(Tyra's POV)

I hadn't remembered anything since I played chess with Athena two days ago. I'd tried a few times, but I was met with nothing.

I still didn't know who I remembered or how I beat Athena in chess every single time we played. Maybe she was just letting me win.

I stepped out of the bath and dried off. Freya helped me change my bandage.

"How'd you know how to change bandages?" I asked, watching her.

"My elder sister taught me."

"You're really good at this. Have you ever thought about w

(Kanyon's POV)"Say her name again," Jace said."No.""Just once. In your head. I want to hear how you say it when you're nervous.""I'm not nervous.""Your heart is doing a drum solo."I stood at the library window, watching snow fall across the training grounds, and tried to ignore him. Mr. Marcus had been discharged two days ago, and Lily had come home that evening glowing the way she did when she'd done something right. She'd also been avoiding this room since the night I kissed her.I hadn't pushed. I'd told her to take all the time she needed, and I'd meant it.But Jace had been relentless.Let me meet her properly. You promised. The door opened. I didn't turn around. Rain on my skin, lilies in the air. I knew her footsteps better than my own now.She stopped just inside the doorway. I felt it through the bond, a flicker of hesitation, the instinct to retreat."You're thinking about leaving," I said."Can you hear my thoughts now?""No. But you stand a very particular way when y

(Kanyon's POV)Arnold was already in the meeting room when I arrived. He stood beside the window, his hands clasped behind his back as he watched the snow-covered grounds. He turned when I entered."Alpha.""Arnold." I gestured towards the chairs. "You wanted to speak with me."He nodded, taking his seat. I settled opposite him, resting my hands on the table.Arnold leaned back slightly. "It's about the young woman staying at the pack house.""Lily.""Yes. Lily."I waited for him to continue."I've been meaning to bring this up for some time now, but I wanted to give you the opportunity to explain the situation yourself.""And what exactly is it you want explained?""Who is she?"I frowned. "You know as much as I do. We found her injured in the forest. She had no memories, no identification, and no idea where she came from.""Yet you've allowed her to remain in the pack house.""She's under my protection.""That's precisely what concerns me."My jaw tightened slightly. "How?"Arnold f

(Tyra's POV)I opened my mouth, but nothing came out.I like you a lot.Five words I'd spent weeks telling myself I'd imagined. He'd said them plainly, with no hesitation, in the same steady voice he used when he told me not to overwork myself. As if it were simply true.My heart was beating so fast I was sure he could hear it. Maybe he could."Lily?"I stared at him. "You like me?"He smiled. "I just said I do.""But..." I looked down at my hands. "Why?"He leaned back against the sofa, studying me. "Do I need a reason?"I didn't know what to say.I liked him. I knew that much. But hearing him say it made everything feel different. But it felt wrong. I was a rogue with amnesia. Nothing more, nothing less. Just a doctor working in his pack."You barely know me," I mumbled."I know enough."I glanced at him. "What if there's something you don't know?""Then I'll get to know it.""I..." I pressed my fingers to my lips again, then dropped my hand when I realised what I was doing. "I need

(Tyra's POV)The last patient of the day was a pup with a splinter and a lot of opinions."It's going to hurt," he told me solemnly."A little," I admitted, tweezers poised. "But then it'll be gone.""Promise?""Doctor's promise."He squeezed his eyes shut. I pulled the splinter out in one clean motion, and he opened one eye, saw it sitting in my palm, and looked at me like I'd performed magic. I gave him a sticker from the drawer Lena had stocked for exactly this reason. He left with his mother, chest puffed out, already planning to tell everyone.I washed my hands, signed the chart, and checked Mr. Marcus's file one last time. Both doses, both signed. I made Lena witness it, and she did, with a small, knowing nod.Naomi wasn't at the front desk when I walked out. I didn't let myself wonder where she was.Kanyon's car was parked at the curb, engine running, and he was leaning against the passenger door with his coat open and his hands in his pockets like he had all the time in the wo

(Kanyon's POV)I woke up before my alarm, which almost never happened. For a few seconds I just lay there, staring at the ceiling, replaying last night. Lily across a candlelit table, trying so hard to look unbothered while her fingers kept fidgeting with her napkin. The way she'd laughed when I said Jace was worse than I'd made him sound. The way her whole face had gone soft when I told her I liked the name Lily.Whole. Even without all of it.I hadn't planned to say that. It had just come out, and for once I hadn't wanted to take it back."You're smiling," Jace said."I'm not.""You're smiling at the ceiling. It's disturbing.""Go back to sleep.""I'm a wolf, I don't sleep, I observe." He sounded far too pleased with himself. "She let you carry her inside.""She slipped on ice." I rolled my eyes at him "She let you carry her inside and then she buried her face in your chest."I rubbed a hand over my face, but the smile wouldn't go away. "I know."I did know. That was the part I kep

(Tyra's POV)Thankfully, Naomi didn't make any comments as I walked in and asked for Mr. Marcus's patient file. Maybe she hadn't seen Kanyon dropping me off. That was good."Good morning, Mr. Marcus. Oh, Kai, I didn't know you were around."Kai looked up from the chair beside his father's bed and gave me that easy grin. "Morning, Doctor Lily. Someone has to make sure he doesn't sneak out through the window.""I'm not sneaking anywhere," Mr. Marcus grunted. "I'm sitting here being poked at. Again.""That's what a hospital is for, Dad.""A hospital is for people who are actually sick.""Your leg was rotting.""It was going to heal eventually."I pressed my lips together to hide my smile and pulled on my gloves. "I'll be gentle.""You'd better be."The wound looked better. The swelling had gone down and the edges had finally started to close, though it was still slower than it should have been. I cleaned it, changed the dressing, and opened the chart to check his medication. My smile fad
