LOGINKimberly couldn’t tear her eyes away from the black suited, jaw-dropping man walking toward them.
He moved with a lazy, terrifying grace, completely indifferent to the chaos around him. ‘Don’t tell me… that’s Theo’s mysterious uncle?’ Kimberly gasped internally, utterly dazzled. ‘The book was not exaggerating. He is sinfully, criminally gorgeous.’ Without realizing it, a shameless grin crept onto her face. “What on earth is going on here?!” a booming voice shattered her trance. Jeffrey Kruger, her father-in-law, marched into the courtyard, looking like a storm cloud. Clinging frantically to his arm was a weeping Lucy, who immediately whimpered, “Dad! Look at what she did! She attacked us!” Right beside Jeffrey stood Theo Kruger, the unfaithful, spineless husband, and Vivian instantly slithered over to stand beside him like a tragic victim. Jeffrey’s gaze locked onto Kimberly, practically vibrating with rage. “Kimberly Holland! Why did you lay a finger on them? Explain yourself!” Kimberly completely ignored him. In fact, Jeffrey and Theo were currently blocking her view of the handsome masterpiece standing behind them. Annoyed, she scoffed loudly and stepped forward. “Get out of my light,” she snapped, shoving past her father-in-law and husband as if they were nothing more than inconvenient furniture. But as she reached toward her prize, her wet flip-flop slicked against the wet marble. ‘Whoa…’ Her ankle gave out, and she pitched forward. Before she could smash face-first onto the pavement, a heavy, rock-solid arm caught her mid-air. Kimberly gasped, clinging instinctively to his broad shoulders for balance. Their eyes met and time practically ground to a halt. The evening breeze blew, the dramatic tension soared, and Kimberly’s inner monologue immediately broke out into applause. ‘Oh, wow. A classic, clichéd rom-com fall. I’m actually living the novel trope right now.’ Instead of showing embarrassment, Kimberly looked straight into his intense, darkened eyes and let out a breathtaking, dazzling smile. Around them, the crowd’s jaws dropped. Kim stared at the man with a dreamy, enamored gaze. ‘He’s insanely handsome… completely my type.’ “Hi,” she purred, her heart doing a shameless little flip in her chest. “Are you Uncle Finnick Kruger?” She offered him her best, picture-perfect innocent smile. Finn Kruger stared at the soaked, smiling girl clinging to his chest. His expression remained completely deadpan, completely unbothered. “Let go,” he said, his voice a deep, icy baritone. Without waiting for her to comply, he casually lifted her off his arm by her shoulder like an unruly kitten and set her aside, causing her to wobble awkwardly on one foot. He didn’t even give her a second glance, exuding an air of unreachable, terrifying charisma. Kimberly pouted instantly, crossing her arms. ‘Tough crowd. Looks like I made a terrible first impression.’ “Hmph!” Jeffrey Kruger scoffed, breaking the silence as he gestured toward her. “Finnick, meet your niece-in-law, Kimberly Holland.” Finnick threw a fleeting, indecipherable glance in Kimberly’s direction, but said nothing. “You just returned from abroad, so you haven’t had the misfortune of meeting her yet,” Jeffrey continued, his tone dripping with disdain before rounding on Kimberly. “This was supposed to be a welcome banquet for your uncle, and you turn it into a circus! What a total disgrace! Everyone, inside. Now!” Jeff scoffed as he stormed inside. Kimberly simply rolled her eyes, following the crowd with an amused strut. Moments later, a high-tension family tribunal assembled inside the grand living room of the Kruger Villa. Finnick sat draped across a single leather armchair, staring off into space with supreme indifference, looking like a king forced to sit through a kindergarten play. On the main sofa to his left, Jeffrey sat beside a scowling Theo. Standing in the center of the room, drying off, were Kimberly, Lucy, and Vivian. Lucy took center stage immediately, pointing a dramatic finger at Kimberly. “Dad! She was throwing a violent tantrum because Theo dotes on Vivian! She didn’t just throw me into the pool, she deliberately beat up a pregnant Vivian!” Theo’s eyes flared with sudden fury. He slammed his palm onto the marble coffee table with a thunderous CRACK, springing to his feet. “What?!” He darted to Vivian’s side, taking her hands with exaggerated tenderness. “Vivian, are you alright?! Did this crazy woman hurt you?” Kimberly practically gagged at the theatrical display, letting out a loud, mocking scoff. Vivian pouted, sniffling softly as she shook her head like a fragile flower in the wind. Reinforced by her tears, Theo spun toward Kimberly, his face contorted in rage as he pointed a trembling finger at her nose. “You wench! Who gave you the nerve to touch her?! If anything, anything, happens to Vivian’s baby, I swear to God I’ll kill you with my bare hands!”Standing motionless, Finnick watched the horrific spectacle happening in the courtyard of his mansion. As his eyes stayed locked on the trembling, kneeling figure of the girl, her desperate words just minutes ago echoed with sudden clarity in his mind.“Finn... my entire survival in the Kruger household depends on you!” she had begged. “Finn... saving a life earns you heavenly merit! I swear, if you agree to marry me, I will serve you exceptionally well!”Those words, which he had initially dismissed as the wild antics of a shameless woman, now tore through his thoughts, cracking the fortress around his heart just a fraction of an inch.Finnick had never been one to pity the miseries of others. He had crawled his way out of his own hell, bleeding and callous, surviving in a world that showed no mercy. Why should he care about someone else’s misfortune? In his world, emotions were fatal mistakes, and caring for another human being was an unacceptable weakness. The only things that m
The veins along Marco Holland’s neck bulged like thick, blue ropes, his face flushed a deep, terrifying purple. “Shut up! Shut your mouth!” he roared, his voice cracking under the strain of his fury. He pointed a trembling, manic finger at Kimberly. “Hold her down! Hold this disgraceful girl down this instant!”Charles Holland immediately lunged forward, locking his arms around Kimberly from behind.“Hey, hey!” Kimberly yelled in panic, her pulse spiking as Charles pinned her arms behind her. “Let me go! Get off of…”SMACK!The force of Marco’s palm striking her face was so violent it cut off her words in an instant. Kimberly gasped, her vision flashing white as a sharp, blinding heat bloomed across her cheek. She didn’t even have a second to recover before his hand came swinging back from the opposite direction.SMACK!SMACK!SMACK!The sickening sound of flesh hitting flesh echoed repeatedly through the air. Marco struck her again and again, pouring every ounce of his humiliation
Finnick let out a low, weary sigh as he watched the confrontation unfold.Jonas glanced at his boss carefully. “Should we step in, sir?”Finnick’s expression remained entirely unreadable. “The Holland family is disciplining their own daughter. It’s not my place to interfere.”Jonas bowed his head silently, turning his eyes back to the courtyard.Outside, Kimberly was practically vibrating with fury. She jammed both hands firmly onto her waist, her eyes blazing with absolute rage. “So this is your little game, huh?! Just because I used to keep my mouth shut, you actually took me for a damn punching bag?! Twisting the truth, blind to right and wrong... hahahaha! You all think you’re so remarkably clever, don’t you? Aren’t you making your disgusting bias a little too obvious?! Why don’t you grab a megaphone and broadcast your stupidity to the whole world?!”The Hollands stared at her in stunned, speech-deprived shock.Kimberly’s brows slammed together in a vicious scowl. “And what do yo
Kimberly scoffed, eyeing all of them with an icy sneer. “My, my, you two look awfully proud of yourselves, don’t you? I’ve truly never seen anyone command such baseless delusions, you despicable pair of absolute parasites.”Vivian and Theo’s smug expressions instantly shattered into aggravated rage.Kimberly folded her arms tightly over her chest, tossing her head back with a look of supreme indifference. “Honestly? I’d sooner seduce a slimy toad than waste my precious energy trying to seduce him.”“You!” Theo roared, his index finger trembling violently as he pointed it straight at her face.Kimberly simply rolled her eyes, her expression utterly unfazed by his outburst.“Sister,” Vivian said smoothly, wrapping her arms around Theo’s like a clingy vine and resting her chin on his shoulder. “There’s no need to pretend the grapes are sour just because you can’t reach them. This pathetic little game of playing hard to get is just... so deeply embarrassing for you.”“Nobody’s more embarr
Kimberly walked across the room with cute steps, sliding into the chair at the opposite end of the table. She rested her chin in her hands, fixing Finnick with a shameless, dreamy gaze.Thick clouds of cigarette smoke hung heavy in the air, but she didn’t mind it in the slightest. She just sat there, admiring the view.Finnick slowly leaned back against his leather armchair, letting out a heavy sigh as he met her gaze. “What are you doing back in my private quarters?”Kimberly shrugged, her lips forming a petulant pout. “Nobody stopped me.”“Then I’ll make sure to ban you...”Kimberly’s hand shot out instantly in a panic. “Wait!!”Frowning at him, she picked up a fork and a plate, casually plucking choice morsels from the untouched gourmet spread. “You really need to cool down sometimes, Finn.”Finnick’s right eyebrow arched up. “What did you just call me?”At the side of the table, Jonas felt his heart skip a beat, a cold sweat breaking out on his neck.Kimberly looked up at Finnick
Vivian blinked, frozen in sheer disbelief. As Theo slowly managed to uncurl himself, wheezing and clutching his aching lower half, she quickly arranged her face into a tender, heartbreaking concern.“Theo, are you okay?” she whimpered softly.Theo’s face twisted in agony and rage. “Is Kimberly Holland out of her goddamn mind?!” he spat, breathing heavily as he struggled to stand. “She used to be so submissive, so eager to please me! Why is she acting like a rabid dog today?!”Vivian gripped his shoulder to pull him all the way up, stabilizing his trembling frame. “I warned you, didn’t I?” she whispered, leaning into him. “My sister has been putting on an act this entire time. She looks so fragile and harmless on the surface, but underneath, she’s always plotting something nasty. I guess she just can’t keep her fake little mask on anymore.”Theo glared at the closed bedroom door, his chest heaving with murderous intent. “Just you wait, you vicious bitch,” he growled under his breat
