With everything that was looming over us, the village had been quiet since our soldiers had left almost two months ago. It seemed as though the sky had known the heaviness in our hearts as since the night they left, we hadn’t seen the sun in the sky. It was only three days ago that I was awoken with the news that I had been waiting for every day and worrying and filled with dread for the lives of all of our men.
