Power Test

My mouth dropped at her request and I blinked like a hundred times within a second.

“What does she think she's doing?” I said rather too loudly to myself. Aurelia's eyes and mouth were wide open in shock, her eyes dilated more when she heard some of the crowd chant Lauren's name.

Showing their support to her choice. She turned to me for help. I couldn't tell if the look in her eyes were of fear or pain but I recognized the anger beneath them when I shook my head at her.

A sign that there's nothing I can do, there are rules to these matches and I can't break or bend them because of her. She was glued to her seat and her hand wrapped around the chair arm tightly.

Her pupil moved left and right, accessing the crowd. I signal Steve to usher out to the field so we can get over with it.

He didn't waste anymore time before going close to her, she turned to me with a raised brow.

“Really?” I shrugged before turning my attention back to the field. 

She made her way to the field not before telling Steve to back off and not come close to her. 

“I guess this is the easiest way to get rid of her. Did you plan this with Lauren?”

Steve mind linked me, I smiled at the thought of her nowhere close to me. Especially having my life back and having whoever I want.

“No I didn't, I guess she's as impatient as me”

She turned to me like she could hear my thoughts, she smirked at me then gave me the middle finger.

I smiled at her attitude, she's about to get killed or close to heaven's gate at the end of this match and she thinks it okay to give me the middle finger.

Lauren handed over her sword and picked a small pocket knife instead.

Aurelia was handed a sword and she returned it, I furrowed my brow in confusion. 

Is she planning on fighting without weapons? With her hand?

She asked for a chain whip instead, I couldn't stop myself from laughing out loud and the crowd joined.

“What does she think about it?” I heard Steve's voice. He must be as surprised as me.

“Child's play, I guess” the sound of Steve's laughter in my head was more funnier than the scene in front of me.

“Are you okay though? I can feel kharl’s restlessness and anger from here”

“He'll be fine” I sighed, turning off the mind link and ignoring kharl’s attempt to even talk to me. I kept blocking him out and pushing him to the back.

I turn attention back to the field, I watch Aurelia listen to the rules as they read them to her.

I shifted uncomfortably in my chair when the whistle was blown for them to fight.

To my surprise, Aurelia didn't launch the first attack, she took careful steps back as Lauren moved close to her.

I watched her grip the whip with both hands, I chuckled. They must be too heavy for her.

Lauren launched at her and she couldn't miss it even when she jumped back, Lauren's elbow hit her in the nose which started to bleed instantly…

I knew it, she's just the same. Some some few changes. With her head bowed, she held her nose tight with two of her fingers, trying to stop the blood.

Not wasting time, Lauren kicked her in her stomach and my mate was lying flat on the floor with blood oozing out of her mouth.

The crowd cheered Lauren on while the minority were murmuring on how absurd this is.

Lauren stomped on her back whilst still on the ground several times, my wolf was growling and I knew to better leave the scene or fight kharl with my strength.

After seconds of kicking and stomping on Aurelia, Lauren helped her up and smiled at her but it didn't last long. 

Aurelia landed a punch on Lauren's face, we all laughed at her because it was a weak punch. She threw her hand like a child, but when Lauren turned her face? It was a mess.

Everyone gasped, and just like that My mate went feral. Lifted the chain whip that she's been dragging and couldn't carry like it was a bag of chips.

She landed a heavy lash on Lauren and the gasping in the field was louder than the cheers!

Kharl was as shocked as I was, the few council of elders present had their mouths wide open and I was not excluded.

At first, I thought the first one was out of anger but the second, third and fourth were so random that I'm convinced she's been practicing somewhere.

Lauren was on the floor, a bloody mess with torn clothes. Lauren's eyes were filled with more disbelief than pain.

Aurelia grabbed the chain and wrapped it around her hand slowly, taking cautious steps towards Lauren like a predator stalking it's prey.

Lauren dragged her self in the floor away from Aurelia, Aurelia pulled her by her hair after meeting up with her.

She sat on Lauren caging her with her knees on Lauren's hand, she landed a slap on Lauren's face with the chain in her palm. The crowd winced along side Lauren, we all can agree that something changed that moment.

Aurelia dropped the chains beside her but didn't stop, she continued to punch into Lauren's face.

Wanting to punch a whole in it because she kept on attacking one side of her face repeatedly, from here I can tell Lauren's face has been completely disfigured.

And Aurelia? All I saw was anger, pain and revenge while Lauren looks like she could give up anytime soon.

Lauren grab a little amount of sand and threw it up, which means she give up and accepted defeat.

The whistle was blown but Aurelia didn't let Lauren go immediately, she grabbed a handful of sand and poured it into Lauren's mouth and plastered her face with the remaining one.

She licked the blood off her face and with a sinister smile as they announced her the new best female fighter in the pack.

My mate didn't look like she cared. She's different, everything about her is different.

Has she been pretending and hiding her true color from me?

The answer is No.

“This isn't my mate. This is not the woman I married!” I muttered to myself.
