Chapter 10: Living the Lie

After Madoc left, Bonnie ordered the Howlers out. Cyrus met my eyes as he walked to the door. A few moments later, my phone buzzed with a text from him. It said, "Raincheck tonight. Sry. Club biz. xx."

I was a little disappointed, but I wasn't surprised. Plus, I had some thinking to do about Bonnie's offer.

"Everyone get outta here for the night," Bonnie said to the rest of the Blood Dogs, looking drained. "Go home to your families."

Brat and I stayed after to clean up. As I took care of things behind the bar, Bonnie and Red sat talking in low voices. I considered all of the pros and cons of what Brat had told me. The strength, the longevity, not to mention being part of a pack that would always have my back sounded like a no-brainer. The only downside was the risk of being turned. And a fifty-fifty shot of making it wasn't the greatest odds.
