Arita’s POV

Here I am at the front of Verity Academy.

My dream school.

I wasn’t here as an applicant this time but as a scholarship student who had worked very hard to get here. The result came out a few days ago, pronouncing a boy and me as the winners.

Verity Academy is a beautiful school, with tall buildings of modern design. It is seated at the center of the city, making it very popular, but only a few can attend because the f*es are not something a person like me could afford. Presidents, senators, ministers, and CEOs’ children are the only ones who can afford the f*es. Luckily for me, I got a scholarship that covers every f*e.

I was nervous, not sure of how this school would treat me. My first day in every school has always been a bad experience, as my mates make mockery of my face.

I breathed out, hoping this first day would be different from the others.

My hands adjusted the straps of my bag that contained the few books Mom had gotten for me. It was a bag she had gotten at the thrift store.

I walked my way to the class with my head bowed, my eyes reading the directions on the map.

The map led me to an end corner. Nothing here looked like a classroom.

I was lost.

I looked around, trying to see if I could find someone approachable to ask for directions, but each person I stopped ignored me. Some looked at me weirdly like I wasn’t supposed to be here.

What I was putting on was old compared to the designer wears and fancy bags they were carrying, but that doesn’t make me an animal. I still look good in my clothes, even if they are old.

After a long time, I finally found the class, and to think I had passed this route three times today.

By the time I got to the class, everything about me wasn’t right. My breath was heavy, my face looked dull and sweaty.

The makeup I had applied to conceal the big pus on my face had been ruined, forming cracks like mud on my face. The pus was now visible, making me lose my confidence.

I folded my hands together, squeezing them as I stood nervously at the entrance door, waiting for the teacher to notice me.

She finally did. She looked at my appearance and rushed me in without any criticism or mockery.

For the first time in a long while, I saw someone who didn’t look at me with disgust apart from Mom and, of course, Ray.

“You must be the newly admitted scholarship student?” she inquired, her voice calm and welcoming.

“Yes ma,” I responded.

“You’re welcome to Verity Academy. You are late on your first day,” she said.

“I got lost finding my way here,” I explained.

She nodded, her eyes full of understanding.

“You can find an empty seat. When I am done, you will come up to introduce yourself.”

Thank goodness she said that because I don’t think I could even remember my name right now. I was too unsettled, too nervous, and my feet were as cold as ice.

I looked up for the very first time since I had stepped into the class, and there sat people my age staring at me.

I stepped forward, ready to sit beside an empty seat I saw, but before I could get there, a girl from the front stood up and sat beside the guy.

She gave me a hateful stare, her eyes daring me to move any closer.

I swallowed hard while I looked the other way, searching for another empty seat.

When I saw another one at the left of the class, the lady placed her bag on the empty seat, marking boundaries.

I sighed. I expected this, but I didn’t know it would be this mean. Having no other choice, I moved to a seat at the back. It was an isolated seat at the far corner of the room.

When the teacher, whose name I later knew to be Miss Celeste, saw that I had settled down, she continued her teaching. It was an interesting class as she was teaching us the use of English.

The long awaited time came, the introduction.

I was summoned back to the front of the class to introduce myself.

I stood up and walked my way around the rows, trying not to stumble, trying not to seem nervous, but I failed. My leg slipped, making me fall down flat.

Everyone burst into laughter, making me cover my face in embarrassment. I felt like the ground should open and swallow me, but it was an impossible wish.

Shamefully, I stood up when I saw the laughter had died down.

My legs walked their way to the front. I bowed softly and introduced myself, my voice almost shaky.

Thankfully, everyone wasn’t looking at me anymore, as they were whispering among themselves.

I was confused but thankful that something had diverted their attention away from me, and when I thought I had escaped the humiliation, someone walked in.

Her presence showed power, wealth, and expensive taste, and of course she smelled good.

Her skirt was extremely short compared to mine. She is the type that would attract attention easily.

Everyone in the class looked at her in admiration. She stood like a model before the class and removed her shades, making everyone compliment her.

“You are shining, girl.”

“Go girl.”

“Is that the latest shade released by Tis Fashion?” the lady who had looked at me meanly earlier asked.

“Of course. You know I only wear branded stuff,” the lady replied. Her voice sounded familiar.

I tried to get a closer view of her, but she turned instead as Miss Celeste addressed her lateness.

“You must be tired of your job,” the lady replied instead of apologizing.

I found it quite surprising watching how she spoke so rudely to the teacher.

“So rude,” I uttered before I could stop myself.

The lady shifted her gaze to me, and that was when I saw her clearly.

She was the same lady at the well furnished house Mom and I had worked in some weeks ago.

My eyes widened and the lady smirked.

“Oh, the ugly cleaner,” she said, her voice loud and audible.

Arita POVHis bloodshot eyes landed on Morgana before he finally got up. His hand jerked her up, almost choking the life out of her.He flung her on the shelves covering us, and everything broke down on us.“Do you all think you are that smart, to come into my kingdom without me noticing?” Zack sneered.A cold chill ran down my spine as I stared from the ground I was on, with books all spread across my dress and broken wood.So he had known we were hiding behind the shelves all along.Jayden straightened up immediately, his hands folded into fists as he stepped forward.“You are going to go back to the land of the dead, Izavj,” he barked while landing a punch which didn’t meet Zack’s face before he caught his hand.Zack twisted his wrist without much ado, but before he could rip his hand apart, I got up and landed the broken wood I had picked from the floor on him.The wood did absolutely nothing as Zack didn’t even move a hand.“You must be fierce, but not as powerful as your parents

Arita POV“I’m lead, Jayden. Let her go. She is on our side now,” I begged.Jayden didn’t listen. Instead, his hands tightened even more around her neck, with his eyes switching to different colors. His wolf was already taking control, and I knew if it did, Morgana would be as good as dead.“You know your brother won’t want you doing all this when Zack is still out there hurting people.”For a moment, I saw his hands soften around her neck before he flung her against a tree.“Haaaa!” Morgana screamed, her bones cracking as she landed on the ground below the tree.I quickly rushed to her, keeping her hand on my shoulder to help her stand while Jayden just stood there staring at her with so much anger.“Sorry,” I said as I helped stretch her back.“No. Of all the cruelest things, I deserved it. Zack wouldn’t have been causing all this chaos. Jayden is right.”“Good you know,” Jayden hissed.“Can we go and get Zack now, or do you want to spend all day nursing the traitor woman?”“Come on

  • Ruin Me,King Owen   Chapter 90

Arita POVFor hours, I just sat there in pain, just staring at the body that lay on the floor.Zack already fled away and was probably already hurting more humans and the supernaturals. The alphas and vampire lords who were supposed to protect their kinds were all lying lifeless.Morgana finally stood up from where she had sat, her fingers cleaning the tears that had stained her cheeks. Her steps thundered where I sat among the bodies, with her eyes so red one could tell she had genuinely cried. For the first time since all this started, I saw the Morgana I first knew. The very girl that had been my friend in night school. The one who had got my back during all the high school chaos. I saw remorsefulness. It’s so obvious she felt bad for what had happened. Felt bad for stealing my powers and using me as a sacrificial lamb for her lover to be awakened again.I wanted to badly hug her and whisper into her ears that all will be fine, but I just couldn’t stand up where I sat. The heavines

Arita POVArriving at the Valley of the Dead Witches was much faster than I thought. Literally, I had thought the valley would be filled with tombs arranged in rows and columns, but it wasn’t. Instead, the place was plain, like this wasn’t a graveyard to begin with.“Be careful. There are some vengeful spirits out there,” Nyx warned.Everyone walked with caution until something caught my leg.At first, I thought my leg was stuck between the flowers until my eyes caught the skeletal hand that had gripped tightly onto my leg.“Haaaaaa!” I screamed, my legs dangling as I struggled to break free.“Hold on. I’ve got this,” Zach said, his body already moving at speed. He circled around us immediately, his hands breaking the skeleton’s bones. The skeleton walked away quickly, its broken bones following behind it.“Took you guys longer than I thought,” Morgana’s voice echoed.Everyone looked around, but she wasn’t anywhere visible.“Stop being a coward and show yourself!” I shouted.“So scary

  • Ruin Me,King Owen   Chapter 88

Arita POVThe meeting with the werewolf council took longer than I thought. The elders at first weren’t ready to join hands with the witches. They went on bickering about old grudges, misunderstandings, and the wars that had happened centuries back. At some point, the meeting changed from a normal chat to loud noise. Everyone was speaking in capital letters, not giving room for one another.“Can everyone just keep calm?” Monvane thundered. Apparently, he had used his werewolf Alpha ability, making the elders quiet at once, except for the witches who kept talking as the Alpha power didn’t get to them.Monvane looked at me, a look that meant I should talk to my people as he had done to his.I let out a long sigh before stepping forward to the center of the room. My eyes roamed over the elders who were now as quiet as a graveyard. Anyone seeing them right now would think they were entirely different from the witches. My eyes shifted to my kind, Nyx and the other witches, as they murmured

  • Ruin Me,King Owen   Chapter 87

Nyx’s POV“The truth behind all this chaos,” I said, my voice coming out much lower than I intended. “All this chaos Morgana caused didn’t just start today.”Silence settled over the room as everyone listened with rapt attention. Zach had his arms wrapped across his chest, and King rested against the wall with his hands tucked into the pockets of his trousers.“Morgana was never like this. She was the sweet little girl I raised, always lively and happy to help anyone out. Morgana was so talented that she mastered the tenth spell at seven. She did nothing but good with her powers.“She was always happy to help out and find ingredients for new spells.“Then one day, Morgana met Zack, the King of Evil Witches.“Zack had been cast out from the Witch Kingdom immediately he was caught trying to use black magic. Unknown to us, Zack had already mastered all forms of black magic, and he was able to sneak into the Witch Coven without our knowledge, except for Morgana.“Morgana never mentioned m
