POV: Brandon

If there was one thing I was good at, it was getting us hopelessly off-route in the name of “adventure.” Which is exactly what happened when I saw a crooked wooden sign on the side of the road that said “Beach 6 Miles →” in faded paint.

“Cam,” I said, already turning the wheel before he could protest, “we’re making a detour.”

Cameron groaned from the passenger seat, forehead pressed dramatically against the window. “Is this another one of your serial killer detours? Because I’m not dying in a horror movie with bad cell service.”

“It’s a beach!” I argued, grinning. “You love the ocean.”

“I like the idea of the ocean,” he corrected. “The reality is sand in my shoes and screaming children.”

I patted his knee. “Come on, sunshine. Live a little.”

“Live a little,” I repeated, already halfway down the dirt road that looked like it hadn’t seen civilization since dial-up internet.

Cameron turned to me slowly, like he was resisting the urge to launch himself out of the moving car.

  • Rival's Contract Marriage    Chapter 132

Cameron’s POVThe room was too quiet. It was that weird kind of silence that buzzed, like your ears were trying to make noise just to fill the void. I stood there, frozen, my chest rising and falling fast. My grip had already left Drake’s collar, but the tension in my fingers wouldn’t go away. I was still shaking—maybe from rage, or maybe from something I didn’t want to name yet.But then Drake’s voice sliced through the air.“Do you think Brandon’s love for you is real?” he asked.I turned halfway, narrowing my eyes. “What are you talking about now?”Drake smirked, but there was something ugly behind it. “You call me a liar, but you never once stopped to think—what if Brandon’s been playing the game longer than I ever did?”My heart skipped. “You’re reaching. You always do.”“I’m not. I’m telling you the truth this time, Cameron.”“Why would I believe anything you say?”He didn’t answer. Instead, he grabbed his phone off the little tray table beside the bed. His hand trembled as he t

  • Rival's Contract Marriage    Chapter 131

Cameron’s POVThe hospital smelled like hand sanitizer and regret. I didn’t want to be here—not really. But I had to. For Brandon. For the mess he was stuck in because of me. Because I hadn’t seen Drake for who he really was sooner.I stood next to the bed, arms crossed so tight my fingers left crescent moons in my skin. Drake looked too clean, too peaceful for someone who’d detonated my whole life. Pale, bruised, hooked to an IV like a victim. But he wasn’t. He was the reason Brandon was facing charges. The reason I couldn’t sleep without feeling violated. The reason I felt like I didn’t know myself anymore. His eyelids twitched. Then slowly—way too slowly—he opened them. His gaze landed on me, and for a second, it was like nothing had ever happened.“Cam?” he croaked, a weak smile forming on his lips. “You came.”I stayed still.“You shouldn’t be here alone,” he added, like he was worried about me. Like he wasn’t the threat.I didn’t answer that. Just stared. “What will it take?”Hi

  • Rival's Contract Marriage    Chapter 130

Cameron’s POVI didn’t even realize I was still standing there. The hospital hallway was too white, too bright, too freaking cold. But I didn’t move. Not when my phone call ended. Not even when the line went dead and I was just staring at my reflection in the black screen, looking like someone I didn’t recognize. Then I heard her heels clicking behind me.Vivian.Of course.I turned slowly, and there she was—storming out of Drake’s hospital room in her tight white dress like some tragic villain in a soap opera. Mascara smudged, eyes puffy, but her voice? Sharp as ever.“You’re still here?” she snapped, arms crossed so tightly her knuckles turned pale.I didn’t answer.“What are you waiting for? A thank you? Applause for destroying everything?”Still, I didn’t answer. She stepped closer, pointing that same French-manicured finger at me like it was a knife. “You always bring disaster with you, Cameron. You did the same thing to this family when you were twelve. Don’t think I forgot.”I

  • Rival's Contract Marriage    Chapter 129

Cameron POVThe hospital smelled like bleach and quiet despair.I wasn’t even thinking as I rushed inside—just moving on autopilot, still wearing a wrinkled hoodie and Brandon’s old sweatpants. I barely stopped at the front desk before I found myself storming past confused nurses, searching for Room 308.Drake’s room.My heart was thudding so loud I could barely hear anything else. I didn’t know what I was going to say. I didn’t know why I even came. Maybe to see for myself. Maybe to beg for them not to press charges. Maybe just to scream. But then I saw her.Vivian.She was standing in the hallway, outside the door. She was dressed in this long white gown like she was going to a wedding and not sitting outside the ER. Her makeup was still perfect except for the black mascara streaking down her cheeks. Her eyes were red. She’d been crying. The moment she saw me, everything in her face changed.“You!” she shrieked.I froze. Before I could say a word, she grabbed me by the arm and yanke

  • Rival's Contract Marriage    Chapter 128

Cameron’s POVI was curled up in bed, face buried in Brandon’s hoodie, half-asleep and trying not to remember anything, when my phone started ringing violently on the nightstand.Groaning, I rolled over, squinting at the screen.“DAD.”Crap.I hesitated for a second. He rarely called. Like, ever. If he was calling now? Something was on fire.I answered slowly. “Hey, Dad—”“WHY IS YOUR FIANCÉ BEATING SOMEONE INTO A HOSPITAL BED?”I sat up so fast I got dizzy. “Wait—what?!”“You tell me!” His voice was full-blown thunder mode. “Do you have any idea the number of phone calls I’ve gotten in the last hour? From work? From the family board group chat? THE BOARD CHAT, CAMERON.”“I—I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I said quickly, fumbling with my phone. “Brandon left this morning—he said he was going to get some air. I thought—”“You thought he’d go to yoga?!”My heart was in my throat as I opened my message app.Over a dozen unread notifications. Group chats. Mentions. Tags. And then

  • Rival's Contract Marriage    Chapter 127

Brandon’s POVI couldn’t sit still anymore.Cameron was finally asleep—deep, real sleep, not that feverish daze he’d been in for hours. His breathing was even, his eyelashes resting against his cheeks like he wasn’t carrying the weight of what just happened. Like the world hadn’t shattered under him.But I was cracking.I walked out of the apartment and got into my car. No plan, no words. Just rage. Pure, blinding, bone-deep rage. And I knew exactly where to find him.Drake always went to the rink around this time. Said it was “therapeutic,” whatever the hell that meant. I parked so fast I nearly clipped a trash can and sprinted through the building, barely hearing the people yelling my name or telling me to slow down.I saw him.I actually saw him.Skating alone like nothing happened. Like the world wasn’t shattered and Cameron wasn’t in my bed right now flinching in his sleep.Drake.The second my eyes landed on his smug little face, something inside me snapped.I dropped my bag and
