Chapter 3

Author: Ava
After they left, Luna stared at me and let out a long, weary sigh before speaking.

"Ella, I'm sorry. I tried to persuade him, but..."

"No, Luna. I know Kelvin won't change his mind. Please don't worry about me."

"It can only be this way then. Ella, return to your den and prepare for Derek to claim you."

Hearing her words, I felt the weight on my heart finally begin to ease.

However, just as I was about to drive back, I noticed someone standing beside my car.

When I walked closer, I realized—it was Kelvin.

His wolf snarled in fury the moment I approached.

"Ella, what did you say to my mother? Don't even dream I'll change my mind. I've already marked Amanda. Go check her neck if you don't believe me," he snapped, his tone cold and cutting. "I've said it before: there's only one Luna—and that title belongs to her."

As he spoke, Amanda appeared behind him, her smile bursting like fireworks in the air.

I turned around to face her, only to be met with a smug, triumphant grin.

The fresh mark on her neck gleamed in the light—like a cruel symbol of victory.

My heart trembled violently at the sight of that fresh mark, and I could feel my wolf sobbing in a low, pained voice.

I swallowed my tears, forcing myself to look away from the crimson imprint that now stained Amanda's neck.

"Well, Ella, you've seen it for yourself," Amanda said with a mocking smile. "Kelvin marked me just now, and this mark symbolizes his love for me. Only a Luna deserves such a mark. Our bond grows stronger by the day—only the Moon Goddess herself could break it."

Then she let out a loud, scornful laugh that echoed in the air.

Kelvin stepped forward and added coldly, "Don't bother me with meaningless things anymore. As for the moonstone ring—give it to Amanda. Only the Luna of the pack has the right to wear it."

His gaze dropped to my hand, his eyes narrowing.

"Where is it?" he asked.

I stared at him, my voice ice-cold.

"I broke it—by mistake."

"What?" Kelvin's eyes widened in disbelief. "You even shattered it? Do you have any idea what that ring was? My mother inherited it from my grandmother—it's the symbol of the Luna in our pack! And you broke it?!"

His claws extended sharply, and for a moment, I thought he might actually attack me.

"She's lying, Kelvin!" Amanda jumped in quickly, clinging to his arm. "She's just jealous that I'm your Luna now. That's why she refused to return the ring. She destroyed it out of spite!"

Kelvin let out a furious growl and stormed toward me. He grabbed my arm roughly.

"Where is it, Ella? Stop playing games!"

I yanked my arm free from his grip, meeting his burning gaze with steady eyes.

"It fell to the ground the day you came to my den," I said calmly, each word deliberate. "The shards are still on the table. Go see for yourself if you don't believe me."

“Ah! Ella, I never knew you were such a venomous she-wolf!” Kelvin roared, his eyes blazing with fury.

“All that grace, understanding, and obedience—it was all fake! You destroyed my grandmother’s most cherished possession just because I wouldn’t claim you as my Luna?”

His wolf surged within him, pacing wildly beneath his skin. I could sense how hard he was trying to keep his rage in check.

Amanda quickly stepped forward, her voice dripping with triumph and mock concern.

“Kelvin, I told you from the start—she’s cunning and deceitful. Now you finally see her for what she is. A hypocrite. Selfish and manipulative.”

She pointed a trembling finger at me, her voice rising.

“She destroyed your most treasured heirloom and even tried to turn your mother against me, just to make her hate me. Everything she does is calculated.”

I held back the urge to defend myself—what was the point? Kelvin would never believe a single word I said.

But even if he did… would it change anything?

I had already made my decision. I would bond with Derek.

There was nothing left between us now.

From this moment on, Kelvin would never have the power to wound my heart again.

With that resolve, I steadied my breath, forced calm into my veins, and met his gaze with a face devoid of emotion.

Then, slowly and clearly, I said the words that would end it all:

“Kelvin, I—Ella, daughter of the Southern Werewolf General—reject you as my mate!”

Kelvin quickly scrambled to his feet, pretending nothing had happened. But he couldn’t meet Derek’s gaze. The moment Derek stepped forward, Kelvin instinctively backed away, a forced, awkward smile twisting on his face.“D-Derek… Ella…”Derek’s expression turned stone-cold. The smile he wore seconds ago disappeared without a trace, replaced by a chilling stillness that felt more dangerous than rage.“Ella is my future Luna,” he said, his voice low and razor-sharp. “If you have any objections, say it now—while you still can.”His tone carried the weight of a threat. The kind only a predator gives before it strikes.Kelvin dropped his head, visibly shaken by Derek’s overwhelming presence.Derek stepped beside me, pulling me gently into his chest, his arms wrapping protectively around me.“Are you okay, Ella?” he whispered. “I’m sorry I came too late. But I’m here now—don’t be afraid. I won’t let anyone hurt you.”“I’m fine,” I murmured. “Just… tired. I want to go rest.”I reached for his

“So... bad timing,”Derek muttered with a hint of frustration, clearly disappointed that our kiss had been interrupted.Still, he composed himself quickly and walked me outside—only to find Kelvin waiting in the reception hall.Kelvin looked pale and lost, pacing anxiously like a wolf without a direction. Panic filled his eyes, and he couldn’t stop fidgeting.“Derek... would you allow me to speak with Ella for just a moment?”Kelvin’s voice trembled with desperation as he looked at Derek, pleading.Derek arched an eyebrow.“Of course I will,” he said coolly. “But don’t forget, Kelvin—she’s my mate now. I’ll be claiming her soon. So whatever you have to say… make it quick. And don’t try anything stupid.”With that, Derek gave my shoulder a gentle squeeze and shot me a firm, reassuring look before walking away. The moment he was gone, Kelvin rushed toward me like a drowning man grabbing for air. He grabbed my hands tightly, his voice trembling.“Ella, please… be my Luna. I was wrong. So

"Kelvin, you useless mutt. It’s a disgrace to be marked by you!"Amanda’s voice shook with rage as she glared at him, hatred burning in her eyes."I’ll call a meeting and announce it to the entire pack—I’m severing our bond for good!"Kelvin stepped forward, his face twisted in disbelief."Amanda, you were the one who came to me! You said you loved me… that you wanted to be my Luna!"Amanda scoffed and shoved him hard."How dare you bring up the word 'Luna'?! Didn’t you just call Ella your Luna in front of everyone? You’re a filthy bastard—you don’t deserve to be Alpha!"She lunged, grabbing the collar of Kelvin’s shirt, her wolf barely restrained beneath her skin.Kelvin shoved her back, growling."Don’t act innocent! Did you forget you once called me a coward? A stupid mutt? You’ve loved Derek for years! How dare you use me and then pretend it never happened?!""That’s because my father told me Derek was dead!"Amanda’s voice cracked."He said Derek was the strongest young wolf he’d

“Do you think I need your approval to claim my own mate, Kelvin?”Derek’s gaze locked onto him like a predator guarding his prize. There was fire in his eyes—a wolf ready to fight.Kelvin’s jaw clenched. “Derek, my father arranged Ella for me! You have no right to claim her. You’re not even an Alpha anymore—you’re just a rogue wolf with no pack!”His voice was raised, trying to be authoritative, but as Derek stepped forward, Kelvin visibly trembled and backed away half a step. Before Derek could respond, Amanda exploded.“Kelvin! What the hell do you mean?! You told me I was your Luna!”She screamed, face twisted in rage.“You marked me yesterday! Our bond was witnessed by my father and blessed by the pack!”Her voice cracked as she slapped Kelvin again and again, eyes wild. “How dare you say she is your Luna now?! You bastard!”The crowd buzzed in shock, eyes darting between Amanda, Kelvin, and Derek.Just then, a man pushed through the crowd and stepped in front of Derek.“Alpha, giv

As his voice fell, the once-silent crowd erupted.“Who is he? I’ve never seen a wolf that powerful!”The spectators murmured in awe.“Derek? Is that really you?”Kelvin stared at the tall figure, slowly rising from his seat. His voice trembled in disbelief.“Yeah, it’s me, Kelvin.”Derek didn’t even turn to face him fully—just glanced over his shoulder with a cold, familiar confidence.Amanda’s father stood up as if struck by lightning, his eyes wide with shock.“Is that… the third son of your father? The one exiled from the pack years ago?”Kelvin nodded stiffly. “Yes. He was ruthless, arrogant, and disobedient. He broke pack laws more times than I can count. Eventually, even Mom and Dad couldn't tolerate him anymore. They cast him out. I heard his wolf was nearly destroyed in a battle… and then, nothing. No one heard from him again. The elders thought he died.”“That’s impossible…”Amanda’s father slumped back into his seat, eyes clouded, as if haunted by the past.“I thought he died

Kelvin froze for a moment upon hearing my words, then suddenly burst into laughter.“Ella,” he scoffed, his voice dripping with disdain, “do you really think this pathetic little act will make me change my mind? You think you can threaten me with a rejection? Don’t be ridiculous.”Amanda sneered beside him, stepping closer as if to claim victory. With a sharp, mocking tone, she spat,“So now that your little performance has failed, you’re resorting to pretending you’ve rejected him? Please! Do you really think Kelvin would be afraid of something like that? He only needs one mate—me. As for the other,” she gave me a cold, dismissive look, “you can stop dreaming. No one else has the right to even covet that position.”I looked at them, their laughter ringing in my ears, and my heart felt as cold and lifeless as ice. Without a word, I turned and reached for the car door. But Amanda rushed forward and blocked my way.“What now? Running away after being exposed?” she sneered, eyes gleaming
