Ethan Oliver Harrison’s POV

The sound of the slap echoed across the restaurant.

Derrick staggered slightly, his hand flying to his cheek, his eyes wide with shock.

For a moment… no one spoke. But the air felt different, like something had shifted.

The same teammates who had been loud and aggressive seconds ago now stood stiff, their confidence slipping.

My teammates knew who Lambert was. I wasn't sure of the friendship between them, but I have heard them talk about him numerous times, and back

  • Hockey Rivalry: Bed first, game later    I love you too

Kane Hau Alexander's POVDAYS LATER:I put my plans aside to attend Lambert's funeral. Ethan, Daniel, Lilly, and I were the only ones who attended the private service. Lambert's extended family refused to come because he murdered his parents. From what I heard, he poisoned his mother and stabbed his father before his own tragic demise. The burial service was cold. There was no sermon or any special activities. No one cried, we just stared at Lambert, reminiscing about the memories we had with him. I attended the service because I didn't want Ethan to go alone, and I also didn't want him to feel helpless as he looked at the corpse. Daniel begged us not to tell anyone that he attended the funeral. Lambert was his cousin, but because of his betrayal, no one in the Clementine family wanted to be associated with him.Lilly looked at Lambert's pale body, and she burst into laughter. She laughed so hard that tears flowed from her eyes and she ran off to the restroom.I could relate to ho

  • Hockey Rivalry: Bed first, game later    Lambert's letter

Ethan Oliver Harrison's POV Have you ever been abandoned by someone you trust? When it happened, what was your first reaction? Angry? Bitterness? Fulfilment? Lost? Heartache?Everyone reacts differently to situations, and as I read through Lambert's letter, I realized how stupid I had been. For years I blamed him for every bad thing that happened to me. I didn't pick up his calls or ask for an explanation. Maybe because a part of me knew that he wasn't aware of what happened six years ago. I just needed a scapegoat. Someone to blame for my suffering. Someone to hide how pathetic and weak I was.“He's dead, isn't he? The police confirmed the news, didn't they?” I asked, when my apartment door opened.“Yes, he's dead. I saw his body. The officers in charge also said that it was suicide,” Kane replied. His voice sounded calm, like he wasn't moved by what had happened.I forced myself to stand up from the ground, and I wiped my tears. “H-how did he do it?” I stuttered.Kane's eyes wi

  • Hockey Rivalry: Bed first, game later    The way he looks at him

Hey guys. This chapter contains sensitive content about suicide. If you cannot handle it, please don't read.NEVER TAKE YOUR OWN LIFE. IT'S NOT WORTH IT.—--Lambert Clementine's POV Thirty minutes before his death:I carefully wrapped the gift with a red ribbon, and I put my letter in an envelope. Tears were rolling out of my eyes as I did all these and I stood up to pick the newly bought box.Everything felt numb, and all I had was an aching heart.I packaged everything, and my friend, Lilly, promised to deliver it to Ethan.I sat alone on my bed, reminiscing about how my life was before I met Ethan. It was dark…I was alone, and I lived just to satisfy my family and get my revenge.Ethan showed me a brighter world. He made me realize that although we were both broken, we could still accomplish much more if we put our minds to it.He saw me as a friend, a friend he trusted with his secrets. But I…I fell in love with him. That was my first mistake. But was it really my fault? Etha

  • Hockey Rivalry: Bed first, game later    The news

Ethan Oliver Harrison's POV “Ethan, come with me right now. There is someone I want you to meet,” Coach Marshall said, his voice filled with excitement. When I didn't move because my eyes were fixed on Kane, he whispered something into my ear and pulled me away. “What is she doing here? Are you trying to get on my nerves again?!” Those were the questions my eyes were asking Kane as I was pulled away. The few people present were snapping pictures of my teammates and me, and Belgium's well-wishers had left, disappointed. Marshall took me to the locker room, making sure that no one saw us leave. “Mr Rogers, this is Ethan Harrison, one of our finest players. Ethan, meet Mr. Rogers, your soon-to-be new manager,” Marshall introduced me to a scary-looking man. Marshall had a menacing smile on his face, like he was plotting something devilish, and he stretched out his hands to shake Mr. Rogers. I furrowed my brows, slowly processing what he had just said. “You mean I have a new manag

Ethan Oliver Harrison's POV:“Take a deep breath. It's okay,” a soft voice whispered into my ears, and I immediately recognized it as Daniel's.I nodded at him, and he left to get dressed. There were dozens of messages on my phone. Kane's was one of them. He sent me a picture I had taken of him two years ago, during an important semifinal.*You quietly cheered for me for years. You were one of my secret anchors. It’s my time to cheer you on.*I smiled as I read his message, and I replied with a heart emoji.I waited for the arena’s horn. When it didn’t sound, I pushed myself up from the locker room bench, the scrape of my skates against the floor cutting through the low murmur of my teammates.Today, everyone looked serious. The usual theme music was turned off. Just quiet focus, and the kind of tension that didn’t need words.I rolled my shoulders once, then twice, feeling the weight settle into place. My head felt lighter, and I reminded myself to do my best and leave the rest.My g

  • Hockey Rivalry: Bed first, game later    A day before tomorrow

A Few Days Later: a day before the competition between Canada and Belgium–Ethan Oliver Harrison's POV:“Don't worry, Catherine, I will be fine. You don't have to attend the competition, just stay at home and take good care of your restaurant,” I said over the phone, and Catherine sounded reluctant.“Be very careful, Ethan, and make sure you don't get hurt again. Remember, I will always be cheering for you, regardless of the match outcome,” she replied with a solemn tone.I nodded, even though I knew she couldn’t see me. Every day, Catherine's actions keep assuring me that I didn't make a mistake when I decided to take her as my parent. After our call, I realized that I had ten missed calls from Liam and Aurora, my biological parents. There were also hundreds of messages. In one of the messages, Liam was threatening to disown me if Canada's team lost against Belgium.I chuckled as I read his message, and I had a sudden urge to lose. But losing meant I wouldn’t be rewarded by my dear

Ethan Oliver Harrison’s POVI slowly opened my eyes. But my eyesight took time to get familiar with the dark environment. A tear dropped from my eyes, and I didn't bother to clean it. Instead, I allowed it to roll down my chin I kept looking at the door, hoping he would come back and apologize fo

Ethan Oliver Harrison’s POVThe applause for the awards was still going on when I stood up. I didn’t remember deciding to stand. My body just… moved.“Ethan,” Daniel called softly, but I walked past him.I couldn’t sit there any longer. Not after that speech. Not after that look on Noah’s face. Not

Kane Hau Alexander's POVI looked into my car's mirror once again. After confirming that I was well dressed and ready, I took a deep breath and got out of my car. There was a sleek glass and wood building in front of me. The surroundings were lush with grass. Dozens of cars were parked in the build

Ethan Oliver Harrison's POV“He's gay? And he plays sports? What a pervert!” One of the baseball players said, and his teammates nodded in agreement with him.I felt embarrassed, not because of my sexuality, but because I was becoming the real center of attention. I looked down the hall, and I saw
