She intended to confront Sean head-on.

The moment Sean saw her, he immediately rushed forward, trying to hug her, but Vera shoved him away violently.

“Don’t touch me.”

Her voice was ice-cold, cutting through the air like a blade. There was no warmth left in her eyes at all.

Sean’s face turned pale in an instant.

Mrs. Garrett quickly stepped in. “Vera, what’s wrong with you? Sean is heartbroken too. Don’t be so harsh on him.”

Vera went to Evergreen Memorial Gardens. She knelt before his grave, crying like a child. She kept apologizing over and over again, but there was no response. The cemetery staff handed her the things he had left behind, which were a sketchbook and a diary.Inside the sketchbook were all the paintings he had created over the years of his childhood home and her portraits from their teenage years.Every image carried loneliness and a quiet, lingering sadness in its muted colors. The final piece was the one submitted to the art exhibition. It depicted a boy standing alone in a barren cemetery, with nothing behind him.It was titled ‘The Way Home’.Only then did Vera realize Miles had long since considered the cemetery his final destination. As for the diary, it recorded every thought he had from the day of the engagement banquet six years ago until the day he died.Every line was filled with despair and pain.Six years ago, when he received the call saying she and Sean had died,

The reason they had not found Miles after returning from the hospital with Sean last night was not that he had left on his own.It was because the cemetery center had already collected his body.Mrs. Garrett was the first to break down. She collapsed onto the floor, repeating the same words over and over.“How could this happen? How could he really be gone? Miles... my son...”It was true that she had never particularly favored Miles. However, she never wanted him dead.In her mind, he had always been strong. No matter how much pain or unfairness he endured, he would quietly bear it.Sean was always whining. That was why she had always paid more attention to Sean.Mr. Garrett stood frozen as well. The newspaper slipped from his hand. His face was filled with disbelief. He had always thought Miles was immature. No matter what happened, he instinctively sided with his younger son. Now, as he stared at that cold photograph, he suddenly realized that Miles had never truly fou

“Miles!”“No!”I listened to their voices, hearing them panic over me for the first time. The moment I landed, agonizing pain tore through my entire body.Blood poured from my wounds. It stained the flower bed below me red.Would they finally believe me now, even just a little?Rain began to fall, washing away all my blood and tears. It felt cold, and it hurt so much.Using the last of my strength, I whispered, “I'm tired...”I slowly closed my eyes, never to open them again.…By noon the next day, Miles’ family still had not found him.He fell from the balcony, but there was no body.Obviously, in that case, he was not dead.He had just run away.Mrs. Garrett decided that she was going to have a serious talk with Miles when he came home. How dare he threaten suicide like that!Vera frowned. Her voice carried a hint of irritation. “Where did Miles run off to? He's still sulking and refusing to come home.”Mrs. Garrett muttered, “When he gets back, I'm going to set h

That afternoon, I was collecting my laundry from the balcony.Sean walked over, a malicious smile spreading across his face.“Miles, you really have no shame, do you? Everyone hates you, yet you still have the nerve to stay here?”I ignored him and turned to leave. Before I could, he grabbed my wrist and leaned close to my ear. His voice was like a devil's whisper.“You probably don’t know this, but Vera has never forgotten you all these years. Her phone is still full of pictures of the two of you.”A flicker of surprise crossed my mind. Then, he continued.“I hate you so much, Miles. Why don't you just die?!”Suddenly, Sean yanked me hard. However, he did not expect to lose his own balance as well. The two of us crashed to the ground. My body lurched forward, and half of me tipped over the balcony railing. The wind howled around me as my feet dangled in the air. One wrong move, and I would plunge to my death.Sean panicked immediately and screamed in terror, “Help! Miles’
