Carolyn's POV
(18 Years)
I gazed at myself in the mirror and felt that constant twitching in my chest. I've grown fatter than last year. It's so pitiful that I cannot even pass through the door properly. Dad had to call a carpenter and cut a bigger space and install a bigger door.
I covered the mirror and came back to my bed, which is made of steel. I broke my old wooden bed six weeks ago when the Summer break started. And today is my birthday. White hot pain cut through me as tears stung my eyes again.
Today I turned Eighteen but our parents only remembered Adelyn's birthday. The house downstairs is being decorated. Dad is excited because today we meet our wolves.
I pulled a pillow in my lap and looked around. This room suffocates me. I hyperventilate almost everyday because I haven't stepped out of the house since that day Adelyn banged my head against the mirror in the school's restroom.
My sister considers me a threat even though I stand no chance.
I don't know who and how they dragged my big fat body out of the restroom and carried me to the school's medical room. But that's where I opened my eyes. My father had come to meet me. He was summoned by the Principal.
Well, you must have guessed his reaction— He blamed me.
He blamed me for being fat. For being ugly. For being useless. And for annoying others by being all of that.
He neither asked me how I ended up injured nor did he hug me like he does to my twin whenever she gets hurt.... So that day I completely broke.
I've been wondering about something else too— death.
How does it feel to die? I heard it brings peace. Otherwise why would people wish those who die to rest in peace? It's worth a thought, isn't it?
I've brought blades and sleeping pills. I stole them from school actually. They've been sitting in my drawer for months. And every day I spend in my room throughout this summer vacation, I feel more and more inclined to take my life.

I dared to go down in the evening. The house looked ethereal. Every corner was shimmering with lights and candles. Rose Gold ribbons and balloons embellished the pillars and remained scattered on the floor.
Rose Gold is Adelyn's favorite. The decoration screamed that the celebration was exclusively going to be for her.
Mom was in the kitchen, talking on her phone to the bakery owner who's gotten the order for Adelyn's birthday cake.
I tried to take a peek from where I was standing on the staircase. Mom was dressed in a black modest-looking one piece with off-shoulder design. She looked tall in her five inch stilettos while her beautiful blonde hair was twisted into a French bun.
A small bitter smile ghosted over my lips as I imagined Adelyn in the back of my mind.
She's taken after our mom. Same blonde hair, green eyes and pretty flawless skin. Our dad has blonde hair too. Adelyn looks like their daughter from every angle you could possibly look her at. Even if you look at her from miles and miles away, she'd still look like them.
On the other hand, I am short— Take note, neither of my parents are short— I have pimples all over my face, double chin, I have no neck while my family has beautiful long necks, my hair is curly frizzy dirty brown, and my skin is a several noticeable tones down than theirs as if I don't belong to them. My eyes are brown like dad's— The only thing that keeps me from thinking that I'm not theirs. I am theirs. I have to be. Because you don't show this hatred to anyone else unless they're your person.
I'm not their person in that sense. I'm just an ugly daughter who brings embarrassment to them, and that's why they hate me. Because I ruin the 'good family' visuals we're supposed to have.
I am the black ship in the family. Oh, correction— I'm the fat black sheep in the family. A fat sheep who can't pass through the door of her room and her parents have to cut it and make it bigger.
"Carolyn, why are you still in your pajamas?" I blinked out of my trance as my mother, Luna Taylor's voice sounded.
I wanted to make a smart àss reply and opened my mouth. But I knew better and shut it again. My feelings don't matter just like my presence. That's why I did what I always do— I ran back to my room without telling her anything about my feelings.
I was about to close the door when mom stuck a hand in, making me stop. She pushed the door open and peeked at me with that 'I'm your Luna' kind of stern look.
"Carolyn, I asked you why you are still in your pajamas?"
"I've been in my pajamas almost every day of the summer holiday. Are you only seeing it now?"
"Watch your tone, Carolyn Moore! I'm your Luna first, then your mother." Her tight tone made me hold back my breaths.
Mom is less hateful towards me because most of the time she ignores me. So I wonder what she's doing here in my room today!
"Move back so I can come in." She said and I felt my cheeks heat up.
Yeah, right. I'm so fat that I block the door.
"Carolyn," She began again and I quickly spun around. "I asked you something. Why are you still in your pajamas and not in your birthday dress?"
My heart skipped a beat as I faced her again. I was staring at her with my mouth open.
"M-my birthday dress? So you remember it's also my birthday today?"
"Of course! You and Adelyn are twins. So of course we're organizing a party for you both." Mom said it so casually as if she had no idea what's been going around.
"Oh really? Then why wasn't I taken to shopping like my twin sister? Why am I being told now that it's my birthday too? She got presents from you and dad and everyone else. Why not me? Forget it all, tell me, why has no one come to wish me either?" I was sobbing now as my hands shook.
Mom was quiet for a while and I thought for a fleeting second— for a stupid fleeting second— that maybe she was finally realizing her and dad's mistake. That their ignorance towards me and undivided attention towards my twin sister is bothering. It's increasing my depression every day.
However, when she opened her mouth to speak, what she said made me almost run to the drawer where I kept the blades and pills.

64Oliver's POV "Love, you're being too—" "Shut up, Jean, you've given him unnecessary freedom. Look what he's done! He shared Rafael's story with a girl who's unleashed chaos in her old pack. How can he not know about friends and enemies? He's not an eight year old!" "He's just kind, Hannah. He didn't know Carolyn Cooper's back story. He—" "Stop defending him. Her being another Alpha's daughter was enough knowledge for him to know where to open his mouth or not. He didn't just tell a girl a secret. He handed information about our pack to someone who could use it against us.""He didn't know it'd come down to this, Hannah. Stop making him feel like it's his mistake. He didn't mean it." Dad wiped a hand over his forehead. Mom seethed, "It's not just one mistake, Jean. His mistake has turned into a disaster. An innocent soul suffered days long of oppression. You heard what they did to him, right, Jean? Rafael could've died because of his one mistake."I gulped as I looked at her, "
63Oliver's POV With my mind occupied, we silently journeyed back to the pack. Mom and dad left to meet the Alpha while I came home, making an excuse that I needed to freshen up. They didn't mind because they were bound by pack duties as the lead doctors of the pack, not me. Nevertheless, the second I stepped inside our house and into my room, I retrieved my phone from the desk of the bedside table and switched it on. As expected, my phone hung for a few minutes after I connected Wifi because of all the messages I received. There were so many. I right away went to the college's group chats and read all the unread messages. My stomach knotted when I read some of the things. The chats were full of disgusting rumors. More than what Rafael had endured... It was being discussed around like some startling scene from a movie. My nerves contracted after reading a certain message— It was about Rafael râping some girl. "People are so twisted. How can they spread this without knowing him! T
62Oliver's POV My heart cluncked against my ribs and constricted. I wiped a hand on my face as I dashed out of the college building. The back of my eyes was burning with the heat of tears wanting to let loose. But I somehow reigned in my emotions and came to where my car was parked. I placed my hands on the hood and hung my head. My breaths were coming out in heavy pants. I... I don't like the things I said. They were brutal. I didn't really mean them. And the look Carolyn sported when I was spewing all that? It was like a javelin stabbing right through my soul. 'You're a better person, Oli. It's okay. We all lose our shit. You didn't mean it.' My wolf whispered to me. But it didn't stop the feeling I was feeling. I shouldn't have said that. I'm indeed a better person. Carolyn is a better person too. She's just a little dumb. 'Little dumb? She's vulgar. I never wanted you to become friends with her, remember. You saw why.' My wolf sniggered. 'Now be cool and stop feeling like yo
61 Carolyn's POVThe second the words left my mouth, Rafael staggered. His hold on my arm loosened and he moved backwards, assessing me from head to toe."I... I d-didn't intend to do it. I-it—" "You did it! You!!!" My heart took off in a sprint, rattling around in my rib-cage like a wild animal as Rafael scoffed that. His voice was full of malice and disgust. The way he said 'you' it was as though he was referring to a pig that just took a dip in a pool of shít. I lowered my eyes to the floor and nodded quietly. "I can't believe it. It's you!" He spat again. My eyes were burning and my skin was scorching under the heat of his impending madness. Since it was utterly silent, I dared to raise my head and my heart yelped in dread. Rafael was looking at me with that tilted head scary look you see psychopaths giving before committing a murder. I know I shouldn't say anything. The guy was wounded, wronged and became everyone's favorite topic for gossip. But my heart, my guilty throbbi
60Rafael's POV I recalled being taken away. The Luna's slap and crazy screaming. Accusing me of defaming her. The Alpha's futile attempts to let me get away. But she didn't listen to anyone. She demanded severe punishment for me, and since I was the Alpha's bastard, she demanded a special body of Elders to do it since she was doubtful Alpha Anthony might be partial. They punished me with four days of detention in the dungeons. I knew that wasn't all because that very evening, the Luna's guard brought two leering soldiers to my cell. I dipped my head to take in the fainting bruises on my skin. They did all this painting on my body. I don't even remember the number of tools they used on me. From a baseball bat to a crowbar, iron rod to barbed metal clubs... They used all the tools on me. The first two days were brutal. I didn't cry in their presence while they were unleashing hell on me, but deep inside I was drying every second. My body pleaded for death until it became so numb th
Chapter 59Carolyn's POV I gulped a knot of anxiety down my throat as Pansy basked in the sight of my appearance. “Heard Rafael has been thrown in the dungeons after two long days of heavy torture." She said with a wince. "I also heard the Luna never gets rid of her grudge easily. So the poor guy is in for a brutal ride down to hell.""And whose fault is that?" Naomi didn't look up from her nails. "A certain heavy weighted blob, who doesn't even know how to differentiate between a friend and a foe." Pansy tutted. "If I were you," Naomi crossed one leg over the other as her eyes came to me. "I would've already packed my stuff and disappeared." "Indeed. You think after the hell Rafael's living through, he won't come to catch whoever raised this hell for him?" My stomach dropped in dread. I didn't reply though. I just got back on my feet and exited the cafeteria. On my way out, I heard people talk about the ràpe rumors. "That's probably a rumor.""But what if it's true? You know,
