Chapter 24

DELLA

I poked at my plate of eggs and bacon. It was dark. Only streaks of orange had now painted the sky's dark purple background. I hadn't been feeling very good since I left Hunt and I couldn't ignore the way my heart grew sore each time I thought of him.

I kept on replaying our last conversation over and over in my head. There was both a mixture of fear and anger in his eyes. I only chose to see it as anger then, but it was fear too. And sitting here now poking through my breakfast made me realize that he still did care even though his words cut right through me. He was scared. I was scared. Scared of what me being a hybrid meant.

Hunt was simply mad at the fact that I was with a bunch of rogue werewolves and that I had accepted their help over his. There was nothing he could do for me or for the baby I was carrying. These werewolves, whether rogue or not, knew what I was and I needed answers.
