Chapter 2

Author: Hunk Alert
Wyatt's mother, Laura Baker, was the first to snap out of it. She no longer cared about keeping up appearances. She rushed down from the front row, her voice tinged with panic.

"What is going on? Who are you?"

Wyatt's father, Maverick Sterling, turned pale in an instant. He spun toward the audience, but it was already too late. The guests were whispering, the noises spreading like wildfire.

"Silence!" he barked. "It's just a minor issue with the wedding. Manager!"

How ironic.

In my previous life, I was the one standing there, humiliated, falling apart in front of everyone.

Now, it was the mighty Sterling family losing control in public.

My mother had already stood up, worry written all over her face. "Anna… what is happening?"

I turned toward my parents and gave them a steady, reassuring look.

Then, as everyone looked on in disbelief, I took Joseph's hand. My voice was calm and clear.

"Thank you all for attending the wedding of Anna and Joseph today.

"There was a small mistake on the invitation.

"However, it’s nothing serious. The wedding will continue."

Beside me, Joseph straightened up slightly, as if silently claiming his place in front of everyone.

Laura trembled with rage.

"Anna, have you lost your mind? Do you even know what you're doing? This is our wedding venue!"

Maverick stepped forward, lowering his voice, his tone tight.

"Stop this nonsense. Get this man out of here. We'll pause the ceremony and wait for Wyatt to return."

I ignored them.

Instead, I turned to the man beside me.

"My husband," I said calmly, "tell everyone why you're standing here."

Joseph met my eyes, then gave a faint smile. His voice was steady and composed.

"I'm standing here today because Wyatt paid me to take his place at the wedding.

"He asked me to complete the ceremony for him."

The entire hall exploded.

"What? He paid someone to marry in his place?"

"You've got to be kidding me!"

"Does he think this is some kind of joke?"

With the truth exposed in front of everyone, Maverick and Laura lost all color in their faces.

My father's anger finally broke through. "So this is how the Sterling family does things?" he roared, pointing at them. "You treat my daughter's marriage like a game? Do you really think the Larson family is easy to bully?"

My mother's eyes were red as she pulled me protectively behind her.

"This wedding is off," she said calmly. "From this moment on, the Larson family has nothing to do with the Sterling family. The engagement is canceled."

Seeing the alliance about to fall apart, Laura panicked.

She knew better than anyone that their family was just an empty shell. Without the Larson family's support, they could not even keep up appearances.

"Anna, don't do this… Wyatt is just being foolish. I'll send people to bring him back right now. He'll apologize to you. Don't act on impulse."

I smiled lightly, but there was no warmth on my face.

"Fine. I'll give him one last chance.

"As long as he shows up in front of me right now, I'll pretend none of this ever happened."

Joseph's grip on my hand tightened slightly.

I leaned closer to him and whispered, "Relax. He's too busy having fun with someone else. He won't come back."

Laura frantically started giving orders, sending people out to find Wyatt.

One group after another rushed out.

One group after another came back empty-handed.

"Mrs. Sterling… we can't find him."

"No one knows where he is…"

I let out a soft sigh, pretending to be disappointed.

"It looks like… he doesn't plan on coming back. And he doesn't plan on marrying me either."

The very next second, my expression turned icy. "Security," I said sharply, "remove anyone who doesn't belong here.

"This is my wedding. Since the groom is absent, this venue now belongs to the Larson family."

The Larson family's security team had already been waiting outside. At my command, they rushed in immediately.

The Sterling couple were dragged out in disgrace, while the surrounding guests pointed and whispered. Some could not even hold back their laughter.

My mother took my hand. At first, she said nothing. Then her voice softened, but remained firm.

"Anna, no matter what you decide, we will support you. Our family has power and wealth. We don't need to suffer this kind of humiliation."

My father gently patted my shoulder. Warmth spread through my chest.

In my previous life, I insisted on marrying Wyatt.

I argued with my parents, and even went on a hunger strike to force them to agree.

After I died, they aged overnight.

They gave up everything just to seek justice for me.

This time…

I will not make the same mistake again, I told myself.

The one responsible for all of this, Wyatt…

I will never let him go.

Once the chaos settled, I immediately called in the lawyers and the head of finance.

"Spread the word.

"Terminate all business dealings with the Sterling family immediately.

"Withdraw every investment. Principal and interest. Leave nothing behind.

"And every single cent they owe us…"

I paused, my voice turning ice cold.

"Collect it all."

Half a year later, he saw me again on the street.Joseph and I had just walked out of a shop. He was carrying several bags filled with baby clothes, carefully shielding me from the crowd like I might break if someone brushed past me.My belly was already showing, and my face held an easy, genuine smile. That sight hit Wyatt like a blade straight through the heart. He rushed toward us and blocked our path. His clothes were ragged, his eyes bloodshot, and his whole body was trembling like he had lost his mind."Anna…"His gaze locked onto my stomach, his voice shaking. "You… you're pregnant?"Instinctively, I covered my belly.Joseph immediately stepped in front of me, his expression icy."Where did this lunatic beggar come from? Get lost.""Why…" Wyatt ignored him completely. He stared at me, his eyes full of resentment and unwillingness."Why do you get to be this happy? You destroyed everything I had. You destroyed the Sterling family. What gives you the right to live like

One month later, on a stormy night, Wyatt showed up drunk outside the Larson estate, pounding on the gates like a madman."Anna! Open the door! Get out here!"You vicious woman! How can you be so heartless?! Have you forgotten everything we had all these years?"My father is dying! My family is falling apart! Do you really want to see me destroyed?"I stood by the attic window on the second floor, looking down at him as he made a scene in the rain.Joseph walked over and gently wrapped his arms around me from behind, pressing my head against his chest, as if shielding me from the sight below."Don't look," he said softly. "It'll just dirty your eyes. I can have the guards take care of him."I shook my head. "There’s no need."I pushed the window open and looked down at the man who once stood so high above everyone but was now reduced to this pathetic state."Wyatt, so now you know you were wrong?"Hearing my voice, he jerked his head up. Rain and mud streaked across his face.

The applause came in scattered bursts. Most people were not clapping out of joy. They were just enjoying the spectacle.I stood below the stage, calmly watching the chaos unfold.Joseph tightened his grip on my hand and asked quietly, "Do you want me to take you away?"I shook my head. A faint, amused smile forming on my lips. "No. The real show is just getting started. Why would I leave now?"I stepped forward slowly. In an instant, every eye in the room turned to me.Wyatt looked at me nervously, as if afraid I might say something even more shocking.I gave the guests a polite smile."First off, congratulations to Mr. Sterling and Ms. Jones on their marriage. I wish you both a happy wedding."I paused, then took out the official marriage certificate from my bag and held it high for everyone to see."Second, I would like to clarify something. Half a month ago, I already registered my marriage with my husband, Joseph."I am here today only as a guest to offer my congratulati

Wyatt was completely stunned. As he watched Becky walk toward him, all color drained from his face."Becky? Why are you dressed like this? What are you doing here?" he asked in a low, panicked voice.Becky stopped in front of him and slipped her arm through his, leaning close with a sweet smile."Wyatt, today is our wedding."She rose on her toes and whispered in his ear, "Did you forget our plan? As long as we get married today, I can help you properly."My uncle is one of the biggest financial powers in the capital. If he steps in, won't the Sterling family's crisis be solved? Why are you still begging that woman?"Wyatt's whole body stiffened.Only then did he remember. A few days ago, Becky had mentioned her wealthy distant uncle. She had said that if he gave her a proper title and married her, she could convince her uncle to invest and save the Sterling family. At the time, he had been focused on winning me back and had not taken her words seriously. Now, it seemed like

Wyatt made this wedding even grander than the last.Almost every major figure in the capital's high society received an invitation. He even spent a fortune to bring in several distinguished guests from the Upper Chamber and royal circles just to elevate the occasion. The entire city buzzed with news of the event. Newspapers and social gatherings were filled with the same headline:The Sterling heir remained devoted. To make up for past regrets, he hosted a grand wedding once again for the Larson family's daughter. My parents were so furious they nearly marched straight to the Sterling estate to confront them, but I stopped them."Father, Mother, don't be angry. Just watch the show."After today, the Sterling family will become the laughingstock of the entire capital."I reassured them. After all, I already had a complete plan in mind.On the day of the wedding, I chose a well-tailored outfit. It was formal, but there was a sharp edge to it, something almost cold beneath the ele

The moment Wyatt got a clear look at who it was, his expression changed instantly. His eyes filled with contempt."Anna, do you really think I'm an idiot?" He pointed at Joseph and burst out laughing. "Isn't this the broke nobody I hired off the street on our wedding day?"What? Wasn't that performance enough? Now you've dragged him here to keep playing house with you?"Becky covered her mouth, pretending to be shocked, though her eyes were full of scorn."Anna, how could you do something like this? Wyatt is already overwhelmed dealing with family matters. Not only are you not helping, you even brought someone like this to act things out and provoke him. That's just… improper. Completely unbefitting of a lady."She turned to Wyatt, gently patting his chest as if soothing him. "Wyatt, don't be mad. Anna just loves you too much. That's why she's using such childish ways to get your attention."Hearing Becky's words, Wyatt's expression softened. That familiar look of superiority cre
