Mag-log inAthena sighed with relief. Lorraine did not sound winded or distressed, so everything was okay.
That meant it was not a dangerous intrusion. But…“They have him?” Raymond asked immediately.
She looked at him in surprise. Wait, how did he…? Never mind. “Yes, they have him. They are almost here.”This time, she did not bother wasting her breath again when he fell in step beside her as she headed for the door.
“I am also coming.”“No, Zaya,” they both chorused.
Zaya looked like she wanted to argue when they both turned to her. A look at their forbidding faces and she threw her hands up in surrender, “Okay, okay. I will just treat this as a five-star hotel. I will make your soldiers serve me while you are gone dealing with adult matters,” she muttered in annoyance. “Knock yourself out,” Athena tossed over her shoulder as she stepped out the door. She walked briskly down the hall, frowning. Who could that be? she wondered.
Rogues had been the main intruders since she started building Moonvale back.
Those who showed interest in joining the pack were undergoing trial training at the moment. There is already a system in place for handling any new rogues. Lorraine would not bring the intruder to her if it was just a rogue. As she stepped out of the house onto the porch, Lorraine emerged down the driveway with another soldier and a young-looking man.
Athena's gaze was fixed on the man, who was looking around curiously. His black hair was in a mohawk style, the shaved sides leading to pierced ears. He had on baggy jeans, oversized jumper and boots.
Attitude oozed off him even before he finally stood before Athena.“Your Majesty, we found this intruder at the border. He refused to state his intentions until he sees the alpha.”
Athena raised her brows at that as she looked at the young man.
He was looking back at her with defiance in his eyes. His golden eyes reminded Athena of someone.“You are welcome to Moonvale. Why are you here?” she requested.
He looked from Athena to Raymond, and responded. “I only want to talk to the alpha,” then to Raymond, “Are you the alpha? You are the one I need to talk to.”“You just ignored the alpha of this pack, idiot,” Lorraine snapped.
The man looked back at Athena in surprise, “A girl? I was told the alpha is a male.”He lost Athena's consideration for privacy the moment he used that condescending tone.
“You have a minute to state why you are here before this girl alpha shows you what happens to people who enter her land uninvited,” her commanding tone whipped out.He hesitated, then blurted, “I am looking for a man. I was told once I find the alpha of this pack, I would find him.”
Whoever told him that must think her father was still the alpha.
That spiked Athena's curiosity. “Who is the man you are looking for?”His hesitation died as he looked at Lorraine's stern face.
“Mr. Mackavelli.”Mackave…
Athena's skin prickled as the hardly-used surname registered in her mind.Beta Lupo?****
Who is the young man, you say?
What changes will his arrival bring to Moonvale and even to Athena's relationship and reign?
You will soon find that out as you turn the pages, dear reader.

Morrigan's rebirth came with many changes.Athena didn't even need to put in the effort of envisioning her wolf in her mind’s eye before she started feeling the heat in her limbs. Her muscles shifted and stretched fluidly with no pain at all as red hair turned to silver mane.Limbs lengthened and bowed.Stretched and straightened as her clothes snapped away and smooth skin turned to silver fur. From where Raymond stood, he couldn't take his eyes off the mesmerising scene before him.Not only was Athena a rare silver wolf, but the magnetic aura coming from her was so overpowering that he would have found himself on his knees if he wasn't a powerful alpha himself.
A small smile teased Athena’s lips as she watched the crowd get pumped up by victorious energy. She looked to Raymond and saw him watching her with admiration at how well she had turned the tense situation around. She reached for his hand. He linked his with hers and automatically kissed her knuckles as he whispered in a heartfelt tone, “My queen.”Even as Athena’s heart swelled, the grim sight behind her seemed to burn a tattoo on her back. She raised her hand and they went silent again.“As for those who betrayed us. Fate has dealt with them in ways we wouldn't have wished. I will leave the decision of how to deal with their bodies to our council,” she nodded at the twelve alphas.
Dominic looked taken aback before he moved towards her with a limping gait as he hurriedly spoke, “When we got to that room, I tried to attack him. She stood between us, daring me to come near her master. I was trying to reason with her to come back to the side she belonged to when he suddenly grabbed her. He buried the dagger in her and started punching her so fast that I couldn't do much to save her. He knocked me aside and escaped out here, Your Majesty. I really tried to stop him. He was…” He looked ashamed as he finished, “He was too strong for me, my queen.”“Why is she blaming her soldiers when she was the one just cosying up to him moments ago?” someone whispered behind her.Athena ignored that and took her eyes off Dominic. Something caught her eye as one of the soldiers behind him looked around uncomfortably, like he had something to say.As he turned his head, their eyes met, and he immediately looked away.Athena frowned and was about to call him when she felt Raymond sli
“Athena,” Raymond’s whisper pulled Athena out of her messy thoughts. She looked up at him with glistening eyes and kept staring into his eyes as he wiped her tears with his thumbs.A frown marred his forehead even as he whispered, “They are waiting for you.”“Just as you are,” Athena thought.Though he didn't say it, she knew he was confused as to why she was crying over someone they all hated.Someone who had caused everyone standing there pain in one way or another.Someone who had ruined too many packs, including hers. She could feel the weight of others' eyes on her as well. And anger. The confusion filtering through their auras was fast turning into anger.Athena wondered if Raymond was angry with her as well, but she didn't ask him yet.She had things to settle with him later anyway. For now… she fluidly rose and turned, not seeing the hand Raymond extended to her.Everyone was looking at her with a mixture of emotions on their faces.Even those she could feel their angry auras
“What is going on?” she asked anxiously as she sat up in bed.“We are getting out of here, baby,” Raymond answered as he went to her.She looked at the black ashes staining his trousers and realisation dawned on her.“Gauis?”“Probably being finished off by one of ours right now. I really want to do it though,” Raymond said as he helped her up.“What?! But how?” she asked groggily.“Remember my promise to him? I delivered,” Raymond said with a bitter smile. At Athena's still confused look, he added, “The coalition soldiers are right outside now to finish the rest of them off. We have more soldiers now, d
Raymond nodded once, his eyes blazing with the promise he had made to Gauis before. The vampire would not see the end of the day.He tried to avert his eyes from Richard's crumpled body as he followed the vampire out.His eyes burned at the thought of how things had turned out for the brother he once loved.“Athena,” Raymond whispered as he followed the vampire down the darkened hallway lit with candelabras.Soon they were in a room designed in different shades of red like a dominant’s playroom, yet it looked so regal that Raymond was sure it belonged to Gauis.“What do you need for her?” the vampire asked as Raymond gently set Athena down on the silk
