Kane Hau Alexander's POV

I got to New York, a bit late because of a sudden security check. And it was when I couldn't find my rider that I realized that my phone was switched off.

I heard that hockey players had arrived in California two days earlier, so I borrowed an elderly man's phone and called Carl. He didn't pick up the call at first, but after the same number kept calling him repeatedly, he angrily picked up.

>“What do you want, scammer?” He growled into his phone. “Stop calling me!”

Kane Hau Alexander’s POVI froze. “You like me?” I repeated his words.‘He likes me?’ My eyes stayed on him, searching for something… hesitation, doubt, anything that would make this easier to dismiss. But there was none. Only honesty, and his raw intense feeling. When I told Coach Marshall I wanted something in return, it was a lie. I never wanted anything. I just needed a reason… something that would stop Ethan from looking too closely at me. Something that would make him not think that I was doing all of this for him.“Have you forgotten what I told you in the beginning?” I asked, forcing my voice to remain steady as I looked away.Ethan’s eyes dropped. “No. You said you don’t believe in love… and you will never love me.” His voice cracked. “I’m not asking you to love me. I just want you to know how I feel.”Tears slid down his face, but I said nothing. Instead, I stood and walked to the window, staring out at the dark sky like it could give me an answer.“Do you even know me?” I a

Ethan Oliver Harrison's POVI was given a separate room, and my room was located in a secluded area of the floor. I knew who was behind it, but I wasn't mad at him.“Do you want us to share rooms? If you can't stay alone in one room, feel free to join me,” Daniel suggested, looking around my room.It was the biggest on the floor, and it had a great view. Coach Marshall refused to give me at first, but the hotel manager insisted that he was my fan, and he wanted me to stay in the best suite.“It's alright. I am used to staying alone anyway,” I replied to Daniel, and he nodded. He turned to leave, but stopped when he got to the door. “Hmm…” he stuttered, his eyes looking around anxiously.I furrowed my brows, wondering if he wanted to say something. “Is everything alright?” I asked him.Daniel turned to face me. “About Kane…”My eyes widened. “What about him?”“Hmm, we are not friends. Don't listen to the nonsense he was saying earlier,” Daniel stuttered, his eyes nervously looking arou

Kane Hau Alexander's POVI boarded my flight to Canada. It was unexpected, because I was supposed to be in either London for the award ceremony or California for season training.Luckily, earlier that day, I had informed my manager about my trip, and he had changed my schedule. According to my new schedule, I'd have about four days to spend in Toronto, Canada, before heading back to California. And because I didn't want to arouse suspicion, I bought a new house in Canada, and I'd told my coach that I was personally renovating the house. When my plane landed in Canada, I booked a hotel, took a warm shower, and lay on my bed, hoping to rest for a while. Unfortunately, I dozed off. My growling belly and my phone's ringing tone woke me up the next morning. There were over twenty missed calls from Geneva, two missed calls from Eve (Ethan), and seven missed calls from Carl.I wanted to call Ethan, but I made a mistake and clicked on Carl's number. I tried to cut the call, but he picked it

Kane Hau Alexander's POV“How dare you?!” My father yelled at the top of his voice, his eyes blazing with fury.I sat still on the couch, unbothered by his shouting. My phone was in my hands, and I casually scrolled through the internet.“What are you angry about, father?” I asked with a calm voice. My father pointed his index finger at me, his eyes widened, but he was too furious to speak. “You this son….you—” he stammered, and began to breathe heavily.“Father, don't stress yourself. Little Hau is not worth your shouting! Also, the doctor said your blood pressure must be constant. You can't be stressed out every time,” Franklin, my sister, said with a smile, and gently tapped my father like the good daughter she isn't.My father looked like he wanted to argue, but Benjamin handed him a glass of water.“Take this, father. I will handle him, I promise,” Benjamin said to my father.I scoffed. “Handle him? Who? Me?” I paused and looked him in the eyes. “I thought my brother was dead al

Ethan Oliver Harrison’s POVThe applause for the awards was still going on when I stood up. I didn’t remember deciding to stand. My body just… moved.“Ethan,” Daniel called softly, but I walked past him.I couldn’t sit there any longer. Not after that speech. Not after that look on Noah’s face. Not after hearing them laugh. Not after knowing that I wasn't as important as I thought. The hallway outside the ceremony hall was quieter, but not silent. There were still people moving around, staff, security, and a few athletes lingering.I kept walking until I reached a secluded corner. Then I stopped. My hands clenched into fists, and I angrily punched the walls, getting a cut in the process.“…Pathetic,” I muttered under my breath.I didn’t know if I was talking about them… or myself.I was about to tend to my injury, when I heard footsteps approaching.“Ethan!” a husky voice called out to me.I didn’t need to turn around to know who it was. “Coach Marshall,” I exhaled slowly and faced h

Kane Hau Alexander's POVI looked into my car's mirror once again. After confirming that I was well dressed and ready, I took a deep breath and got out of my car. There was a sleek glass and wood building in front of me. The surroundings were lush with grass. Dozens of cars were parked in the building's garage, and hundreds of staff members were coming and going. They were all dressed in black corporate suits. By another corner of the building, there were security officers who stopped people who weren't dressed properly or expensive.I was wearing casual pants and a one-dollar shirt, but there was a pass card in my hand. Every member of the Williams-Hau’ family was entitled to one. It was one of the items that made us ‘the’ Williams-Hau family. Most of the new staff didn't recognize me because I rarely came to this company, but the older staff and sports fans immediately recognized me.“Good afternoon, Mr. Hau Williams.” They all bowed in unison to greet me. The security officers in
