Mabel.

This wasn't happening, I stayed away from the ceremony to ensure that nothing like this happened.

And he brought the entire pack with him!

“Lev, are you sure?" Malia’s voice broke through the stare down I was having with him.

“Wanna bet?" Came Cora's sarcastic response. I turned to see Malia scowl at Cora who had a wide grin on her face.

“Well, the mating ceremony was a success! Let's give them some privacy! It's a good thing that you were in the temple when he found you, don't desecrate our place of prayers!" Cora said as she ushered the other wolves out of the temple.

My mouth opened and closed like a fish because I couldn't get words out of my mouth to stop her from leaving both of us alone.

This shouldn't be happening!

“You look like you've just been handed a death sentence and not a mate by the moon goddess," Alpha Lev said to me as he walked casually around the area of the temple that I was in.

Mabel.“I, Lydia Thorne, challenge you, Mabel Everly, to a duel.” Her words cut through the low mutters that filled the hall. The moon goddess had always despised me, but I never realized the depth of her hatred until now. Why else would she allow Lydia , the most powerful female wolf in the Red Fang clan, to challenge a weakling like me to a duel of honor? A shiver slithered down my spine, as my widened eyes flew to elders and then Trevor, my mate, who sat beside me, hoping they would intervene and stop this madness. But none of them did, not even my mate. Three kinds of wolves were hated and looked down upon: first, a wolf with a weak form; second, a wolf that cannot transform into its beast form; and the last—the most despised of all, even by the former—were abominations—descendants of uhumans turned into wolves and that I was.“You know you can't refuse the challenge,” Alpha Trevor said to me through the mind link. “It would only prove you are a weak Luna,” he added. But I was a

Before I could react, her claws tore into my flesh, slicing my thighs and drawing blood. With a yell of pain, I collapsed to the ground.Above me, Lydia mounted, raining heavy punches down on my face. I tried to shield myself with my hands, but the pain of her blows was unbearable. The forest echoed with their roars, celebrating my demise. Why wouldn’t they? According to our law, the Luna must be either the Alpha’s mate or attained through duel of honor—killing the Luna. Mabel. My eyes opened and fell upon a young boy, probably around six years old, his brown eyes reflecting excitement.“You are awake?” He askedI stared around the room; the architecture and decor were entirely different from those at Red Fangs. It was obvious I was no longer there.“Sister Cora, she has woken up,” he shouted, dashing out of the room.I stared at my hands; my pulse quickened as I noticed there was no sign of trauma—no scars, no wounds.A young girl entered, holding a small bowl. a wide smile plastered on her face. She seemed even happier than I was to see me alive.“Drink this,” she said, handing it to me.I smelled it before taking it, but it had no smell.“You have to take it to regain your strength," she said, still smiling, urging me to drink it.As soon as it hit my taste buds with its bitterness, I spat it out.“Yeah, it’s very bitter, but it’s medicinal,” she stated, combing her black hair with her hand, revealing a tattoo. Mabel Cora’s eyes were fixed on me as I devoured the food. I was starving, perhaps I hadn’t eaten for days. We were back in the room where I had first woken up.“Are you going to keep staring at me like that?” I asked, feeling increasingly uncomfortable under her intense gaze.“Are you going to leave once you’re better?” she asked.“Of course.”“Where will you go?”The question hit me hard. I realized I had nowhere to go. None of the territories were safe for me, and you couldn’t just cross into the human realm without going through certain procedures, one of which required permission from the great elders.I dropped my spoon. “I don’t know.”“Exactly. You have nowhere to go,” she retorted. “But you can stay here.”“Your brother doesn’t want me here,” I interjected.I knew she was only keeping me here in hopes that I’d become her brother’s mate. If I didn’t, she might throw me out herself.“I’ll talk to him, I’ll convince him,” she said, slamming her hand hard against the table.Cora

After the black blood had dripped from his nose, the black veins had disappeared, and his temperature had returned to normal, though he still had not woken up.“How’s his temperature?” I asked Cora. She squeezed the towel and wiped his body once more before tossing it back into the bowl. “I think it’s normal.” Cora placed her hand on his forehead to check his temperature.I placed the small cup of medicine on the stool beside the bed. “We might have to get the Scordic plant.” I checked his temperature again. “It’s normal.”“The herbs from the forbidden land?” Cora asked.“Mmhmm.” I nodded. “This isn’t potent enough for him.”“I’ll discuss it with the head of Epsilon. Their canine heads rested on nearly ten-foot, humanoid bodies covered in fur. Aside from the dark aura they emitted, they looked exactly like my beast form. For the impending battle, I smiled and slicked back my hair, which complied effortlessly.I turned to Mabel. “Run and find a place to hide,” I commanded.A wolf without its beast form had no place in this battle. Her strength would be just a little above that of an average human. The battle began with a sudden lunge from one of the three Nightingales. I sidestepped with agility, causing it to miss, then gripped it by the tail and swung it into another. They kept coming, each taking turns to attack.
