POV: Brandon

I’m not saying I’m a chef, but the way I was flipping pancakes that morning? Call me a breakfast Picasso.

“Careful,” Cameron said from the counter, stealing blueberries straight from the bowl like a thief with zero regrets. “If you burn them, I’m revoking your kitchen privileges.”

“Excuse me,” I said, dramatically offended. “These pancakes are a work of art. You’re just jealous because I know how to use a spatula without injuring myself.”

“I’ve literally seen you melt a plastic spoon on a stove.”

“That was one time,” I protested, pointing the spatula at him like it was a sword. “And I was emotionally unstable.”

“You were trying to make ramen and it was this morning.”

“I said what I said.”

He just smirked, leaning on the counter with one hand and stealing another blueberry with the other. He was wearing another one of my hoodies—this one black and way too big—and his hair was still fluffy from his post-shower chaos.

POV: BrandonI’m not saying I’m a chef, but the way I was flipping pancakes that morning? Call me a breakfast Picasso.“Careful,” Cameron said from the counter, stealing blueberries straight from the bowl like a thief with zero regrets. “If you burn them, I’m revoking your kitchen privileges.”“Excuse me,” I said, dramatically offended. “These pancakes are a work of art. POV: BrandonI woke up to the sound of humming. Not angelic, not graceful—more like someone trying to win a karaoke battle in their own head. Off-key. Wildly confident. Weirdly charming.Of course it was Cameron.I blinked a few times, stretching like a cat, and turned my head just in time to see him tiptoeing around my room shirtless, wearing my hoodie—way too big on him—and a serious expression like he was about to perform open-heart surgery. On… his toothbrush?“Are you having a moment with your dental hygiene or…?”He jumped like I’d tasered him with my voice, then spun around dramatically, clutching the toothbrush like a weapon. “I thought you were asleep!”I smirked. “I was, but you singing Beyoncé woke me from the grave.”“I was humming,” he corrected, pointing the toothbrush at me like a judge. “And it was Frank Ocean, thank you.”“Could’ve fooled me.”“Whatever,” he huffed, turning back to dig through his overnight bag (which was actually just a tote with random chaos inside)

POV: CameronI didn’t want to move.I didn’t want to breathe or blink or do anything that would break the moment, because for once, everything felt still. My thoughts, my fear, my million insecurities—they all just… stopped. And all that was left was this: me, curled into Brandon on his tiny, kinda-saggy couch, our legs tangled together like puzzle pieces that finally made sense. His thumb rubbed slow circles over the back of my hand. Every few seconds, he’d lean over and kiss the side of my head, like he was reminding himself I was still there. Like he couldn’t help it.Honestly? Same.I couldn’t stop staring at him. His messy hair, the soft curve of his lips, the way his blue eyes kept drifting over to me like I was a favorite song on repeat. It was annoying. And perfect. And made my stomach do that stupid rollercoaster drop every time.“You keep looking at me like I’m gonna vanish,” he said finally, voice quiet and teasing.“Maybe I am,” I muttered. He raised an eyebrow. “Wanna tal

POV: CameronHis lips were on mine.I barely had time to process it. One second I was standing there, half ready to bolt, half ready to collapse, and the next—boom. His hands were on my face, and my entire universe had shrunk to the space between us.My heart did this stupid, chaotic flip like it didn’t know whether to panic or melt. Maybe both. Definitely both.Brandon was kissing me.Like actually kissing me.And not in the “haha truth-or-dare” kind of way. This wasn’t a joke. This wasn’t a maybe. This was real.My hands moved without asking for permission, grabbing the front of his hoodie like it was the only thing keeping me upright. His lips were soft and a little chapped, like he’d been biting them from stress. Or nerves. I didn’t care. They were perfect. He tasted like mint and something warm. Something that felt like home even though I wasn’t sure I’d ever really had one.I pressed closer. He didn’t pull away.Instead, he kissed me deeper, like he’d been waiting for this—for m

POV: BrandonWhen I opened the door and saw Cameron standing there, I thought maybe I was fucking dreaming. Or hallucinating. Or had finally lost my grip on reality and conjured him from sheer emotional burnout. But nope. There he was. On my porch. In real life. With messy hair, anxious eyes, and this strange energy rolling off him in waves. He looked like he’d sprinted across a battlefield and landed at my door like it was the last safe zone left.“You okay?” I asked, stepping out.His eyes darted everywhere—my shoes, the street, the crack in the sidewalk—anywhere but me. He opened his mouth. Closed it. Opened it again.“I—uh—I didn’t know where else to go,” he finally said.I blinked. Okay. Definitely not a hallucination.“You wanna come in?” I asked gently, stepping aside. He nodded, sort of, but his feet didn’t move. It was like he was glued to the spot, one wrong move away from bolting.“Cameron?” I asked again, softer now.He looked up. Finally. And there was something in his ey

POV: CameronMy fingers tapped against my jeans like a broken metronome. One-two-three-four, one-two-three-four. Useless rhythm for a heart that didn’t know how to calm the hell down.“Brandon’s place,” I told the driver, trying to sound cool, casual, not like my entire emotional life was in a blender on high speed. The driver glanced at me in the rearview mirror. “You okay, man?”I blinked. “Huh?”“You look like you just robbed a bank or lost your puppy. Or both.”I let out a breath that wasn’t quite a laugh. “Neither. Just… I don’t know. Emotional crisis?”He raised an eyebrow. “Love stuff?”I stared at him for a second, thrown off. “How did you—?”He shrugged like it was obvious. “You’ve got ‘please don’t let them hate me’ energy. Plus, you said ‘Brandon’s place’ like it was sacred ground.”I slumped back into the seat. “Wow. I am so obvious.”“Nah,” he said, turning onto the main road. “Just human.”I looked out the window, watching buildings blur past. “He might hate me.”“But he
