š¾ Alpha Jake
We walked back in comfortable silence to the packhouse. It had been an eventful day to say the least, and I was starving.
I gazed down at the beautiful Elf that walked next to me. Her lovely words about my leadership as an Alpha of this pack had touched me deeply. Did she really think that way about me?
After all that had happened, she had pulled her hood down and hadnāt pulled it back up to hide herself away from prying eyes. Her silver locks were dancing in the remaining light of the street lanterns. It made my heart skip a beat, that she was warming up to the pack and felt more comfortable around them.
Deep down, I wanted it to mean that she was also opening up to me. The glances we shared and the slight touching of her hands as I cup
ā³ PernwĆ©l I was baffled. I understood Jakeās explanation but the notion of there being only one out there to match perfectly with your own, was a romantic notion that didnāt quite exist where I came from. Jake was staring deeply into my eyes and as I ran through everything in my mind that had happened over the last few odd days, I certainly had felt a pull towards him. I had just asked him if I was his fated mate and he was hesitating in giving me his answer, but somehow I already knew it. We were fated mates in this Realm and the fact that the Moon Goddess put us together had a higher meaning. Even if I didnāt have a wolf spirit to connect with his one, she was under the understanding that I would complete him
ā³ PernwĆ©l Illuminated by the moonlight, I follow the path laid out in front of me. It looks as if the trees have moved out of the way to make space, leaving roots and lifting the ground in their wake. As I kept walking through the dark forest, the snow cracked beneath my feet. Just then, I realised Iām barefoot and wearing nothing but a thin white nightgown. I canāt sense the cold feeling between my toes as the snow and ice slips around them. I should feel ice-cold by now. Strangely, I donāt feel anything except for the uncontrollable urge to keep moving. I watch out for the tree roots so I wonāt trip and Iām thankful that the full moon tonight shines bright enough to be able to move further; pulled by some invisible force to keep going deeper into the forest.
ā³ PernwĆ©l The little cabin of Grandma Rose filled up with thick smoke, it billowed from the cauldron the moment the orb touched the contents. Our vision was obscured slightly as the orb bobbed up and down in the purplish clouds. The scrolls of the ancient artifacts had described and identified the potion we were brewing, the smoke was supposed to be this color, so that was a good sign. The journal chronicled every orb ever made, describing its uses and how to unlock what was within. I had no clue what would happen next or what I was doing. I tried to recall every little detail from the instructions, hoping I had got it right. I fiddled with my fingers, clutching onto the brim of the wooden table. As the smoke kept frothing and spilling out of the cauldron,
ā³ PernwélGrandma Rose stared at me in shock.I felt baffled, to the point that I began to question every step of my life and how we had gotten to this point. It made my head spin and I took a seat on the rocking chair.“Dear?” Grandma Rose asked worriedly, gazing at me with her observant eyes. “Are you okay?”I wasn’t even sure how to answer Grandma Rose’s question. Was all of this even real? Surely I would wake up any moment and it would have been one of my nightmares. The wise older woman took a seat next to me and grabbed my hand in hers. It was oddly similar to the way that Jake had done when I was feeling overwhelmed. It calmed my nerves but I was still ree
š¾ Alpha JakeAs I got off of the phone call with Grandma Rose, worry flooded my mind.Pernwél had left this morning to go open the orb we found in the forest and now Grandma Rose was calling me to go pick her up. Something must have happened but I couldn’t tell from her voice if that something was bad or not.My wolf only knew that our mate needed us and it was enough to put my paperwork aside and bolt out of the door.I ran in my human form towards the little cabin on the outskirts of our town, not wanting to show up naked at my Grandma’s doorstep. Even though nudity was something normal between shifters, I still had a need for decency around my last living relative and new found mate.I ar
š¾ Alpha Jake I decided to walk PernwĆ©l to her room so she could freshen up while I made some calls. I needed to ask around the other werewolf packs and see if they had heard of the person we needed to find. āThanks Jakey.ā The way she said āJakeyā did something to me. I hated the nickname, but coming out of her mouth it had my heart fluttering at an unnatural speed. I let out a sigh, wanting to display a sense of displeasure, before I lowered my lips to her forehead and placed a soft kiss on it, like I had done the previous night. Suddenly, we were startled by laughter. Darren was down the corridor and had heard us as he exited his own room. He took a couple of steps in our direction and guffawed in front of PernwĆ©l. āWhy is Robin Hood calling you Jakey?ā
ā³ PernwélA couple of days had passed since Jake had reached out to other Alpha’s from the neighbouring packs in this Realm. Some jumped at the opportunity to help Alpha Jake’s pack, but there were others who weren’t inclined to help us in any way. According to Jake, there were those who didn’t agree to the werewolf code. Norms of conduct that had been in the making for ages, passed on through the communities of shifters everywhere around the globe. He didn’t go into detail explaining them to me, but I understood. We had something similar in the Royal guard. A set of ancient rules to live and abide by.They were jealous of the way his pack thrived. Jake had great warriors and a prospering economy. Jake’s pack had its own bakery, wood shop, butcher, elem
ā³ PernwĆ©l When night fell, we stopped for a break at a rural hotel that Jake had made reservations for. It consisted of one building and smaller cabins around it. We had to pick up the key inside the main building and Jake left me alone in the car for a brief moment. It was starting to get dark outside and the lanterns that illuminated the path towards the cabins had just been lit. It gave it all a fairytale aura. If it wasnāt because we were going on this trip for important matters, I wouldāve found this romantic. He got into the car again and flashed his canines with a dashing grin, while he held up the keys to our refuge for the night. Jake and I pulled up to one of the cabins with the truck. It reminded me of Grandma Roseās home. Only there were no leaf
