Silas had never been close to his mother.

His father had explained that it was normal. Since his mother was a Royal Consort, there was a high probability that she would never feel any sort of affection for their child. Bearing a child for a consort, at least some of them, was more of an act of duty, rather than an act of love. Consorts wanted to bear children because it was their responsibility to do so.

They didn’t want to have children because they wanted to have something to love and care for. In fact, it was already expected that consorts would never touch or be affectionate with their offspring. It was normal for consorts to hire nannies or maids that would care for the children they have with Alphas. It was also normal
