4. "Everything okay, Teresa?"

Tessa's POV

I would be lying if I say that I am not excited to see Ronan today. I mean I am always excited to lay my eyes up on him but today feels special. 

After he dropped me off safely back to my pack house we had some unfinished business, I have to thank him for his generosity. I felt some anxious butterflies flying in and out of my stomach as I walked down the school premises.

The students were scattered here and there and my best friend Amelia approached me from afar. 

Her beautiful face lit up as she saw me and she immediately came rushing towards me and we hugged tightly.

Amelia was out of town for a few days because of her family and now she is finally back, so I won't have to suffer from the wrath of the Dark Moon pack alone. 

"Girl! How are you doing? I heard some juicy stuff about yesterday! I want all the details!" she exclaimed excitedly and a few students looked our way. 

I tugged her to the wash room along with me so that we could have some privacy.

I filled her in about everything that happened yesterday, including Ronan coming into the storage room to have me.

"Girl, you're blushing!" She teased me which only made me blush further. I didn't know why I had this effect but just Ronan's name can make me all hot and bothered.

We talked some more in the washroom as I catches up about the singing competition. Amelia is a great singer and she always participated in contests but she is refraining to do so this year.

Then the bell rang and we started to move out of the washroom. But, I saw Melissa walking in, so I asked Amelia to go ahead as I stayed in the washroom.

"Good morning, Tessa." Melissa greeted me melodiously.

"Good Morning," I replied cheerily as I noticed a chain in her neck and immediately recognized it.

"You know, Alpha Alex has a very similar chain," I told her, contemplating her expression. 

A smile touched her face as she replied, "It is his," and I raised my brows in surprise. I was not expecting her to say that.

Alpha Alex, is Amelia's elder brother as well as the Alpha of the Red Moon Pack. Their pack conditions were very poor when his father died all of a sudden but Alpha Alex has improved their pack extensively since he became the Alpha.

I looked at her in question, then she added, "He dropped it at the party the other day, so I picked it up," she said and I nodded at her in understanding.

"Melissa, why are you wearing his chain? I mean we only wear another person's token if we like them," I asked curiously in a soft voice.

She smiled sheepishly as she looked at me, and I immediately understood. 

She likes him!

She said with a little bit of guilt, "You won't tell anyone, will you?"

"No, of course not," I promised her, and then she scurried away blushing profusely.

Interesting!

'She likes Alpha Alex! But, I am sure there will be a lot of people in the school, including her own brother- Zane, who will be against their union. That's why she wants to keep it under wraps.' I thought to myself as I left the room as well and headed to the class.

All the students were seated in the class as I took my place besides Amelia. Ronan was a few seats away from me, sitting right behind Melissa. 

I think he might be interested in her, and why wouldn't he be? Melissa is extremely beautiful, every guy on the campus wants to have a chance with her. 

"Hi, Melissa, would you like to go out for coffee after class?" I heard Ronan asking her out. He was practically hanging out from his seat as he leaned towards her. She looked a bit uncomfortable by his question so he added, "Or maybe we could go out for the movies?" 

"I have a dentist appointment actually, why don't you and Zane go together?" she said to him and I smirked happily knowing that she is not going out with Ronan.

"Okay, sure. If you say so," he replied and moved back in his seat.

I glanced at Ronan and a burning desire spread through me when I looked at him. He was looking great as usual, he was not wearing his leather jacket today as the weather is pretty warm, and his sleeves were rolled up. His toned arms were porn to my eyes as I looked at him dreamily and recalled how he saved me yesterday.

"Ron, I think this girl likes you," Zane's voice halted me out of my mind's trance. And, I widened my eyes realizing that I got caught while I was gawking at Ronan. 

I looked back at notes as my face burned. However, my ears were plastered as I waited for Ronan's reply.

He took a quick glance at me and then snickered as he said, "Ugh, I would rather die before banging that nerd," he mocked and got back on paying attention to the class.

I, on the other hand, felt like bawling my eyes out. I sniffled lightly trying not to draw any attention as I adjusted my glasses a little.

Zane laughed at his words as he added, "Yeah, she is a bit embarrassing to look at."

"She dresses like a ten year old emo, for God's sake! I have better standards than that," Ronan added and I looked down at the oversized hoodie that I was wearing as his words pierced my heart.

I tried to stay quiet in my seat as I clenched my fist in a white knuckled grip. 

I am so fucking angry right now! I know my entire day was ruined, possibly, my entire week. Just because I am their laughing stock.

My jaw trembled as I tried to hold back my tears but I could not. So, I got up from my seat and asked the teacher's permission to excuse myself from the class.

Looking at my dissolved state the teacher agreed readily and I rushed outside the classroom.

I reached the campus garden and took a deep breath as I sat on one of the park benches.

I just need to be alone for a while and I will be okay! 

You don't need their validation to feel pretty! I reminded myself.

I am enough! I changed over and over in my head as I tried to calm myself down. But, I am sure if anyone looked at me right now they would think I am a lunatic.

I felt myself calm down a little after a few moments but my heart accelerated again when I heard a husky voice saying, "Everything okay, Teresa?" And I stopped breathing.
