Jamari’s POVWhy would Remiel send me his power knowing that it would make him vulnerable to Eve and her spell? How dare he risk being taken away from me! Power begins to build within me, the taste of Remiel’s full power becoming recognizable to me now that we weren’t in the middle of a battlefield. How could he do this to me? Doesn’t he know that I need him just as much as the other two? How am I supposed to go on while he is locked in a dungeon like some kind of criminal? “This is all my fault.” A sob leaves my lips as the weight of what Remiel has done comes crashing down on me. If I hand’t gone back to Duat like Kenji and Levi told me not to then none of this would have happened. I would have been safely at home with my two Kings, wrapped up in their arms. An unexpected pair of arms wrap around my body from beside me. “This is not your fault Jamari.” Lucifer’s lyrical voice washes over my tirade of self blaming. “Remiel made the decision to protect what is most precious to him
Jamari’s POVRemiel’s angry eyes flick to mine as soon as he hears us enter the dungeon area hidden behind the wall. A crazed look appears on his face as he watches us move further into the room. His badly burnt body twists on the bed Levi provided him, making me wince in pain while he doesn’t show any signs that he feels any pain at all. “Let me out of here.” He growls, no remnants of the Remiel I know and love visible in his words or actions. “This is a good look for you cousin.” Levi taunts, a vicious smile spreading across his face. “I should have locked your santimonious ass up years ago.” I cast Levi a disappointed look to which he only shrugged, grinning in my direction.“Release me Demon so I can return to my master.” My heart broke at Remiel’s words, agony taking over me and nearly dropping me to my knees.A strong arm catches me before my legs could give out and drop me on my ass. ‘Do not show emotions or weakness in front of him.’ Levi’s soothing words fill my mind, givin
Jamari's POVI woke up snuggled between two male bodies with no idea how long I had been knocked out for. Power flows through my system in quantities I haven’t felt thus far. I guess my body did need rest to recharge. I open my eyes slowly to look around at my surroundings. Nothing looked familiar, causing me to frown slightly. Memories of what happened at Lucifer’s cabin comes crashing back into focus, sending my thoughts into a frenzy of movement. Seeing Remiel harm himself like that was heartbreaking. And knowing that he is in that situation because he performed a spell to keep me safe makes the guilt weigh down like a rock on my mind. Arms wrap around me from behind, pulling me closer to Levi’s soothing body as he places a loving kiss along my collar bone. “Nice to see you awake.” Levi tells me, nestling his nose into my neck. That’s an odd thing to say. Just how long have I been asleep for? As if reading my mind, Kenji’s voice breaks through the quiet. “You’ve been sleeping f
Jamari’s POV “I really don’t think we need to bring so many Demon’s with us to the old Church Ruins.” I say for the hundredth time since finding out Levi planned on bringing body guards with us to the Ruins. “My Mother has made an appearance twice while we have been here, I am not taking any chances with your safety Red.” Levi says over his shoulder as he gives orders to six mean looking Demons he has stationed outside the perimeter of the Ruins. Once he finished giving out orders the rest of us moved past the barrier warily. Levi had a hunch that we would be able to bring armed guards within the barrier of the Ruins, but we weren’t certain that the old Church wouldn’t send us all flying away. We all stand right inside the barrier silently for what felt like forever before Kenji lets out a deep breath he had been holding. “Looks like the Church is allowing us to bring our protection across with us.” Collective gasps of relief floats around us from the six Demons that were brave
Jamari’s POV“Stay here and watch the staircase from down here.” Levi’s orders break through my thoughts as I stare around at all of the shelves full of books. It could take weeks to go through all of the books in this room. “There are a lot of books in this room.” My eyes continue to roam over the many shelves of books, my shoulders sagging slightly. Maybe finding this book won’t be as easy as I first thought. “How do we know which book is the one we need?” Kenji asks the words that have been weighing on my mind.Levi turns to me, his eyes studying me intently. “Can Athena tell you which book we are looking for? She is the one that told you about the book afterall, so she must know which one we need.”My lip disappears between my teeth as I think. Athena hasn’t made her presence known to me since that one time back at the cabin. “I’m not sure if I can contact her.” I tell them. “She has only ever reached out to me to tell me about that book and that is it. Her presence isn’t like R
Levi’s POV‘Sire,’ Ivan’s voice fills my mind causing my body to go rigid at the sound. ‘We have detected movement along the border of the Church.” Jumping from my seat, I say, “Someone is here.” But the look on Jamari’s face makes me suspect that somehow she already knew that.“We can’t just leave.” Jamari says, her eyes becoming desperate as she looks at me. “We have to find the spell that sets Remiel free.”“We’ll bring the books back with us and come back another time to look at the rest.” Jamari was already shaking her head before I got halfway through my sentence, sending my eyebrows up on my face. “These books aren’t supposed to leave the protection of this hidden library.” Jamari says quietly.“Well we can’t just stay down here and wait for them to trap us beneath the surface.” My voice rises in pitch, frustration starting to rise in me at Jamari’s difficulty. Kenji sits by quietly, watching the two of us stare at each other in a showdown of wills. After a few moments of si
Levi’s POVThe scent of blood hits my nostrils once the blackness fades around my vision, drawing my attention to the barrier surrounding the old Church. Blood hangs in the air, dripping down the invisible barrier that is protecting us from the incoming army that is currently hurling themselves towards us.A mix of vampires, werewolves, demons, angels, giants, and maybe more continuously throw themselves at the barrier in search of a weak spot that will allow them entrance. The sound of thumping echoes all around the clearing, mixed with the angry growls from the creatures trying to get to us. Ivan makes his way over to me, the five other demons that were left to guard the perimeter following close behind him. Their eyes continue to scan the area surrounding the Church, their bodies jerking with every slap of a body hitting the barrier. Mangled bodies litter the ground all around the Church, the creatures that are left standing stepping over their downed comrades in order to get to
Jamari’s POV‘Levi is taking a long time up there, I hope nothing went wrong.’ I pull my lip between my teeth and bite gently in anxiety. I never should have sent Levi up there. Or I should have gone up there with him at least. ‘Levi is fine Mari.’ Rieka’s assuring voice soothes my frazzled nerves. ‘We would be able to feel if something was wrong with him.’ I contemplate her words without responding. Would I be able to feel if Levi was hurt? I suppose I would, I knew when something was wrong with Remiel and the bond I have with him is currently not as strong thanks to Eve.Anger bubbles up inside of me at the thought of Levi’s Mother. How can a woman care so little for her son? My brows draw together in a frown. What happened to the loving mother from the memory we saw buried deep in Levi’s mind? Does that woman no longer exist?I turn my eyes back to the book sitting in front of me, distracted once again from the task at hand. Remiel needs me to find the spell that we need to set hi
