.

Jian Jianan glanced at the magnificent ‘Eight-One’ signboard. She took out a coral-colored lipstick from her handbag and applied it to her perfect lips. She gave a slight smile to a mirror, regarding her reflection with satisfaction.

She had always been confident in her appearance. Today, she had to conquer Gu Mocheng!

When she arrived at the military camp, Jian Jianan was stopped by a security guard. “Ma’am, this area is prohibited. Please leave immediately!”

Jian Jianan had put on some makeup and wore a dark-red dress, all efforts she had taken for her meeting with Gu Mocheng! A breeze blew through her hair and her dress billowed in the wind, making her look magnificent.

She looked at the guard with a glamorous smile. “Hi, I am here to meet my fiancé, could you tell him to come out, just for a little while?”

The guard blushed. He had never seen such a gorgeous woman in his entire life. She threw him off guard.

“Right… who’s your fiancé?”

“Gu Mocheng!”

“What, Colonel Gu?”

“He’s the colonel already?”

‘Jian Jianan, look what you missed out on! You overlooked an absolutely outstanding person!’

“Alright, please wait a moment. I’ll call and ask…”

The guard glanced at Jian Jianan with a little bit of doubt. He had never heard of Colonel Gu having a fiancé.

Soon after, the guard walked towards Jian Jianan. “Hi, Colonel Gu is unable to meet you. He is preoccupied with his inspection of the new recruits.”

He was sugarcoating it for her. “What fiancé? I have no idea who she is! Tell her to leave!” was what Gu Mocheng truly said on the phone.

Jian Jianan knew he was lying to her, noticing the discomfort on his face. Her smile was radiant. “It’s okay. I’ll go in and meet him if he’s not free to do so. I can’t leave without seeing him after such a long journey, am I right? I missed him so much, I could barely sleep for the past few days…”

“But…”

“No worries, I won’t trouble you!”

Jian Jianan reached for her phone and placed a call. Shortly after, the guard received a phone call shortly and cordially invited Jian Jianan in.

It was Jian Jianan’s first time in the military camp. The soldiers were on the field, training. She could feel the radiating energy and fiery spirit in them.

They chanted ‘Protect our Nation, Serve the People’ as they sweat like it was raining.

Jian Jianan’s heart skipped a beat. Seeing them brought out a patriotic spirit within her. She could feel the passion burning in her heart. How did she ever think that soldiers were bad? What a moron she had been!

How could they enjoy a life of peace had it not been for these soldiers?

Jian Jianan took a deep breath, feeling blessed that she was still alive!

She marched a few steps and from afar, she saw Gu Mocheng. Even with just a glimpse at his portrait, she could recognize him instantly.

He stood out in the platoon in his fitted camouflage uniform and military boots. She could not hear what he was saying to the soldiers but, from where she was standing, he looked brilliant, firm and masculine.

He had a striking profile. He had a chiseled jawline and a particularly captivating pair of pitch-black eyes. Although he had a darker skin tone, it looked healthy and made him look even more manly than Xiao Yihan.

Her first impression of him was that he was handsome, but this second one was even better!

Having only seen the photograph, Jian Jianan did not expect Gu Mocheng to command her attention so much in reality. His features were definitely the type that both men and women would fall in love with.

It was rare to see women in military camps - much less an elegant woman dressed up so glamorously.

She could hear guys catcalling her wherever she went.

She did not bother with it. She hiked up her skirt and ran towards Gu Mocheng. The man sensed something interrupting the training. Before he could turn to see, Jian Jianan rushed straight into his arms. “I finally get to see you, darling!”

Without thinking, Gu Mocheng wrapped his arms around Jian Jianan. Her unique scent permeated the air, and the tender warmth he felt in his hands was startling.

There was the blowing of whistles, followed by a rising roar. In quick reaction, Gu Mocheng pushed Jian Jianan away.
