Athena sighed with relief. Lorraine did not sound winded or distressed, so everything was okay.

That meant it was not a dangerous intrusion. But…

“They have him?” Raymond asked immediately.

She looked at him in surprise. Wait, how did he…? Never mind.

“Yes, they have him. They are almost here.”

This time, she did not bother wasting her breath again when he fell in step beside her as she headed for the door.

“I am also coming.”

“No, Zaya,” they both chorused.

Zaya looked like she wanted to argue when they both turned to her.

A look at their forbidding faces and she threw her hands up in surrender, “Okay, okay. I will just treat this as a five-star hotel. I will make your soldiers serve me while you are gone dealing with adult matters,” she muttered in annoyance.

“Knock yourself out,” Athena tossed over her shoulder as she stepped out the door.

She walked briskly down the hall, frowning. Who could that be? she wondered.

Rogues had been the main intruders since she started building Moonvale back.

Those who showed interest in joining the pack were undergoing trial training at the moment.

There is already a system in place for handling any new rogues.

Lorraine would not bring the intruder to her if it was just a rogue.

As she stepped out of the house onto the porch, Lorraine emerged down the driveway with another soldier and a young-looking man.

Athena's gaze was fixed on the man, who was looking around curiously.

His black hair was in a mohawk style, the shaved sides leading to pierced ears.  He had on baggy jeans, oversized jumper and boots.

Attitude oozed off him even before he finally stood before Athena.

“Your Majesty, we found this intruder at the border. He refused to state his intentions until he sees the alpha.”

Athena raised her brows at that as she looked at the young man.

He was looking back at her with defiance in his eyes.

His golden eyes reminded Athena of someone.

“You are welcome to Moonvale. Why are you here?” she requested.

He looked from Athena to Raymond, and responded.

“I only want to talk to the alpha,” then to Raymond, “Are you the alpha? You are the one I need to talk to.”

“You just ignored the alpha of this pack, idiot,” Lorraine snapped.

The man looked back at Athena in surprise, “A girl? I was told the alpha is a male.”

He lost Athena's consideration for privacy the moment he used that condescending tone.

“You have a minute to state why you are here before this girl alpha shows you what happens to people who enter her land uninvited,” her commanding tone whipped out.

He hesitated, then blurted, “I am looking for a man. I was told once I find the alpha of this pack, I would find him.”

Whoever told him that must think her father was still the alpha.

That spiked Athena's curiosity.

“Who is the man you are looking for?”

His hesitation died as he looked at Lorraine's stern face.

“Mr. Mackavelli.”

Mackave…

Athena's skin prickled as the hardly-used surname registered in her mind.

Beta Lupo?

  • Royalty In Rag: Return Of The Wolfless Queen   The Voice In Me

She realised her mistake as the queen turned to her with her hand stretched out and said, “It's fine, Kam. I think we can trust him. Something… something in me makes me feel that he is trustworthy.”Her wolf? Could it be that Morrigan was waking up again?Lorraine’s heart leaped at the thought, but he had to ruin it with his voice.“Great, now that all that is settled, we need to go now. They might be sending their backup as we speak.”She expected him to turn towards the door. Instead, he moved closer to the bed. Greta and one other midwife moved the other two bassinets closer to the first one.He looked at Damien, who stood just outside the door, and commanded, his tone reminding Lorraine that he was not just the annoying man she wished she could shrug off. He was an alpha. A powerful one at that.“Clear this place out and get back immediately. Don't engage them unless you can't afford not to. I want no casualties. Bring all our men back. I think our mission here is done. The huma

  • Royalty In Rag: Return Of The Wolfless Queen   She Remembers?

“Not a bit,” Lorraine responded immediately, knowing time was running out, and getting the queen to trust her was crucial to their departure. If she caught any hint of a lie from her now, she might hesitate, and who knew if those bastards were already on their way with more backup? The queen's face clouded with more confusion as her daughter continued rubbing her finger against her nose. “Then, who are…?”“I am so sorry for interrupting you, my queen. But we really need to leave here. I…” She looked up to see Greta and the other midwives watching, but she couldn't care enough for niceties now. She leaned closer to the queen and said, “This man… I am not so sure that he has nothing to do with everything either. If he is putting on a show, I need to get you out before he shows his hand. I will protect you and…”“And how do you intend to do that, Gamma?”Logan's voice as he came through the door made Lorraine stiffen as she swung to face him. Her hand jerked to the gun at her waist. “We can't stay here. We have to go,” Lorraine said hastily as she entered the delivery room again. The midwives had already taken care of the babies. Though she looked tired, the queen was also awake. Anger beat like a bat against Lorraine’s heart at how things had turned out. The most powerful woman, the queen of the werewolf kingdom, had just given birth. She should be receiving loads and loads of gifts from all ends now. Her mate should be by her side through it all, showering her with love, praise and attention for giving birth to the alpha pups. Seeing the red, black and chestnut brown of the triplets’ hair made Lorraine want to throw her head back and howl in rage. The queen deserved ultimate pampering right now, yet she was just about to…“What do you mean, Kam?” Sonia asked anxiously as she tried to sit up in bed.Lorraine rushed towards her and helped her up. “Please, be careful. I don't want you to worry about this, okay? Just focus on the pu… the kids. I promise I wi

Maybe the moon goddess was adding salt to injury with her own shade of punishment too.Still, he rejected it. It couldn’t be.“Shut up, Ruger,” he snapped. It was enough that he had dragged him into a situation where his hideout was about to be ravaged by the men after his so-called destiny. He did not need any other nonsense at the moment.“Of course, leave it to the moon goddess to pick someone with her own complications as the saviour of his pack,” he scoffed.“Alpha…”“I know,” he drawled in response to Damien’s warning. The men were close by now. They had spotted his men and were already moving closer to take them out.“Bastards must think their cloaked scent will make some difference,” he snorted.“Now!” he ordered his men through the mindlink. They swung into action immediately, surprising the bastards who thought they were about to carry out a sneaky attack. They realised their mistake instantly as they were surrounded on all sides.Logan strode out, followed by the few men be

  • Royalty In Rag: Return Of The Wolfless Queen   Two Mates?

Logan Rostov, alpha of Mirage Pack, stepped out of his mansion, tense and ready for battle.“How many?” he mindlinked his beta, Damien.“Fifteen so far, alpha. But it looks like they are coming in batches.”“How the fuck did they discover this place?!” Logan snarled out loud.“Looks like they got a tip-off, Alpha. They seem so sure of the exact location,” Damien responded in his mind. “Should we cut them off before they get too close?”“Not yet,” Logan responded. Their first lookout base was too close to the populated human territory not to draw attention. The house itself was still far from where Damien was mindlinking from.It was isolated away from the close-knit suburban houses, surrounded by woods, and prime for shifting and runs while keeping them away from the inquisitive eyes of humans. But if the men were directly heading there, they would find the location soon, and he had discovered that at least one of the three he had finished off was a werewolf.Which meant they would p

Two uniformed staff with covered trays on a service cart.“Alpha”, they both bowed and opened the trays. The savoury scents wafted towards Lorraine’s nose, making her stomach growl embarrassingly even as her body reacted to it.He washed his hands with the bowl of water in the second compartment of the cart, wiped them, then lifted one of the toasts to her mouth. When Lorraine blinked at him blankly, he said impatiently, “You said you are not allergic to anything.”“Yes,” she breathed as her brain finally caught up. “But that does not mean I trust you enough to eat anything you…”“If I wanted you dead, Gamma, I would have easily snapped your neck,” he said testily.Lorraine bristled. “Try it.”“I could. Then you would be dead. Then your queen, who thinks she is human, would never learn the truth. Who knows? I might kill her too. Depends on my mood.”Lorraine’s eyes blazed at that, protective fury shooting adrenaline into her system. She opened her mouth to say something, and he cramm
