Surprise proposal

(Livia)

“Careful baby…one step at a time”Luciano murmured as he guided me to wherever he was taking me. His arm was around my back, holding me firmly while the other was intertwined with my hand.

Nothing felt right than being surprised by Luciano. He was nothing but the best boyfriend ever.

“A…are we there yet?” the more we walked, the more agitated I was. There were many ways to be happy in this life, but all I needed was him. For two years he had been nothing but the best boyfriend I could ask for.

So caring, such a loving gentleman, and he always put me first above all else. I was his pride, my parents already liked him for me because he was a good man.

I recalled the first time I met him. It wasn't such a great encounter, I would say was memorable because it was funny. Sydney and I went camping, by then I was in high school. Our school arranged for camp, unfortunately,

I was too lazy to attend one; hence we decided to sneak away and ended up running around town having fun. Luciano was having a small meeting, not sure what it was.

Sydney and I troubled a few bad men, who later started chasing us for provoking them. It was funny how we ran inside this beautiful hotel. So foreign since we had never been in the city before.

Sydney ran in a different direction and I happened to enter this dimly lit large room, unfortunately that was where the meeting was.

Everyone was surprised when I barged in. I recalled how angry Luciano was when those bad men barged in too, threatening to cut off my head if I didn't go with them.

For a troublemaker, I had to act fast; hence I ran to the angry Luciano and hugged him, cried, and called him my brother.

As funny as the scene turned out, it shocked everyone. He played along and saved my skin. Later I met him back home and that's how our awkward encounters started. He was from a rich, powerful family. I was just an average girl from a comfortable family.

With happy, successful parents and a spoiled little brother, I loved more than anything. My father was a well-known criminal lawyer who had never lost a car.

He was upright and never defended the guilt. He sent criminals to jail, which made him my hero. I looked up to him. Which was why I tried, certainly, to refrain from bad company.

I despised criminals, especially mafias and gang leaders, they tormented innocent lives and killed people mercilessly.

The only dream I had in life was for the heavens to bless me with a good caring man and I got one, and that was Luciano Garcia. He was my guardian angel and knight in shining armor.

“Are you ready, baby?” Luciano's question brought me back to reality as soon as he stopped me. I was anxious as I nodded hesitantly.

This was a big deal. My small heart couldn't take the pressure as he stood behind me. His warm frame towered over me as his fingers brushed on my neck.

I was even more startled when he unexpectedly planted a warm sensational kiss on my neck causing me to flinch in excitement.

“I know my life will never be complete without you beside me to share it…when I look into my heart, I see only you. If you can look into your heart and only see me… Then we should spend the rest of our lives together.” he murmured as he took his time removing the blindfold.

He didn't know how his words affected me. From the depth of my heart, he resided. Every fiber of my being craved him in the most innocent way.

“Luciano… I…” I didn't even know why I was feeling butterflies in my stomach as the blindfold left my eyes. I didn't dare open my eyes as I waited for him to say so.

“I promise you, no one will work harder to make you happy or cherish you more than me…when I think about you, I know that no one else will ever hold my heart the way you do,” he muttered and kissed my neck gently, so lovingly that I leaned back to him feeling his chest rising and falling. He was a little tense just by his beating heart.

“Open your eyes baby” he murmured and left my side. This was it. I was getting my birthday gift from a man I loved. If he were to ask me, I'd tell him, he was my greatest birthday gift.

He meant everything to me, and when my eyes flickered open. I was stunned, my jaw dropped at the sight before me. Everything was just.

“Wow” the words left my mouth as I took a step forward. I couldn't believe this was happening to me, forget that. Luciano was on one knee holding out a sparky small red box as he extended his hand forward.

“Olivia Altamirano…will you marry me and make me the happiest man alive?” the words left his mouth as he took out a beautiful diamond ring. My mind went blank as my heart raced.

Tears flooded my eyes, threatening to pour out violently. Was this happening to me?

I couldn't believe my eyes as I stood there crying like a baby, he was there proposing to me after two years of being together. Of loving each other.

“When I look into your eyes, I can see a reflection of the two of us and the life I hope we'll share… Olivia, I love you more than anything…you are the woman of my dreams, and for that… I want you to be my wife” he added "You deserve the very best, someone, who will back you up without limits, let you grow without borders, and love you without end. Will you let me be the one?” He added even more sincerely that I let my tears flow because this was my dream coming true. A truly spectacular birthday gift, so romantic and loving coming from a man I cherished more than life itself.

I gave him my left shaky hand, and he slipped the ring right on my fourth finger. It was the exact size, so beautiful that I couldn't hold back anymore.

“Yes…yes! I'll marry you a thousand times” I shouted at the top of my voice and threw myself in his arms, shedding tears as he wrapped his arms around me. Everything was beautiful, he brought colors to my life. He was the light I craved for.

“And I have a gift for you, my love,” I said when both of us were seated having a delicious meal. I was content with the decorations. From the beautiful red roses and petals scattered all over the white tiled floor and hanging above us.

He made something like a fortress and made a table for two. He popped champagne to seal our engagement and everything seemed so perfect for us.

“Can I get it now?” he said mischievously as he fed me. This was crazy, instead of eating. He was busy feeding me.

“Nope… you'll have to wait… because it's for everyone to hear…our families will be happy with the good news,” I said, winking at him mischievously, and he pouted cutely. I couldn't help but laugh at how silly he looked, but he shrugged and resumed eating.

“Then I'll have to wait…poor me,” he said in between laughter, and we continued eating as we chatted. Mainly talking about our future.

Having kids and staying happy. He didn't have to wait for long because soon I'd tell him the good news which would forever seal our love.

It was just a matter of a day. I couldn't wait to tell Sydney that soon I was going to be Mrs. Garcia.
