**Stella's POV**

"Mama!"

The word shatters me.

My baby's voice—the sound I've been desperate to hear for what feels like an eternity.

"Noah!" His name tears out of me like a prayer.

I try to move forward, but my legs won't cooperate. Shawn's arm tightens around my waist, the only thing keeping me upright.

Noah starts squirming in Cole's arms, reaching for me with his chubby hands. "Mama! Mama!"

"Give him to me." My voice shakes. "Cole, give him to me."

Cole's expression is carefully neutral, but I see the calculation in his eyes. "Of course. That's why we're here, after all."

He steps forward, and suddenly Noah is in my arms.

The weight of him—nearly buckles my knees. I bury my face in his hair, breathing in his sweet baby scent, and everything else falls away.

"I'm here, baby," I whisper against his head. "Mama's here. I'm so sorry. I'm so, so sorry—"

"Mama!" Noah's little hands pat my face, and when I pull back to look at him, his eyes are wet with tears. "

**Shawn's POV** "He wanted me to be prepared," I correct. "To know how to protect myself if anything ever happened to him." The irony of that statement burns. "So he took you on a job," Stella says softly. I nod, and suddenly I'm not sitting on a park bench anymore. I'm back there. In that moment. [The flashback] "Stay in the car," Marcus says, checking his gun one final time. "I'll be in and out in five minutes. Ten at most." "Let me come with you," I argue, even though I know it's pointless. "I can help—" "No." His voice is firm. "You are not ready to witness what I do." I want to protest, but the look in his eyes stops me. "Understood," I mutter. He grips my shoulder, and for a moment, he looks almost... afraid. "If something goes wrong," he says quietly, "you drive away. You don't look back. You don't try to be a hero. You just drive." "Nothing's going to go wrong—" "Promise me, Shawn." I nod, throat tight. "I promise." He gives me one last look—so

  • Rise Of The Betrayed Omega    Chapter 90. The past.

**Shawn's POV** Stella’s question catches me off guard. I never would’ve come here on my own. Victor asked me to check on her before he left—asked in that way that wasn’t really a request at all. Ever since she lost temporary custody of her son, she’d shut herself away and her father was worried she was breaking apart in silence. I know what that kind of silence does to a person. I’ve lived it. It hollows you out slowly, until you don’t recognize yourself anymore. So I came. Not to pry. Not to fix anything. Just to make sure she was still living—for her pups, even if she doesn’t have them in her arms right now. “Shawn? Who is Marcus?” Stella asks again, watching me too closely. My instincts flare immediately—sharp and defensive. This is exactly what I didn’t come here for. I should’ve known better than to let the conversation drift anywhere near my past. I’m not doing this. Not here. Not now. “No one,” I say, my voice rougher than I intend. “Drop it.” "But you promis

**Stella's POV** "Thanks. So kind of you to notice." I start to close the door. "Now leave." His hand shoots out, catching the door. "Get dressed. We're going out." "I said I don't want to—" "And I said I'd answer your questions." He raises an eyebrow. "Or were you lying about wanting answers?" Damn him. "Fine." I turn away, heading back to my room. "Give me ten minutes." "Five." "Ten," I snap over my shoulder. "Or I'm not going at all." I hear his low chuckle behind me. "Deal." --- Twenty minutes later—because I'm petty like that—I emerge wearing leggings, an oversized hoodie, and a baseball cap pulled low over my face. Shawn is leaning against my kitchen counter, scrolling through his phone. He looks up when I enter, one eyebrow rising. "Trying not to be recognized?" he asks. "Trying not to be kidnapped again," I correct. "There's a difference." "Fair enough." He pockets his phone and gestures to the door. "Ready?" "No." "Good enough." We leave th

  • Rise Of The Betrayed Omega    Chapter 88. Get out of bed.

**Stella's POV** (Four Days Later) I don't remember much from the hospital only that there were flashes of white walls and the steady beep of monitors. Shawn's voice was present too, low and firm, arguing with doctors about something I couldn't focus on. They kept me for two days. Treated my injuries. Gave me fluids and pain medication and told me I needed rest. As if I could rest when my son was with that lying bastard and his evil mistress.... When they finally discharged me, Shawn took me back to my apartment. I barely registered the ride. Barely noticed when he carried me inside because my legs still weren't steady enough. What I did notice were the guards. Ten of them. Maybe more. Stationed around my building in rotating shifts. This was my father's doing, apparently. Protection against another kidnapping attempt. I should feel safer. But I don't. I feel… empty in this huge, quiet apartment. I can’t bring myself to do much of anything. My past life revolved arou

**Stella's POV** "Until we can verify Miss Matthews' means of income, and the circumstances surrounding these injuries." Elder Morrison closes her folder. "I'd estimate... five to seven business days." "A WEEK?" The scream tears out of me. "You're taking my son for a WEEK?" "Miss Matthews, calm down—" "NO!" I'm shaking now, and Noah's crying in my arms as I lose control. "You can't do this! The Council already ruled! You can't just—" "I can and I am." Elder Morrison stands as well. "For Noah's safety and wellbeing, this is the right decision." "Safety?" I laugh, the sound unhinged. "You're worried about his safety? His father cheated on me! His father isolated me, controlled me, destroyed me! And you're giving him back to—" "Stella." Diane's hand is on my arm. "You need to stop talking. Now." But I can't hold back the words that have been building for years. "You're giving my son to the man who made my life hell!" I'm shouting now, tears streaming down my face. "To t

  • Rise Of The Betrayed Omega    Chapter 86. I can prove my innocence.

**Stella's POV** "Let's continue in a civil manner," We all murmur in agreement. The elder nod with understanding. "Alpha Grant, you're implying Mr. Black introduced Miss Matthews to illegal fighting as a source of income?" Elder Morrison's voice is ice. "I'm saying it's a possibility worth considering," Cole replies smoothly. The nerve of this bastard?! "That's insane!" I'm on my feet, Noah clutching me tighter. "Shawn didn't introduce me to anything! I was kidnapped!" "By whom?" Sabrina asks again, her voice soft but relentless. "Who kidnapped you, Stella? Give us proof we can verify." I open my mouth, but what else can I say that they won't believe me? I have nothing. "Miss Matthews." Elder Morrison's voice cuts through my spiraling panic. "Can you provide any concrete evidence that you were kidnapped and forced to fight? Any witnesses? Documentation? Anything beyond your word?" "The video shows her fighting," Diane interjects. "Clearly against her will. She's inj
