ROMAN.

I thought about anything that I could to help deflate the proof of just how exciting the idea of kissing my mate was. Pack politics. Boring paperwork. That time when I accidentally saw my Nana naked when I was a pup. Yup. That did it. A shiver went through me at the memory.

Storm’s shimmers disappeared, showing that Octavia was in control once again. Her heartbeat was gaining speed as her eyes darted all around us. I could feel the nervousness that trickled through our bond.

“Did Storm tell you what’s about to happen?” I asked her.

She nodded her head and turned her attention to me. That explained the nervousness. I remembered how nervous I had been.

“I’ve assisted countless first shifts, people who shifted at thirteen and those who were late bloomers. I know that you’re nervous, but you aren’t doing this alone. You have Storm, Creed, and me. I’m not going anywhere,” I promised her.

It seemed that my words were exactly what she needed to hear. Her mouth opened to respond, but s

  • Rise of the Phoenix Wolf   Chapter 51

KING LEZDEUS.The flames of the Kingdom of Sul’Karath never dimmed. They licked the horizon in eternal hunger, scorching skies that bled crimson and black. I had long grown accustomed to their heat, though I knew no mortal soul could have survived even a heartbeat in this infernal storm. The air itself was ash, the very wind whispering curses carried from the mouths of the damned. My realm was alive with torment, and that was precisely how I liked it.Every shadow carried secrets. Writhing echoes of souls that had been broken, flayed, and stripped until nothing remained but the husks of what they once were. Their whispers filled the stone halls of my kingdom like a symphony, each cry of agony another note in a melody that belonged to me. The shadows told me of their suffering, their despair, their endless descent into madness. And I listened.Savoring every single word.My demons were the true artists here. They delighted in chaos, weaving carnage with a precision that bordered on divi

ROMAN. I was thrilled that Brock had finally found his mate, just as I had been when James and Demetrius found theirs. The joy on their faces when the bond settled into place was something I would never forget. It was not just pride I felt for them, but a kind of relief too, as if each new thread the Goddess wove into our pack made the fabric tighter, stronger. For the first time since we took over the pack, our leadership was complete. The new mate-bonds hadn’t been finalized or anything, but I had hope that they would choose each other in the end.It fascinated me, the females the Goddess chose for us. None of them had lived easy lives. Each bore scars, visible or not, carved deep from the hardships they had endured. Yet instead of crushing them, those trials had shaped them into fighters. Resilient. Perceptive. Women who carried unique insight into the world. I could feel it in the way they moved, in the way their eyes watched everything as if measuring where they fit, as if bracin

BROCK. Octavia kept herself between Deira and me, and every step of it scraped along my nerves like nails against stone. Irritation burned hot in my chest, but I clenched my jaw and swallowed it down. Octavia never did anything without purpose. That was the only reason I kept myself and Gordon in check. My wolf prowled beneath my skin, restless, demanding to close the distance to the female fate had finally tied me to.I would never admit to anyone how jealous I had been of my best friends when they’d found their mates. Don’t get me wrong, I was thrilled for them. Overjoyed, even. But there had been that raw edge of envy cutting through my chest, the unspoken bitterness of being the last one standing.I was raised to value the mate-bond above all else. It was more than instinct. It was a vow I’d carried since I was a pup. That was the reason I was still a virgin, even now at the age of twenty-four. My body, my soul, my everything. I wanted my mate to have all of it, no fragments share

OCTAVIA.Her words seemed to ripple through the room. The air thickened, heavy and electric, brushing against my skin like static. A shiver raced down my spine, though the room’s temperature had not changed. The weight of the message pressed on my chest, my heartbeat thundering in rhythm with something unseen, something larger than all of us.“Do you understand what this means?” she asked, her voice calm yet piercing, her gaze sharp enough to feel like it reached inside me.I shook my head, though part of me already felt it—the pull of inevitability, the threads of fate tightening around me. The vision, the words, the promise of the Phoenix wolf and the Golden wolf—we were alive. Storm, me, Violet, and Reika, as if the world itself had bent to whisper the truth into my bones. And though I didn’t fully understand it, I knew one thing with absolute clarity: the path ahead would demand more than courage. It would demand everything I had.I realized with a cold certainty that this was only

OCTAVIA. Her eyes never left mine as she spoke, and for a moment, I swore I saw flames flicker in their depths.“Last night, the Goddess brought me into her realm,” Sister Daniella said, her voice dipping into a rhythm that felt less like speech and more like something being channeled. That certainly grabbed my attention because it wasn’t a common occurrence at all.“The Goddess showed me images,” she continued. “I was shown images of the future. The sky was torn in half—light and shadow bleeding together until there was no telling one from the other. Wolves howled, their cries echoing over broken fields. The earth shuddered, split, and from the ruins rose fire. Her phoenix, reborn, its being dripping embers that scorched and healed in equal measure.”Roman’s hand tightened around mine, grounding me, but I barely felt it.“I saw armies,” she whispered, her lashes lowering as though the memory still seared her. “Witches with eyes blazing like suns. Demons clawing their way through a ve

OCTAVIA. The ground beneath me was soft with blood, the metallic tang sharp in the back of my throat. Every step I took was careful, hesitant, as though I could somehow walk lightly enough not to disturb the silence of the dead. But the silence was already broken by the crackle of flames eating away at homes that once held laughter, by the groan of beams collapsing in the fire’s hungry maw, by the occasional hiss of magic that still lingered in the air like static, prickling across my skin.Bodies littered the ground, torn apart so savagely I had to force my eyes not to linger.Friends. Family. Warriors I had sparred with, children I had smiled at, elderly souls who took in everyone as a grandpup no matter if there was a blood connection or not. Their faces were frozen in terror or twisted in pain, some barely recognizable through the carnage. The smell was unbearable—smoke, blood, and rot all weaving together into a suffocating fog that clung to my hair, my clothes, my very soul. I s
