Arita’s POV

Here I am at the front of Verity Academy.

My dream school.

I wasn’t here as an applicant this time but as a scholarship student who had worked very hard to get here. The result came out a few days ago, pronouncing a boy and me as the winners.

Verity Academy is a beautiful school, with tall buildings of modern design. It is seated at the center of the city, making it very popular, but only a few can attend because the f*es are not something a person like me could afford. Presidents, senators, ministers, and CEOs’ children are the only ones who can afford the f*es. Luckily for me, I got a scholarship that covers every f*e.

I was nervous, not sure of how this school would treat me. My first day in every school has always been a bad experience, as my mates make mockery of my face.

I breathed out, hoping this first day would be different from the others.

My hands adjusted the straps of my bag that contained the few books Mom had gotten for me. It was a bag she had gotten at the thrift store.

I walked my way to the class with my head bowed, my eyes reading the directions on the map.

The map led me to an end corner. Nothing here looked like a classroom.

I was lost.

I looked around, trying to see if I could find someone approachable to ask for directions, but each person I stopped ignored me. Some looked at me weirdly like I wasn’t supposed to be here.

What I was putting on was old compared to the designer wears and fancy bags they were carrying, but that doesn’t make me an animal. I still look good in my clothes, even if they are old.

After a long time, I finally found the class, and to think I had passed this route three times today.

By the time I got to the class, everything about me wasn’t right. My breath was heavy, my face looked dull and sweaty.

The makeup I had applied to conceal the big pus on my face had been ruined, forming cracks like mud on my face. The pus was now visible, making me lose my confidence.

I folded my hands together, squeezing them as I stood nervously at the entrance door, waiting for the teacher to notice me.

She finally did. She looked at my appearance and rushed me in without any criticism or mockery.

For the first time in a long while, I saw someone who didn’t look at me with disgust apart from Mom and, of course, Ray.

“You must be the newly admitted scholarship student?” she inquired, her voice calm and welcoming.

“Yes ma,” I responded.

“You’re welcome to Verity Academy. You are late on your first day,” she said.

“I got lost finding my way here,” I explained.

She nodded, her eyes full of understanding.

“You can find an empty seat. When I am done, you will come up to introduce yourself.”

Thank goodness she said that because I don’t think I could even remember my name right now. I was too unsettled, too nervous, and my feet were as cold as ice.

I looked up for the very first time since I had stepped into the class, and there sat people my age staring at me.

I stepped forward, ready to sit beside an empty seat I saw, but before I could get there, a girl from the front stood up and sat beside the guy.

She gave me a hateful stare, her eyes daring me to move any closer.

I swallowed hard while I looked the other way, searching for another empty seat.

When I saw another one at the left of the class, the lady placed her bag on the empty seat, marking boundaries.

I sighed. I expected this, but I didn’t know it would be this mean. Having no other choice, I moved to a seat at the back. It was an isolated seat at the far corner of the room.

When the teacher, whose name I later knew to be Miss Celeste, saw that I had settled down, she continued her teaching. It was an interesting class as she was teaching us the use of English.

The long awaited time came, the introduction.

I was summoned back to the front of the class to introduce myself.

I stood up and walked my way around the rows, trying not to stumble, trying not to seem nervous, but I failed. My leg slipped, making me fall down flat.

Everyone burst into laughter, making me cover my face in embarrassment. I felt like the ground should open and swallow me, but it was an impossible wish.

Shamefully, I stood up when I saw the laughter had died down.

My legs walked their way to the front. I bowed softly and introduced myself, my voice almost shaky.

Thankfully, everyone wasn’t looking at me anymore, as they were whispering among themselves.

I was confused but thankful that something had diverted their attention away from me, and when I thought I had escaped the humiliation, someone walked in.

Her presence showed power, wealth, and expensive taste, and of course she smelled good.

Her skirt was extremely short compared to mine. She is the type that would attract attention easily.

Everyone in the class looked at her in admiration. She stood like a model before the class and removed her shades, making everyone compliment her.

“You are shining, girl.”

“Go girl.”

“Is that the latest shade released by Tis Fashion?” the lady who had looked at me meanly earlier asked.

“Of course. You know I only wear branded stuff,” the lady replied. Her voice sounded familiar.

I tried to get a closer view of her, but she turned instead as Miss Celeste addressed her lateness.

“You must be tired of your job,” the lady replied instead of apologizing.

I found it quite surprising watching how she spoke so rudely to the teacher.

“So rude,” I uttered before I could stop myself.

The lady shifted her gaze to me, and that was when I saw her clearly.

She was the same lady at the well furnished house Mom and I had worked in some weeks ago.

My eyes widened and the lady smirked.

“Oh, the ugly cleaner,” she said, her voice loud and audible.

Arita’s POVI couldn’t take any more food, as everything suddenly smelled bad to me. With the help of Mom, I managed to walk back to my room.Shortly after we got in, Sophia came in with an elderly woman who looked like she would be in her fifties. Her hands held a small wooden box. She bowed slightly before sitting on the bare floor, placing the box in front of her.The box was opened, revealing different herbs and tools inside. She picked some of the tools and moved towards where I lay. Her hand rubbed some herbs on my stomach, while she rubbed some on my palm. She checked my eye color and also the color of my palm.I didn’t quite know what she was doing, as all these methods looked too archaic compared to what a doctor would have used if I were in the city. After what felt like years, she withdrew all the tools from my body and placed them back neatly into the box just as she had arranged them earlier. I must admit she looked neat and confident about her work. The room was extremel

Arita’s POVSophia had rushed in immediately when I woke up, more like she was my spirit guard through the dreamland. Her face held panic and, at the same time, relief.“Thank goodness you got back before things got complicated,” she said.I remembered staring at her like I had seen a zombie because I hadn’t really recovered from the dream.“Arita. Arita,” she shouted, and that did the magic.“Who was that lady they killed? What was all that dream about?” I asked hurriedly, like she would understand.Surprisingly, she did.“Those are your kind who suffer from other kinds. That was how badly your kind was treated for years.”“What do you mean? I am a witch and we’ve all been treated unfairly?”“Yes,” Sophia replied.Something in me started boiling. It was coming from within. Before I could understand what was happening, I was already floating in the air, high above the ground. My body had disappeared from the thatched house to the open field. My eyes were white as snow, my hair coated

King’s PovI walked out of the blood sucker before he could spill any more nonsense about joining forces . No way I am ever seeking his help for anything from him.I got into the car to leave, the route I took was definitely not the way home, nor was it the way to my office. It was the way to the border that linked the humans with the werewolves. The border has been made invisible to humans by the moon goddess for years without any bridge until the past few months when the hunters finally found it.I parked the car just a few distances away from the seal. Getting in was so easy as this wasn’t my first and the seal recognized its alpha.A beautiful land appeared, filled with green lands and flowers, the flowers that the witches had made grow on the land years ago.I followed the walking path till I got to the center of the pack where everyone resided. As every pack member sighted me, they all bowed slightly to pay homage to their alpha.I waved in acknowledgment of their greeting, even

King’s POV“Just pick up,” I panicked, staring at the phone, hoping to hear her voice again, but nothing came.I have been like this since the elders left, calling and trying to find Arita, for I knew what my kind can do to her if they get her first.Although I have been warned then, that doesn’t mean they won’t still hurt her since she is a very big threat to our kind.My phone dialed the same caller again and again, but there was still no response.Regret swept through me. I wish I had opened up to her earlier, wishing I had handled what I was to her better. Maybe she would have trusted me enough to run to me.Monvane groaned in me, his pain flowing through my emotions. He has been like that since he found out Arita was our mate.Silent.I paced around the white painted room I called home. The silence I once liked has now become something I no longer like, especially now that I feel hollow. All I wanted now was to see Arita, hug and kiss her, or even make love to her just like I sho

Arita POV“Your trainer. That’s who I am,” Sophia replied with all seriousness.“Why do I feel like you are way more than what you claim to be?” I asked, my eyes looking at her in disbelief.“Maybe you are just overthinking it,” she said simply.“Now, let us continue what we are here for,” she instructed.“We have already trained, Sophia,” I replied as I was already feeling tired. God knows all I wanted to do right now was go into that thatched house and lie on the wooden bed all night, and even all morning if possible.“You have only done the basics of your training,” she replied. “To discover who you truly are, it will take a series of training sessions.”I sighed.“Now, think of yourself creating a bubble with water,” she instructed.I did as she instructed. My hands folded into the air as if I was used to doing that. Well, I believed I could do that. If I could undo whatever happened minutes ago, then I could actually do this.Nothing came out of my compressed hands, not even a sp

  • Ruin Me,King Owen   Chapter 71

Arita’s POVThe lady we met on our way the other time came with the food. It was served on a plate that looked nothing fancy yet clean. The aroma of the food already filled my nostrils.“Thank you,” I said as I collected the food, my mouth already salivating. On opening the plate, the food was nothing like the type I knew back in the city. It looked nothing like anything I had tasted before, yet it smelled so nice.I contemplated. Is Mom really sure we are safe here? What the hell? Why is everything completely different from normal?I stared at the food for minutes, hesitation running through my blood, but that did not even last a minute as my stomach decided it was the perfect time to start grumbling loudly.I picked up the wooden spoon on the tray and scooped a mouthful of the semi solid food in the plate. The taste of something appealing and delicious filled my tongue. It felt like eating manna on earth. My hands hastened with every scoop I took. This is so different.Eating like I
