Thea

The morning arrived more quickly than I wanted. I hadn’t really slept. I kept hearing noises in my head, movement and whispers that felt like someone was still watching. Damon sat by the window, sharpening his blade as he had all night.

Kael was at the table, reading a coded message we found in the rogue’s satchel before he died. Elara was quietly crouched near Eren, brushing his hair back while he slept. For a moment, it seemed normal, but the air still felt heavy.

I got up and walked over to Kael. “Did you find anything useful?”

He didn’t look up. “Depends on what you mean by useful.”

I leaned closer. The paper was filled with numbers and half-sentences, but one line caught my eye: “The Luna’s blood is the key.”

“Shit,” I said. “Selene’s getting desperate.”

Kael nodded. “That means she’s close to finishing whatever she’s creating. She’s not just sending rogues anymore. She’s making them.”

That made my stomach turn. “You mean she’s creating new rogues?”

“Not normal ones,” he sai

The cabin was small and had a faint smell of smoke. Damon checked the area twice while Thea worked on a wound on her shoulder. Eren slept against the wall, breathing steadily. For the first time in hours, it was quiet. Too quiet.Kael sat on the edge of the table, his shirt torn and bandaged at the side. The pain was dull compared to the ache in his chest. Elara sat across from him, arms crossed, her face calm but distant.“You should lie down,” she said.“I’ve rested enough,” he muttered, watching the flame in the lamp between them. “If I stop moving, I’ll start thinking, and that’s worse.”Elara didn’t respond. She just looked at him. Her silence used to irritate him, but now it scared him.Kael exhaled. “I messed up, Elara. I should have protected you back then. Instead, I pushed you away and made you suffer alone. And now… I can’t even stop bleeding.”Her eyes softened, but her expression stayed firm. “You don’t have to say that now.”“I do,” he said, his voice rough. “You should

  • Run Little Mate   Chapter 110

CHAPTER 110ElaraWe were less than two miles from safety when we heard the first growl. It wasn’t close, but it wasn’t far either. Kael lifted his head, narrowing his eyes. He signaled for silence, and we froze.Eren shifted next to me, gripping his knife tightly. “How many?” he whispered.Kael didn’t answer. He moved forward, slow and careful. His injury wasn’t fully healed, but he didn’t show it. Damon took position behind us, watching our backs. I could feel the change in the air, the heavy smell of blood and dirt mixed together. The first rogue came from the left, and Kael took him down before I could move. His strike was clean and brutal. The sound of breaking bones made Eren flinch. Another rogue approached from behind, so I pushed Eren down and sent energy through my palm without thinking. The force burst out like heat, throwing the rogue backward. I held my breath. It was small and uncontrolled, but it worked.Kael glanced at me, surprise on his face, but there was no time fo

  • Run Little Mate   Chapter 109

CHAPTER 109POV: KaelI forced myself to stay upright, but every muscle in my body hurt. The cuts stung, the bruises throbbed, and I felt my energy draining away. Elara worked quickly with herbs and silver bandages on my wounds. I disliked needing her and hated that she wouldn’t let me dismiss her.“Kael, hold still,” she said, pressing another piece of silver on a deep cut. “You won’t heal if you fight me.”I clenched my jaw. I’m fine, I thought, even though my body disagreed. I hated leaning against a tree, letting her touch me, and letting her see my weakness. Pride burned within me, but guilt burned even more.I shifted slightly and noticed something strange on my skin. Dark marks traced the edges of the bandages, faint and pulsing. My chest tightened. Selene. Her magic. She must have left this in my wound. The thought made my stomach twist.“Elara…” I murmured, almost to myself. “There’s something on me.”She froze, looked at the marks, and then looked up sharply. “I saw it too.

ElaraI felt it before I saw him, a faint pulse of energy I recognized anywhere. Kael. My chest tightened, panic clawing at my ribs as I focused, following the faint trail of his Moon-Blessed energy. It was weak, fragmented, like he was barely holding on.“Kael,” I whispered, my voice trembling, but no sound came back, just the faint echo of his presence. I ran, my boots crushing leaves and twigs, eyes scanning every corner, every movement and my heart refused to calm.I rounded a bend in the forest and froze. There he was, half-collapsed against a tree, his body trembling. Blood streaked his cheek, and his hands shook as he tried to push himself upright. His golden eyes met mine, guilt and frustration flashing through them.“Elara,” he rasped, voice barely audible. He tried to smile, a weak attempt at reassurance, but it faltered, and I saw the truth behind it. He was hurt, and he hated feeling helpless.I knelt beside him, ignoring the sting of panic in my chest. “Kael, you’re hurt.

  • Run Little Mate   CHAPTER 107

ElaraSomething felt off the moment I stepped outside. The air in territory wasn’t calm like it usually was and I didn’t need anyone to tell me what it meant. My body already knew. Something was wrong with Kael.I tried to shake it off at first, thinking maybe it was just in my head, but the uneasiness didn’t leave. It stayed and I was uneasy. I slowly walked back into the pack house and shut the door behind me, leaning on it for a second to catch my breath.Eren was asleep upstairs. I could hear his breathing, calm and steady. I should have felt comfort in that, but I didn’t. I crossed to the old bookshelf and pulled out the dusty journal I had been reading the last few days. It was one of the old Moon-Blessed texts my mother used to study before everything fell apart. The pages were rough, but I flipped through them carefully until I found the section I marked last night. It talked about the connection between bonded souls and how a Moon-Blessed could sense when the bond was in dan
